My name is Jim Overton and I live on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire in the UK. I make and create all kinds of things, from many different materials, including, wood, leather, plastic, carbon fibre, resin and metal. I do a lot of Woodturning but also do wood carving, cold casting, knife making and leatherwork. I also am into 3D scanning, 3D design, 3D printing, laser engraving and cutting.
It was a pleasure to meet you again plus got a chance to have a chat with you and managed to get scanned on the last day just as you were packing away ..i did recive my file thanks sooooooo much to you and the team on the day ...thanks so much Jim
You need to purchase the splitter separately. I finished the stool with Plastikote Gloss polyurethane varnish ( spray can ). 2 coats , light sand between coats.
Your voice sounds just like the voice actor John Cureless as Ephraim ti Horn in the red rising audiobook… it’s fantastic. Anyways, thank you for the very informative video. Exactly what I needed
Epoxy resins are usually colorless, crystal clear and stain very well. Various methods are used to color casting epoxy resin. Pigments for epoxy resin can have different consistencies and their use varies accordingly. Thicker resin pigments are classified as "pigment pastes" and are used for rich, opaque coloring of the resin. Pigments for resin in a liquid state belong to the category of "pigment solutions" and are used to create transparent, transparent castings. Mica pigment powders for resin are loose materials.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video and show us an actual 3D printed product from the Shapr3D software. Well done mate Question: the visible layer lines, is that because the Ender printer doesn't have the facility to print thinner or nearly invisible layer lines, or is this a speed / machine setting choice you made? Thank you.
I could have printed it with thinner layers and the ASA filament was probably not the best choice. I love using the software and use it several times per week, it really is amazingly easy to use. You can see it in use again in my latest video ( 3D scanning at Makers Central). Many thanks for watching.
I have the most updated version on my pc and the app won’t open at all. Any suggestions? I haven’t been able to try it out because it won’t open. Keeps crashing
A simple tip - don't cut round bowl blanks! Cut them with straight cuts to make octagons instead; it is simple to turn the octagons to round once on the lathe. This avoids the problem of consistent curved cuts altering the set of your blade teeth, as described in the video.
Lovely bit of kit Jim I recently picked up a second hand bs350s and I’m really pleased with it record power make some great machinery. Looking forward to seeing you at makers mate 👍🏻
I probably don’t use my Sonic pad to its full potential but it I love the user interface. My S1 pro has been my most used printer and is still going strong after many hours of use. The K1 has kind of taken over as No1 recently mainly because of its high speed
Good morning Jim. Another interesting video. I do Like Record Power machinery and the people at Yandles could not be more helpful. Just a shame it’s a four hour drive 🌞
Yes Yandles is a great shop. Everyone one is very friendly and knowledgeable and they have a great relationship with Record Power. It is a 2.5 hour trip for me but well worth it.
It wasn't anything special, I purchased a cheap turntable of eBay and cut out a circle of 6mm MDF as a top, this I sprayed it black and glued a few thin blocks underneath to keep it centred on the top of the turntable
@Scotdavis> can you please let me know if i can order this from Amazon. and what speed of the wood lathe should be used., may I have your email id to send my request. thanks
The texturing tool is Robert Sorby and should be available on several websites, not sure about Amazon. Milliput is available on Amazon in the UK. Not sure what the lathe speed was, it was a long time ago, I just use a speed that feels right, from experience
Thank you so much for this. This is what I'm trying to do, but an RC rabbit or rat instead for my rescue stray adolescent puppy - I'm disabled and walking the pup so much is making my arthritis a lot worse. I think the difference is that I'll just get a car and glue a ton of velcro attachments on top so the dogs can snatch toys off of the car just a platform for high value toys

To be fair I’ve yet to get anything beyond a pile of mangled filament from my S1 no matter how many calibrations I do I’ve been over z axis esteps flow rates the lot. This printer is not for beginners. Certainly not investing in anything else. Nor do I understand why I need to.
Hi Jim thanks for posting,I have just purchased the Ender 3 S1 pro, is the enclosure ok for this model ? Is there enough room at the rear for the power cable or does it press against the housing ? Your opinion would be much appreciated cheers Paul
It does fit but it is a bit tight, from memory I think I angled it slightly. It was certainly easier once connected to the Sonic pad because it meant I could take the screen off. They do make a bigger enclosure but it is very big. I used mu S1 in the smaller enclosure for a long time without any issues.
