It's funny to think that Toho "bought" the rights to the American Godzilla solely to kill him off, but this isn't the case. Sony bought the rights to Godzilla in 1992. They were set to expire around 2004. Sony obviously decided against making another Godzilla movie considering how terribly that turned out for them and the rights reversed to Toho early in 2003. Ironically, this makes the situation even funnier. Immediately after being given the rights to use "Zilla", the first thing and only substantial thing Toho ever does with it is kill it off. There was _one_ film appearance of Zilla. They modeled, animated, and rigged that character solely to kill it off. That was how pissed they were.
One thing i dont get is why dont they figure out why mothra saved godzilla, wouldnt that be proof that godzilla is a anti-hero trying to save humanity, like yeah godzilla is best friends with mothra but that does give a bit of proof that you need godzilla to protect your country in a messy way
Cool this version of godzilla was so bad that they cut half of his name made him look even uglier and then they put him in the movie just to be beaten up on screen by godzilla himself... What a way to say he's inferior
