I wish I could walk My dreams show me striding out But I wake in pain and sadness This world is not designed for me I wish I could walk What would you do When life leaves you so broken I cannot find a positive way Each day a reminder Of what is lost and cannot renew I wish I could walk Over hills and Glens With a dog or a friend Finding joy in my humanity But instead I dwell alone Society offers pity and shame I dwell alone in a bleak trap Incapable of the simplest step Restricted from the easiest path Lost in the most profound way I wish I could walk What more can I say It is so simple in every way Impossible to find any meaning In living today

Whats your thoughts on Transgender people using the Disabled toilet? i waited 20 mins to use the wheelchair toilet and the transgender admitted to doing his make up , i said being transgender is not a disability he said it is he said multiple times being trans is a disability, long story short he threatend to punch me in my face for not acknowledging trans as a disability
@kussemeinkont

Wow, that's outrageously narcissistic if nothing else, pretty sure the trans community don't want it called a disability. Of course you don't see how much anger is directed at trans people on a daily basis, just for going about their business. It seems to personally offend some people, still no excuse for abusing someone waiting for a bathroom. A simple apology isn't that hard surely.

Almost all public restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Do you mean an accessible stall? Those are definitely reserved for wheelchair users. Cancer patients are NOT entitled to bigger stalls as they can use normal sized ones just fine.
@debs2026
@debs2026 5 дней назад
YOU ARE MISTAKEN. A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE STALL IS NOT STRICTLY FOR A WHEELCHAIR USER. IT IS FOR ANY PERSON WHO REQUIRES EXTRA ROOM FOR TOILETING. EG PERSONS WITH AN OSTOMY, A PERSON WHO REQUIRES TOILETING ASSISTANCE FROM ANOTHER PERSON/S . . .

@@debs2026 You make yourself look absolutely ridiculous with the caps my friend. The poster didn’t say anything about the people you are talking about. The point is - if you don’t need the extra space, you’re taking the space away from someone who does. So calm down please.
@cfalkner1012

I’m not sure you can say that almost all public restrooms are accessible. Have you experienced almost all public restrooms in order to verify this fact? Or perhaps just those local to you.
@blindthief
@blindthief 5 дней назад
@@cfalkner1012 I live in America. I can't speak for any other country. I've used plenty of public restrooms in various places such as parks, malls, theaters, restaurants, etc. I've travelled outside my state and have had the same experience. Never had trouble entering public restrooms. Never had problems reaching the sink. Some are smaller than others but there was always enough space to accomodate my wheelchair. Now when we talk about stalls, that's a different ballgame. Not all public restrooms have wheelchair accessible stalls.
@blindthief
@blindthief 5 дней назад
@@debs2026 I don't have to list EVERY disability that requires extra space for toileting. If I did that I'd be sitting here all day. Reason why I mentioned wheelchair users only is because I wanted to keep it short and simple but still get my point across. But sure, if you're morbidly obese, for example, you're entitled to a bigger stall. You can stop crying now.

Hey there Fred. What a brave guy you are. Just watched your video and you have inspired me. I had a car crash back in May 2021. At the time of the accident i had my own business, was very successful and had a wife and kids but was going through a divorce as i was struggling with my sexuality, i was a very fit guy, 3rd dan black belt chief instructor and had it all. Then, BANG……i was T-Boned at a junction by an ambulance. Dead at the scene but they got me going again, spent 7 weeks in a coma and 4mths in hospital. I had a smashed pelvis, liver lacerations, my spleen had to be removed, 3 smashed ribs on my right side and 10 smashed ribs on my left side. I am more metal now than bone. I had a massive head injury and my right ear was ripped off and also had brain damage too. My urethra was ripped to shreds by my pelvis and i cant pee or anything else in that department and now have a catheter in my bladder through my tummy and have had 2 failed surgeries since to repair it and still no luck. I also have gone through massive stages of depression, i am in constant chronic pain, still on the morphine 7 times a day and cannot walk without my crutches or get around in my wheelchair. Tried to take my life on 2 occasions as id had enough. I have had no one to talk to about my difficulties and to see your video tonight made me smile, someone talking about their own experiences and to be so brave as to do a video. You made me smile Fred. You keep strong my friend and im going to watch your other videos. Take good care of yourself. Richard xxx

Could you not tie in your process of trying to give some value back (with freebies etc) with a course you could both design for a fee but rather than charging a fortune for it as you say some courses do, make it more accessible to a larger number of people by offering a lower cost? Either as a one off course cost covering all things you feel would be beneficial to people who have recently suffered an SCI or a course over a set number of weeks/months with different content in each one, perhaps even extending the service you provide to being mentors where you can chat to people who are going through things that you’ve been through yourself already? You guys are so eloquent and informative and I can see a lot of people would benefit from having your knowledge and experience to call upon and I’m sure would be more than happy to pay a reasonable fee to be able to utilise that kind of service. If you got sponsors from firms offering things which would be of benefit to the people who sign up to the course (like a catheter company as you mentioned) then you could give people who sign up a ‘welcome pack’ or a monthly/bi-monthly package which contain things that could provide them with goods which will bring added benefit to being a ‘subscriber’. Yes there is a lot of free content out there - I know Fred covers a lot of it on his RU-vid but this course would gather all of those great resources into one place which saves having to sift through a lot of different videos in a lot of different places. Just an idea but I don’t think you should feel guilty about monetising your services, so long as it provides value to the users and is not excessive in terms of costs like some of the courses you mentioned then I think you’d get a lot of appreciation for that. Either way, keep up the good work you both do, I love watching your videos!

Further to that question on when the disability occurs, my wife and I discussed it at length this afternoon. We, because of our experience, also wonder how this compares to someone who has been disabled from birth, like my wife. She’s never been able to do certain things. And, because of our age, the opportunities to try some of these things in an adapted way, just weren’t available 40 or 50 years ago. I think this is starting to bother her more now.
