Thank you for this. My wife recently retired and I am hoping to join her in the next couple years. But being a planner, I am already going down the path of trying to collect as many points as possible. Getting set up on almost every airlines FF program, collecting information about things like health insurance, planning the slow travel itinerary (would like more about how to do that while also trying to pack light). There is just so much in this world and I don't want to wait until I'm 65 to start seeing more of it.

Super! You've got some fun times ahead. Did you watch our packing light video? We've got a great points and rewards video coming up in the queue.

@@EatWalkLearn I've watched a lot of packing light videos. I just don't understand how a couple can pack light (and lets be honest, my wife struggles a LOT more than I do with packing light) when they are going to be gone for a long time and may have to deal with changing seasons, etc. Heck just a couple weeks ago we went from high 80s one day to 50 degrees the next and this was late May when that isn't really expected. Do you just pick up coats and stuff at second hand stores to get you through or do you simply plan your travel for exclusively warm weather?

I've been on the road internationally over the past few years and I definitely agree with your top 4 suggestions.

Great video! There are so many of these little details nomads have to find solutions for, so it is great to get started out on the right foot. (Even though things are always changing and the solution you start with probably won't last forever.)

I have both Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve cards but prefer Reserve for most transactions. The hefty $550 annual fee is offset by the $300 annual travel credit, insurance coverage, travel benefits and higher points accrual, making it practically no fee. Best of all, my Reserve credit limit is 3X my Sapphire limit so I never need to worry about covering large purchases. I pay the full balance before the due date every month so interest rates aren't a concern for me.

That's excellent. We haven't gotten a Reserve yet because we think it's best feature is lounge access. Since we haven't been flying (enough) to take advantage of this, we've put it off. But next time we're eligible for a Sapphire sub, we'll jump on it.

This is a great video! Have you asked RV escapees to forward mail to you overseas through Fedex? If yes, how much did it cost and how long did it take? I am assuming that you ask them to forward mail when you get replacement credit cards, etc? Thank you for all you do.
@EatWalkLearn

Yes, we've had them ship to Ireland. About $75 and about a week. Yup, we needed a lost drivers license. The credit cards really necessary because they autoflow into our digital wallets usually.

Great video! How does rv escapee differ from a regular virtual mailbox service such as traveling mailbox or virtual post mail?
@EatWalkLearn
@EatWalkLearn 24 дня назад
I don't know about the others, but Escapees helps us with voting and jury duty. Banks recognize it as a street address rather than a commercial service.

I forgot all about the possibility of getting jury duty selection 😮. I have a Google voice number for businesses but can you connect to what's app? 🤔

I have recently heard anecdotally (FB usergroups, RU-vid) that Google is clamping down on people using Google Voice overseas, as its intended for use in the US. Do you guys have any thoughts/info on this?
@EatWalkLearn
@EatWalkLearn 5 месяцев назад
We've had no issues with Voice. It's Fi that's been the problem.
@heythave

Google is an international company. It would be petty on their part if they clamp it down.
