We are passionate about traveling, bicycling, and hiking. Our goal is to expose people to the wonderful and beautiful opportunities to get out and explore our world, especially at a slower pace using a bicycle and walking. We are not monetizing anything on our channel and simply want to share the wonderful things we encounter. Rich and Julie
Richard, your in our state !!! Just East of St. Louis is the MCT (Madison County Transit trail network). Let me know if you ever want to ride them. You could probably make 5 videos over there. I could ride with you like the first day, or more.
The whole Katy Trail and Rock Island Trail system is amazing, you definitely need to experience it. I was amazed we could just ride in and around the stadium. Thanks for watching!
I believe you can, it is a good bike path. You need a front light or flashlights to illuminate the way. We started at a parking lot on the Madrid side that has a gravel path to the bike path, I would not recommend it, although it was okay. Here is the ride with GPS tracking of our ride: ridewithgps.com/trips/168481505
Have a great time, Coeur d'Alene is beautiful. Also check out the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes bike path especially the bridge near Chatcolet. Thanks for watching!
Here is a blog post I wrote a few years back. themnmoores.net/RichBlogs/2020/CitizenFoldingBikeUpdate/CitizenFoldingBikeUpdate.html Bottom line, we really like them. I am also going to be having a video review about them in about a month. Thanks for watching.
That is interesting that it was on the old Rock Island rail line. I have ridden the "rock" out of Kansas City by the stadiums and part of the Pleasant Hill section. It eventually connects to the Katy Trail in Windsor MO. Nice video.
I found that interesting also. Even more interesting is that I am currently working on the video from our ride of the Rock Island trail in Kansas City. Thanks for watching!
@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoorethe rock island someday will parallel the KATY but curve to the south. With a connector trail it will be an amazing loop. Probably 300 miles.
No, only when there's an extra sign (Blue with white text: 'rechtsaf voor fietsers vrij' ) but going thru red is very 'Dutch'. Especially in Amsterdam ;)
Nice job. I've never heard of this trail until I saw your video. I'm planning a trip to the High Trestle Trail this summer and it looks like I could add the Wapsi to that trip. I'm assuming you are using a drone for some of these shots. Is that correct? In any event, thanks for your effort. Do you have any experience with the Paul Bunyan Trail in Minnesota?
Thanks. The WASPI would definitely be worth a ride. We did the Paul Bunyan back in 2019 before I was doing video. here are some pictures themnmoores.net/Photos2019/PaulBunyanBikeTrail/photoslideshow.html Definitely worth riding although I would rate the Mesabi Trail higher. I don't have a drone but use a 4 foot selfie stick with my arm raised to get a pseudo drone effect. Just can't bring myself to spend the money for the drone plus the extra time to set up and fly the drone would cut into our ride time. Thanks for watching!
hi bikers i am a bike rider from the 70s will never wear a helmut but anyways the problem is there should be a trail from duluth to canada and there is not in certain areas bikes have to ride on hgy 61 with a very narrow shoulder totally unsafe i live in this area the reason there is no countinous trail is the unbeliveablyt rich people living on the lake will not allow it mainley the encampment river area
I guess each to their own on helmets, but having crashed twice while wearing a helmet with no head injuries makes me a believer. Also, I have attended to people who have crashed without a helmet who have had pretty bad head injuries and concussions. You are right about the North shore being dangerous for bicycling and the slow progress of a bicycle path. I would guess it will happen eventually but not in my life time 😞 Thanks for watching.
On the route from Sluis to Zuidzande you passed my parents house. You have to be a little bit lucky with the weather, but then Zeeland is beautiful, also along the coast 👍
Glad you liked it! With us all being mid 60s or older there is no extreme mountain biking! It is just fun to cruise around in the woods and enjoy the beauty. It is much easier than hiking. Thanks for watching!
@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore I've been involved with trail advocacy down in Rochester and it can be really difficult to convince people that it's not all just going off jumps. Mountain biking is such a great way to get exercise out in the fresh air! Thanks again!
You did a great job of highlighting that route! We are so fortunate to have the great off highway bicycle infrastructure here. Thank you for sharing your ride!
Thanks, you have wonderful bicycling down there. Iowa continues to impress us as we did three new trails there a couple of weeks ago (videos to come). Thanks for watching!
Same here, I really enjoyed the whole series and the two of you really entered the spirit of the Dutch cycling. It looks like Tulip tours were a good partner in the experience, did they move your luggage between your overnight stops? I can't wait to get back over, the Netherlands is a great model for how 21st Century living should be.
I don't have a drone, but do have a 5 foot selfie stick that I lift up as high as I can to get a pseudo drone effect. Something I picked up from the joyful trails channel youtube.com/@joyfultrails?si=O1k1E5PskMTi6gqD. I have thought about a drone but the hassle of setting it up and flying seems like it would distract from enjoying our rides. Thanks for watching!
Many thanks for posting this, and once again it was along much of the route we took from Sluis to Rotterdam to celebrate my 60th in 2022, so thanks for bringing back the happy memories. It really is a lovely place to cycle, even with the wind.
We prefer off-road trails if possible. Washington Island was fun due to the lack of traffic. It does look like one could ride some low traffic roads in door county. Definitely give the Ahnapee trail a try. Thanks for watching!
Glad the video was helpful. You may want to check the current trail conditions on the Wisconsin DNR website. From what I know from people who ride the trail last summer it is totally open but always good to double-check. Have a great ride, it is a wonderful ride. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for posting this, you guys are great ... a really positive attitude to cycling. We had the pleasure of living in the Netherlands in the early 1990s and love to go back. We have cycled the route you followed just about the same time a year earlier, Belgium was surprisingly great the Damse Vaart canal is very special.
Glad you enjoyed it! What was it like to live in the Netherlands? Of course the bicycling would be wonderful, but one always wonders what it would be like to live in a country versus visiting. Thanks for watching!
@@RichardMooreAndJulieMoore We really enjoyed it, we moved there in 1991 because we knew it was great for cycling and started our family there. In many ways I wish we had stayed. I watched the rest of the RU-vid clips over the last few days, it looked an amazing trip.
I think the holiday you were referring to was a German one! On the 3rd of October, the Germans celebrate the "Tag der deutschen Einheit", the celebration of the reunification on the 3rd October of 1990, one year after the fall of the Berlin wall. Many Germans just take a few days of and celebrate it in the Netherlands!😂 So you probably saw a lot of German tourists!
That would make sense. Now that I think about it we encountered many German Tourists enjoying the same holiday last year in the Alsace. Thanks for watching!
I use it with the small cage that is standard with the Osmo Action with no issues. It seems to be designed for the extra width of the cage in mind. Thanks for watching!
Although I only live 4 miles from where I worked, the bicycling infrastructure was so marginal it felt like your life was in peril when I rode. I wish for wonderful infrastructure here so I can do more of my daily tasks by bicycle in safety. Thanks for watching.
We live in Maasland, a little old village wich you sadly missed on your way to Delft. We regularly make day trips on our bikes to Brielle and te coast of Oostvoorne via that same ferry. Delft is a town full of history. Birthplace of Vermeer and Van Leeuwenhoek, and with the royal graves in the Nieuwe Kerk at the Market square.
Wow, we bicycled close and around your village. The Netherlands has so many wonderful places to explore you could spend months riding around. Delft was a great city. Thanks for watching!
One of the best, calm, trail videos I've seen. Lovely rideable trail. I've enjoyed all your videos but this one gave me a deep sigh over what I've lost due to steady decrease in vision. I ride a recumbent tadpole trike for safety. My 1995 AlpineStar rests in my basement, a great bike to ride. I rode it around the southern half of Vancouver Island in 1997 to celebrate turning 50......sigh....... Thanks for the Adventures!
Happy you are enjoying our videos! It is a nice trail, it flowed nicely and for us older guys it was fun. The next day of riding was on rocky trails, a bit more work (video to come). Thanks for watching!
