White Steve Wynn jump started the 1990's boom with The Mirage his move to create more revenue from non-gaming amenities also jump started the decline in what Vegas use to be which as a very good value for tourist. There is still value in Vegas compared to other resort towns but its a fraction of what it use to be.
Clark was both, Wilbur was his own man, ran multiple casinos and got himself to the point of almost opening the Desert Inn but Wilbur was a front man at the D.I. for Dalitz and Co.
@@VegasVisual in the time around his death he felt threatened by Moe Dalitz and others in the Cleveland Mob. As I’m sure you know it was a rapidly changing time in Vegas. I now find myself in possession of many of his artifacts from the desert inn, when I get free time I’ll look through all the keepsakes in the garage and memorabilia items.
WOW! Nothings ever really new in Vegas. Feels like alot of things Vegas is trying to do today with sports teams, F1 and casinos was going on 40 years ago.👀
@Vegas Visual. I wanna say I liked this video. I just subscribed because I was interested by the title of your channel. I used to live in Las Vegas for 9 years with my family. We moved to Vegas in 2007 and then moved back to where we used to live in 2017. And just recently we went on a family vacation back to Vegas June 4-12 of 2024
please do a video on fat herbie blitzen one of the most greatest vegas mafioso of the 90s legend says that he was the finacial backer of all black and hispancic drug dealers
I've heard the FedEx story before but the Ruby story was amazing and soooo informative. You have a great channel and I hope it thrives. I'm going to tell ppl about it ❤
Yeah I knew he was a hot head and somewhat of a bully, but I've never heard the story of him having his two front teeth knocked out 😊 Also wasn't really really aware of the tension between him and Howard Hughes that's crazy 😊 I still love Frank he was a phenomenal singer and performer. ❤
This is the absolute most info on this subject than anything I’ve ever seen and I’ve been following Lansky since after the Nixon years. Keep up the good work! It’s an amazing accomplishment this document. Thank You !!
Thank you for the kind words, this project took about four months to put together. I then did a project on Bugsy for about four months but I haven't done a long project since because it takes a lot of effort and time.
@@VegasVisual did you uncover the VINNIE Teresa to Lansky connection / testimony? I always thought that was connected to Vegas but scant information exists
He had trouble in australia 1974 the unions banned his Travel plans until they received an apology about his remarks On women The union.president bob hawke managed to negotiate A sort of compromise and Sinatra was allowed to fly out!
It was revenge for Frank getting out of line, and a lot of other things. And there was nothing that we could do about it. Cohen was a made man, and Frank wasn't. And we had to sit still and take it. It was among the Italians. It was real greaseball shit.
Yeah I recognize "Hermon Moody first blk cop"... He's the one that took off like a bat out of ( ) and gave my mom a ticket for speeding... as we were going down Tonopah HWY toward Las Vegas 1960s... I remember and still remember that look he gave me... that's him this is first time I've seen him from that time decades ago.
@@VegasVisual I spotted him off to the side of the road and he saw me telling my mom "there's a cop!!!" He saw me and chased us down. There were other cars passing us but he targeted us because I tried to warn my mom. He had something to prove to us and to the world.
19:53… how do they know, and what luck, that they did not re-create the twin towers!!!… Which poses the question?…: If they did re-create the twin towers… Would they still have left them up?
I think they would have left them up, but who knows. I believe the design was to only include NYC buildings from the classic skyscraper days before the Twin Towers was built so there probably wasn't much thought to include the Twin Towers.
Here are the "firsts" on the Strip (Highway 91): 1931, Red Rooster (The Mirage site) is believed to have the first casino (first gaming license) on the Strip, opening days after the gambling ban was repealed. 1941, El Rancho Vegas is the first resort casino on the Strip. 1946, Flamingo is the first luxury resort casino on the Strip. You didn't mention the Strip so: The first resort casino in the Las Vegas Valley was the Meadows built in 1931 by Charleston Blvd. and Mojave Blvd. Also, El Cortez is considered the first luxury resort casino in Las Vegas having been built in 1941 on Fremont Street. The current El Cortez owner, Kenny Epstein, was also born in 1941.
Carl Cohen was a "Made Man" in the Mafia and was one of the Chief Overseers in Vegas for "The Family". That is why he got away with hitting Frank and injuring him without repercussions. Frank knew that and was aware that he could not fight Carl back without major blowback, so he did not strike him back as he would have liked to and would have done with anyone else. Wherever Frank went, there was always brawls, damaged furniture, thrown food, broken doors and holes in the walls, along with abused staff who were sometimes also assaulted. Even for his Mob connections, he was an expensive, time-consuming, drama-filled "friend". At a certain point, especially when Sam Giancana was no longer around to back him up, Frank antics became too much for them. He was biting the hand that fed him.
18:37 I never understood, and I never will, how anyone who sings like _this_ was always considered to have a "great" voice. Now, Dean Martin ... DEFINITELY ... but not this guy. There must be a million guys who aren't even in show business who can sing better than Frankie.
Sinatra did have power in Las Vegas in the 1950s, but don’t conveniently forget the power of Howard Hughes in conjunction with the Mormons who are behind a lot of the financing of Vegas in the early days?
The Mormons and the Mob built Vegas. On June 14, 1855 the Mormons arrived in Las Vegas to build their mission, part of which still exists downtown. Las Vegas Historical Moments: 1800's: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uCUJblIjrMA.htmlsi=OuP475o2Z6zsSg9g
From my personal experiences with Frank Sinatra, I contributed a reply, comment, and several facts to this post. It's not to be found here anywhere, so I guess opposing views are not acceptable.
You may have used a word that sets off the algorithm. I'm on these boards a lot, and still occasionally find out a word I thought was perfectly benign could trigger the very prim robot censor.
Thanks, this project started out by trying to do a history of the Sands and then I ended up just doing the Copa Room history because so there so much Copa Room information.
Jewish comedian Joey Bishop famously wrote most of those racist bantering jokes that seemed like the rat pack were riffing. Sinatra didn’t write jokes. Bishop was well know as the paid writer who crafted the comedy routines and jokes
Today I saw a poor guy in a wheelchair with a half of body on oxygen, he was born with some kind of birth Defects. Then I look at Sinatra and successfully people who have everything money Fame Wealth and I think What kind of world is this. I mean I'm normal poor but have my heath. I just can't Figure out why some are more Lucky than others.
@@VegasVisual well I beg to Differ. I just used frank sinatra as a example. I liked his movies Tony rome von Ryan's express none but the brave here to eternity.
😳 You can't figure out simple things?! Can you sing into a microphone while holding a glass of jack Daniel's and a cigarette? No you can't. That's why YOU aren't frank Sinatra. Get it? It's not luck. It's skill. Lol.
I heard Sinatra had a very bad temper, but welshing on bets and getting his fronts knocked out of his mouth gave me an entirely different picture of the man great video man.
