skim boarding looks more my style , heading out and coming right back in seems a lot better than bobing up and down on a surf board out deep with your legs in the water waiting for your wave.
This is a joke where are all the videos from this past year? It’s been three months since the last contest and you’ve only post Santa Cruz which was in May , it’s not like the videos aren’t made , but where the promoting? Where’s the sponsors ? Where is the media? The posters? Contests ? We are trying to generate revenue but stick to a lame schedule that is set on 2 days and most of the time the skim absolutely blows that’s why no one wants to do contests it’s poorly run , theirs no promoting , there is no media present , like this is the championship tour and you guys do absolutely fucking nothing!!!!!
You're right man. But you've to think that is not easy to find sponsors for a sport like skimboarding. The big public follows surf and brands like billabong or quicksilver invest a lot in surf (even though I think surf is suffering a little crisis, comparing to 2009/2010). Also skateboarding is out of the scenes comparing to 90's or 00's. Personally I think that, even though this Channel doesn't post videos about UST , we are lucky to have a competition like THE VIC every year, or the Oktoberfest, which are well filmed, edited and, above all, live streamed. I hope skimboarding will increase his importance in this new decade because the riders who competed into the 2019 UST Tour have really crazy skills, talent and true passion for the sport, even though they are not well repaid in terms of money, comparing to surf athletes.
Even though we don't have WSL level production, I think it's quite clear from their youtube page as well as the success of BEEFS.TV that people just want raw footage these days. They want to "feel like they are there". I don't think we need this music and voice overs and editing (intros?). I hope I can make it down to Aliso/Balboa this year to do some filming/skimming.
