ONI is made by Klei and they are super awesome for letting RU-vid people like me and many others make videos. Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/457140/Oxygen_Not_Included/ Website: www.klei.com/games/oxygen-not-included
I had a whole chain of powered filters sorting out a mixed pipe of gas and dumping into compressed storage. Now with a bit of extra space expenditure, I can save using all that power, and the filters keep working even in an outage

You can set your valve to 0.1g, no need to waste a whole gram. Then your filter can run for 10,000s with full packets before wasting any.
Filters cost power. Let's say you want to drain a jungle biome of gas. It can have clorine gas, hydrogen gas and polluted oxygen. That is 3 gas filters you'd have to set up. That is 3x 120w = 360. A single coal generator generates 600w. So you just wasted over half the capacity of a coal generator for x amount of time sending mostly small packages over a filter. Alternatively you can use this and use 0W but instead some building space
This actually funny. Now you can just run one pipe and everything will be filtered out accordingly to whatever valve was primed with. But I get it since it's an old video.
The whole series was funny and interesting. I'm not an ONI player, so I'm more interested in playthroughs instead of tutorials. You've been away for RU-vid for years. I hope everything is OK. Cheers!
Fantastic explanation. I've been using these filters for ages, but always had to check a reference to copy. I now feel I understand enough to easily build from scratch.
the thing is. when you make stables you will put sweepers in there anyway. why not just let the sweepers take care of the critter murdering aswell (by sweeping the eggs and dropping them in a shared killroom for ALL your stables). making 1 individual kill room per stable seems very inefficient.
how is this helpful? you're still using heavy gauge wire which is what you want to avoid doing I am in the early game but trying to figure out how to distribute power to all my machines which only total around 1500 if they were all to be turned on at once, but I only have 1 circuit, so things get overloaded sometimes. I don't want to make a bunch of transformers because they create a bunch of heat. I saw on the wiki some kind of automated power switch like this but I don't see how this is helpful because you're still just using heavy wire which I don't want to do because of the hit to decor
Great. Newbie here. I've never seen this before. I've not tested this but I think you could use a valve set to 999g in the input line to prevent oxygen continuing on the main path, this would also remove the need for the second bridge. And in order to prevent the oxygen from backing up in the filtered line you can always have the gas pipe continue from the reservoir input to a place where you are sure it won't overpressure (like into space).
just tested the valve set to 999g. It works, but the throughput rate is significantly decreased. This is because each 1000g packet is split into two packets by the valve: 1g and 999g. Each of these two packets takes the same amount of time to process as the original full 1000g packet, which can get through with no problem in the setup shown.
The only thing what i would add to this build is an extra Liquid pipe thermo sensor. I made that mistake, that the extra water from my base was less than 14 degrees, so it just damaged my pipes.
you over-complicate this, only 1 battery needs smart wiring, and only 1 not gate is needed. or gates are not needed, but may make it "safer to load/reset" as long as there is no consumer over 1 kw, you can put any amount of power trough it without breaking. you branch off consumers of such a trunk-network by 2 oscillating batteries with 1 not gate an 4 switches.
It's all party and fun until you have a "real" base made of walls, floors, ceilings and you also have to deal with morale and decor and other structure which occupy space. In sandbox mode you don't have all other limitations.
I kinda wish you'd walked through how you set up the compact version you had at the start. I think I understand the concept but I cant figure out how you have the bridges and pipes laid out to take up so little space.
I know this video is old, but if you use a filter at 9999 and a 1gram filter you can have it loop back on itself so it can back up and stop the pump if you so choose instead of allowing the gas to pass a backed up filter.
The design is great, but takes up space, especially if you have multiple ranches. Another solution is to create one critter killer outside and let the dupes transfer extra critters there from all of your ranches. XD
If you use it in an electrolyzer: Don't cool the water, cool the oxygen. If you need cooler water, 1) quick&dirty: just build another aquatuner and run it through it 2) more elegant: use a heat exchanger like in many other videos to get the exact temperature you need.
@@weltraumvogel2 Agreed. Cooling the water from the vent it's just unnecessary chores. Also : Don't bother cooling the oxygen that went to the atmo suits. Dupes has no problem breathing warm O² in the atmo suits. You only need to cool the Oxygen that goes to your base.
There's too much hot water and little for cold water. If the hot water storage is full, you need to cool down the hot water further, or deletes it to electrolyzer.
