I think early fall is a good time to do this hike. Mid Summer you have to deal with Thunderstorms. Late Spring early summer could get snow.

Someone will tell you a route is class 3. When you question them about that later they will say, "Well most of it is class 3. Sure, a few 5.7 moves but MOST of it is class 3".

Thanks for taking us on your journey. There is so much of Glacier I have not taken in. My in-laws are in Whitefish, but we don't get out there much these days. Not in our 20's either, so a 14 mile 4000 foot hike would be brutal. If I was smart, I would take that as inspiration to start hiking again, haHa. Subscribed.

Glacier is definitely a special place with a lot to see and do! If you don’t try to climb Mt Siyeh, it is a much more chill day out! But it is still 10 miles I believe. Thanks for the watch!

Nice video, I just love Glacier NP! So I have ask, did you change the name of your channel? I think it was “Occasional Alpinist” right?
@AnOccasionalAdventurer
@AnOccasionalAdventurer 22 дня назад
Thank you for the watch and the nice words, Glacier is awesome! Yes I did haha, I was reading A Fine Line by Graham Zimmerman and Extreme Alpinism by Mark Twight and had some imposter syndrome, so changed it about a month again, I still think it fits, I just wouldn’t consider myself an Alpinist after seeing what they did and what guys/girls like Jackson Marvell and Brett Harrington are doing

I love sawtooth. I lived in mineral king both last summer and this summer. Sawtooth is great, but so is Mineral peak, the red craggy mountain on the other side of monarch lakes. That one has some spicy scrambles

Might just have to add Mineral peak to the list then!

@@AnOccasionalAdventurer Cool. Thank you. We went up and couldn't summit the end of April this year due to weather and avalanches distroying the route. I plan to go back next summer around the end of June hoping Mother Nature is kinder to us.

Curious where did you ski down from. Considering amongst diller headwall, south ridge, or the saddle btwn prouty point/middle sister. To me it seems you skiied down from the saddle? I might consider because it looks like the one with the least consequence
@AnOccasionalAdventurer
@AnOccasionalAdventurer 3 месяца назад
Yes I skied down from the saddle! I just booted to the top and was glad I did do too the pretty poor snow conditions near the summit, all ice. I hope you have a great time when you go!
