Pretty sure celestron filters use baader film. Unless they cheapened out to mylar. If the view is blue, then it is mylar. Glass filters tend to have a warm tone and a tad of softness from the glass, but they are more durable except if dropped where glass can crack, and film will survive unless punctured by a sharp object
@EarthtoSpaceScience
@EarthtoSpaceScience 15 дней назад
The Celestron filter isn’t baader film as it does produce an orange sun.
@k.h.1587
@k.h.1587 13 дней назад
@EarthtoSpaceScience then it was changed from when I used to sell them 2006-2011. And even the costco special nexstar 80gtl which was my fist scope in 2004 came with a solar filter than used baader film. Celestron used to be the main source for some of the baader filters, with celestron branding, the contrast booster and uhc/OIII, and astrosolar on their solar filters. But things change over the years and baader has increased many of its prices since the hyperion was such a huge hit on the forums back in 06. The celestron OIII and UHC were the cheapest way to get those baader filters for a long time.

Its cool you can make a table like you we're discussing towards the end of the video, and the hand controller actually tells you that number. Not having that kind of information and just having to guess where the focuser is at is rather annoying when you are doing everything by hand. If I do end up getting one of the evolution series, getting the auto focuser is definitely going to have to be a must buy with it.

You think there would be some software update on this model to make it more useful at night by tracking at least the moon . Also that was probably just a normal satellite passing at 3:25 , with well over 11, 000 of them orbiting the earth .

It tracks pretty good. I haven’t tried it at high magnification, so not sure on that. It will keep the sun in the field of view for a long time with the tacking camera (it did the entire eclipse without issue, for example) but I’m not sure about how well it would keep a specific prominence in the center of the field of view.

MONO I use the ASI 462
@victorialoh9921
@victorialoh9921 2 месяца назад
I've just purchased this flip mirror and have got a similar set up, with the eyepiece attached to the flip with a helical focuser. I have the ASI462MC with a 1.25" nose piece + filter on that I'm struggling to connect to the flip, so will look into a baader clicklock, or something similar as they're quite pricey. Is there anything else you'd recommend? As for backfocus, I'm struggling to figure that out as well.
@EarthtoSpaceScience
@EarthtoSpaceScience Месяц назад
Yeah, they have lots of threaded adapters. The click lock is nice but you can always do one of their cheaper 1.25” adapters and upgrade later, especially since you can use two of them. Backfocus can be tricky to measure. I didn’t try too hard to get it optimal, I mainly just focused on getting a setup that worked physically in terms of all the connections and just tried to get in the ballpark. Since I use it with an SCT, reaching focus isn’t an issue but of course you don’t want to have the spacing too far off optimal.

I bought my C90 as a spotting scope for taking to the range, and also for taking pictures of the abundant and varied wildlife here in Australia. This 'scope performs these tasks admirably. It's only now that I am working out that I can use this for taking pictures of the planets too? Awesome. I understand that from an Astronomer's perspective that the C90 leaves a lot to be desired, but from my perspective, this gets me better results than some very expensive glass I've seen around on dedicated spotters.

It is one of the very best “bang for your buck” telescopes out there. For the price it performs amazing. Obviously you can spend $3,000 and get a much better telescope, just like anything else. But for the price it does well. You can certainly get nice views of the planets with it when the atmosphere is steady.

@EarthtoSpaceScience
@EarthtoSpaceScience 2 месяца назад
It can be hard to figure out where your focus is since it will be dramatically different than with an eyepiece. If you have an eyepiece in that is in focus and then swap out and put the camera in, likely it is so far out of focus you can’t see anything. Set the gain up much higher and maybe use a longer exposure and try to go through the full focus range. Depending on the setup you might need to pull the camera out a little from the focuser to get a bit more focus range.

Some zooms have clicks at set focal lengths so it is easy to get both at say 10mm or whatever. Otherwise it can be tricky but easier with practice.

Collapsed length is 27”, shortest height with legs spread is 25”, tallest height with legs extended is 44” without column. The extension column adds 8.5” so max height would be 52.5” roughly.

Can that track the sun rising and setting?
@EarthtoSpaceScience
@EarthtoSpaceScience 3 месяца назад
Should track through setting ok, but rising will be harder since it won’t be able to track it until it finds it which it won’t do until it is risen. It is easy to find the sun at sunrise, so you could probably align it manually. But not sure how long it will take to start tracking it correctly. I’m not sure what it would do with the sun if it was only part way up.

It's a shame Celestron can't design an adapter set that would allow use of this autofocuser on different types of focusing systems like Crayfords and the Feathertouch. I have the Feathertouch you show mounted on my Edge 8 and it is marvelous for visual use, and no way do I want to remove it to put an autofocusing system on my scope for astrophotography. It seems that an adapter similar to what you have to use for the factory focusing knob could make using this autofocuser work with the Feathertouch; it would be win-win all the way. I generally focus with a Bahtinov mask and then lock the mirror both for visual and DSLR photography, but it can be a bit time consuming. I don't have the vibration issue when focusing, I'm using a GEM with my SCT, either an AVX or an EQ6R Pro.
@EarthtoSpaceScience
@EarthtoSpaceScience 3 месяца назад
Yeah, there are a lot of different auto focusers on the market but a lot of them require taking some part of the knob off and what not. I love and hate the Celestron one. It is great for focusing without causing and scope vibration but at the same time it is slower and a lot of times I just want to reach out and do it manually. But swapping it out is a lot of work.

What is the meaning of eclipse? Isaiah 24:23 Then the moon will be disgraced and the sun ashamed; For the Lord of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders, gloriously. It is the sign that the Lord Jesus Christ will be coming and meet His people in Mount Zion. What is Mount Zion? It is the city of the Great King, the Kingdom of God, and the resting place where His people can rest, learn holy life, and take refuge during tribulation. The work of it is guiding His people to the whole truth, teaching them the importance of obedience, and giving them the understanding of the words of God. That is the truth. When a person does not understand God's words, perverse teachers will guide him to the wrong path. For instance, he will teach that grace is for everyone. The truth is 'grace' is only for the humble people. If you are proud, you place yourself under curse. Therefore, be humble. Psalm 119:21 You rebuke the proud-the cursed, who stray from Your commandments. James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” He will also teach that rapture will save them from tribulation. Many people believe this lie. Christ clearly said the people who will be raptured will be the ones to die, and their dead bodies will be eaten by wild birds. Luke 17:36-37 Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left. And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” The truth is ascension will take place after God cleanses the earth from rebels through catastrophes. Then He will turn the earth into His Kingdom. While you are waiting for the fulfillment of it, you have to go to Mount Zion to take refuge. Isaiah 65:17 For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind. Isaiah 4:5-6 Then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night... for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain. Where is Mount Zion? It used to be in Israel. After the Jews crucified Lord Jesus Christ, He took it from them and gave it to us, the children of Zion. There is a difference between the children of Zion and Zionists. Children of Zion came from the tribe of Judah, while Zionists are a religious group. Our ancestors were scattered after Christ ascended to Heaven. The Jews gathered in the 1940’s. But the children of Zion live in Negros, Philippines to this day. It is the only island that has the shape of a man’s foot. Isaiah called it the place of the feet of God. Isaiah 60:13 The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the cypress, the pine, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of My sanctuary; And I will make the PLACE OF MY FEET glorious. Matthew 12:30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. Matthew 21:43-45 Therefore I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder. Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them. Lord Jesus Christ will stand on Mount Zion at His coming. But Mount Zion is desolate and needs to be rebuilt. He sends natural disasters, wars, and deadly sicknesses such as heart stroke and blindness from diabetes to punish His people for forgetting His City and His ruinous temple in Jerusalem. There will be no peace and joy on earth until His city Mount Zion and His temple are established physically. Haggai 1:9-10 Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. For I called for a DROUGHT on the land and the mountains. Drought causes wildfires, anxiety in the heart, dehydration, and blurry vision. It is important to care for your heart by living a healthy life. You need to avoid food containing saturated fat and bad cholesterol. They clogged the heart's arteries. Have the doctor check your cholesterol level regularly. Fish oil is a natural blood-thinning medicine and anti-inflammatory. It helps lower blood pressure and fight LDL cholesterol. Stress is bad for the heart; Exercise like walking helps fight it. Drink plenty of water as your body needs. Lower your salt intake to prevent high blood pressure. Banana contains potassium and magnesium; They help strengthen the heart. Keep aspirin at home: It protects you from heart attack or stroke. Take it when you feel pain and tightness in the chest, arm, jaw, neck or back, cold sweats, shortness of breath, nausea, and unusual fatigue. Go to the nearest ER for immediate medical help. Above all, seek God and His Son, Lord Jesus Christ with an obedient heart. Do not reject the Law of Moses; It is God’s ways, righteousness, and holiness. Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. Lastly, consider donating from the heart for the rebuilding of Mount Zion, so that peace and joy will again reign in every heart. Below is a link where you can donate. It a righteous deed that will save you from an angel of death. Psalm 48:2 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” This is the daughter of Zion. Lord Jesus Christ sent me on this last day to guide His sheep to the path of life and lead the rebuilding of His City. Isaiah 45:13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways; He shall build My city and let My exiles go free, not for price nor reward, says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 2:10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. The Spirit and the bride Gabriel, an angel of the Lord Daughter of Zion
