I think this song is about humanity's self destructive nature. We as humans crave for something to distract us from the mundanity of life, whether it be drugs, sex or alcohol, despite its tendency to be self destructive.
Honestly (besides Homage) most of the songs on this album and most likely the other songs from Mile High Club are underrated, they're just as good as Homage, I'm a bit disappointed that most people online, only remember or cover Mile High Club for Homage, I really love all of the songs (well maybe not Whodunnit) from Skiptracing
America, what the fuck? Ain't it hilarious? Runaway chariot Shy of a half a billion guns (Who you with?) Me? I'm with Jesus Is it something in the water? 'Cause it's a me, myself, and dollar hell (Ain't freedom sweet?) Sounds pretty freaky to me What do you mean, buddy? Freedom rings Is it something in the water? 'Cause it's a me, myself, and dollar hell With everything we know What did we suppose was gonna happen to us? Got the plastic blues And all the green's skimmed off the top Me? I'm with reason Is it something in the water? 'Cause it's a me, myself, and dollar hell Ain't freedom sweet?
Chord progressions remind me of Donald Fagen/Steely Dan. Aja/Gaucho/Nightfly type of ambience. I know some people will probably disagree, but it's there haha! Super fkn good
