Usually I like what he does. But this? He might as well have sanded this and then slapped a coat of black paint on this piece, not bothered with all the oxalic acid and stripping and achieved the same result. The wood grain isn't even visible. And that bright YELLOW (gold leaf?) hardware just added the final touch of tacky. This is ugliest result I've ever seen from him. What a shame to wreck this great old piece like this.
Aww...look at those lovely furbabies❤ Oh, sorry, the chest turned out beautifully, too! I do like the lighter finish but you should do things how you want them. Your judgement is always spot on
The legs look GREAT on this stunning piece! I so appreciate that you show us errors or unexpected problems and attack them with such honesty and optimism.
I'll call this your "Mando" cabinet because it has Mando colors. But just a question - didn't the sides of this piece crack because of seasonal expansion and contraction that was restricted by the drawer supports being screwed directly to the sides instead of being screwed in slots (cut in the drawer supports) to allow the sides to "move" as the seasons change? Wouldn't that eliminate the possibility of future side cracks? Love the results and I hope you keep this.
I couldn't imagine where you were going with this and now I'm blown away. It's very creative and different. I'm very impressed you were able to cleanup your workshop from all that wood dust! Great job!
Wow! This is a new endeavor for you, Jay. Congratulations on the fun & thrill of learning!!! You did a beautiful job repairing, refinishing, & re-upholstering the rocker. The deep green velvet is beautiful! I would not have guessed it would turn out so well-except you are an artist, Jay. I would like to try upholstery work via a class. The closing by your beautiful marble? & fire & blanket throw was charming. Beautiful setting. Thank you
