We drain the water to digest but we drink the water for indigestion and fever. It is contradicting message. My grandmother drained the water while cooking in clay pot in a wood stove when I was a kid but used the water for washing hair or for plants. We drink rice kanji when we were sick. It is more like porriage with rice and water.
