Here because strep throat (or what I thought was a cold) triggered guttate psoriasis in me for nearly 4 weeks. This is an autoimmune reaction, or in other words, my worst nightmare. It only improved with the application of Zyrtec (x2, a.m.), Benadryl (x3, p.m.) and Palmer's 'Raw Shea Formula' Body Lotion applied after frequent lukewarm baths. Not an advertisement; more like a public service announcement. Prescription ointments & expensive purpose-formulated lotions were not quite good enough for the problem. So if a doc tested for just the presence of Strep in the blood and throat and the results were both negative, the Cunningham panel will look for additional antibodies that may still indicate the disorder?
The test can report autoantibodies against specific targets in the brain associated with various neuropsychiatric symptoms. The test does not test for specific infections.
Great lecture. Its clear to us that our son has this right now. Only unfortunate here in holland and elswere as I understand, our kids our wrongly diagnosed with something else and are given worsening medication…🙏
