So you’re blanching it on the cob in the husk and then shucking it. Definitely an outdoor endeavor, but much faster than how we do it. We shuck it the traditional way then slice it off the cob and blanch it. Cool the pan in ice water then into the freezer bags. Hard work but I can do it in the mechanical room in the basement in the air conditioning. Everything is a trade off.😊

We live in a desert, but we have irrigation water from reservoirs in the mountains. So thankful for it. Without it we would not be able to have our garden & fruit trees and berries. Sorry y'all are having such a drought.

Seems lately there is never a happy medium regarding weather, you have a drought and up North here we have way too much rain, reeking havoc with mold and mildew on the squash, zucchini and cucumber leaves, cherry spot on the leaves of the cherry trees, fungus starting on the peaches and plums just too much rain. I have a steep road also like you that leads to my property just not serpentine like yours, mine is a straight run of about 2000 feet downhill and I'll bet I lost 4-6 inches of top coat off the road in the last 3 years with those freakish downpours where we get 1 inch of rain in 30 minutes so now all the base 2-3 inch stone/rock is showing and the vehicles are take a pounding driving on it, got to get the York rake out and drag it all to one side and then bucket it up into a pile. Hope the weather get better for you and me.

I have a Bumbry rocking chair from the 1880’s that needs to be recained. Original cane 1/4”. I’ve not been able to find anybody to do the work for me so I guess I’m going to have to learn and do it myself. Absolutely the best rocking chair I have ever sat in in my life. It has quite a history.

My grandma had a refrigerator just like yours. It's manual defrost and I remember boiling water and putting it in the fridge to hurry up and melt the ice all around the freezer. It worked good when she gave it away, she was just tired of manual defrost. It's dry all over the southeast another homestead said their tomatoes didn't do good this year. I enjoy your video.

Hope yall finally started getting some rain. I'm in east Tennessee, about 40 miles N/E of Knoxville, and we were in a drought but we've gotten a lot of rain over the last week. As I type this, I can hear the rain outside, been raining on and off all day long. I never complain about the rain, it's always a blessing.

Here in Portland, Oregon it's been up to 100 degrees F. for several weeks. There are fires in the East part of the state. I have to water my little garden at least 2 times daily just to keep it from withering. My tomatoes got sunburned and aren't setting fruit well. The only things doing well are the herbs like rosemary, thyme and oregano, and mint. Even the flowers are struggling. All this by the middle of July. I hate to think what August will bring--it can be in the high 90's for weeks then. Not a good garden this year at all, even with water.

Last time we got rain was June 21, 1/8th and it came down in a flash! Kinda scary, currently there's rain clouds around us but we're not scheduled for any, i guess, lol. I'm in NW New Mexico 👍🏼😊, (we're used to only receiving rain during monsoon season, which is "now")

My grandmother would make cream style corn with those types of ears. My grandfather worked for International Harvester way back, they had a refrigerator like that one made by IH. Grandma got a new fridge sometime in the 70's but the IH went on the carport and she used it there. Years later my father got it and used in his office, then ... I got in in the early 1980's and used it in my office for many years,. When I left that job and moved away, my brother was still working there and it still worked. Never had it worked on, it just worked all the time with no service ever.

I'm in Jefferson County East Tennessee, I don't know if I'll get a single ear of corn. Ain't got one mater this year. Beans and taters were just ok, probably the worst garden I've ever had in my 43 years.

bout 2 hours south of you near Tn. Va. line and we are burning up too. That old fridge is a good'n We had one growing up and I know it had to be at least 50 years old when it finally kicked the bucket in the late 90's early 2000's. Used to have to manually defrost it every now and then good find there.

I remember Mom having to defrost the freezer! The next one they got was frost free, my Mom demanded it! Sorry about your corn, the farmers market isn't selling much!

Always look forward to your videos! The weather has been 🥵 and dry here also. Our corn is about 3 ft tall and ears look no bigger than a hotdog if that. Cooler temps coming in but very slight chance for rain. Gardens are having a rough go this year. That old fridge looks great. I wish everything was built to last like it use to be. Hopefully rain will come through before long and Bless everyone that has a garden and cans up their own vegetables. Take care and God’s Blessings on you and your family. Looking forward to your next video.
