Howdy yall, I was and still am a HUGE OILERS FAN! I do however love old school Football as well. I have several games from the 60's through the 90's. If I have a game that I don't see on here, I'll probably post them. Today's Football just ain't the same as the classics or the men who played the game like the kids playing today! The players today have no clue!
I remember watching the AFL games Sunday afternoons on NBC . They usually came on at 3:00 p.m. I loved to watch them. I became a Charger fan back then . Paul Lowe , Ernie Ladd and Earl Faison were my favorites
Oilers-terrible defense-no offence- bad coaching, I remember this game there was no cable so millions were watching it and everyone at the bowling alley was laughing they lost next game and the play-off game and Glanville was outta their
If Houston, at any point, but together some thing that resembled ball control to shorten games, they might have won a playoff game once in a while and not had the losses they did.
I grew up in Houston and followed the Oilers as far back as the Earl Campbell era but I have no recollection of this game. In the second half ending with a Del Greco FG with 7:32 left the game had gone Hou turns over the ball on downs, then Pit turns over the ball on downs, then Moon throws an INT in the end zone, Kevin Greene is hit for a personal foul after the INT so half the distance, then Tomczak immediately throws an INT to Dishman leading to Del Greco's 3rd FG. The Choke in previous year's playoffs then the 1-4 start really deflated many fans. Reliving this Oilers season building up to their best record since the 1980 season is very entertaining.
David Woodley was a better QB than people give him credit. Yes, the numbers could be ugly, but he called his own plays and knew how to manage a game. There are reasons why HoF coaches Don Shula and Chuck Noll saw him as a franchise QB. R.I.P.
35:52 - Should have been a TD? Tremendous run by Campbell and he scores on the next play 1:49:19 - Campbell TD 2:06:54 - Where are you going Delvin Williams? 2:50:29 - Campbell TD 3:02:24 - The run everyone looks for
What great uniforms the teams had in 1979. The Chargers had the No-1 offense in 1979. For all the good it did them 1979-82. Choke! Choke! Choke! Choke!
1:33:55 Dan Dierdorf really hit on something there, and that's why the Giants had worse records every year under Reeves. He wanted and should have had some player personnel control. But George Young had an iron fist over that. And although Young was a great drafter, the Giants never were able to deal with the salary cap, so yes you had good players in 1993 and 1994. They lost Simms and LT but they had a good crop of young talent especially on defense: Thomas Randolph, Phillipi Sparks, Corey Miller and of course Michael Strahan. Rodney Hampton had a short career too. More good players would come in and leave just as quickly: CB Jason Sehorn, DL Keith Hamilton, OL Ron Stone and Scott Gragg. WR Ed McCaffrey. The problem is the Giants were never able to keep a roster together because of bad cap management and that's why they would tank the next two years. Bad personnel decisions. Dan Reeves was a head or assistant coach on four NFL teams. Three of them went to the Super Bowl while he was there. The Giants were the only exception, and it was that lack of control, and he and the front office were never on the same page. He really deserved better.
The beginning of an era with Jeff Fisher. Five years later he'd take the team (now the Tennessee Titans) to the Super Bowl. The Oilers not only brought in a new coach, but in one week scrapped the run and shoot and put in a whole new offense. I guess if you're 1-9 you're about to play your first six 1995 preseason games.
20:08 old school, big boy pants shot by Donnie Shell....straight from the 70s 🔨 dont you miss THIS type of football? Moon was tiptoeing for a few more yards, Shell put his ass down with extreme prejudice. 🤷♂️
I remember Chuck Nolls team of the 70ies were the dirtiest team in the 70ies also with the Raiders. Glen Edwards hitting Anderson out of bounds Greene and Lambert spitting on peoples faces and kneeing them Donnie Shell .Merlin Olsen once said the reason Why Bradshaw and Swann got hurt so much was because of there Defense
