This was the "handshake game" where Noll wouldn't let go of Glanville's hand until he lectured Glanville about dirty play - which is LOL since the Steelers have always been a dirty team, especially under Noll. Really clear picture of this broadcast - a rarity from the VCR era. Love watching the Steelers lose.
Chuck Noll acting like a baby when years earlier they used to cheap shot Warren Moon.Loved that the Oilers started slapping the squealers around for a change....good times
My friend loves the Steelers and I remember watching this game with him. Say what you will about Bud Adams but he still did really well with his draft picks. William Fuller, Childress, and that offensive line! And then they pulled the trigger to land Sean Jones the following year.
I remember Chuck Nolls team of the 70ies were the dirtiest team in the 70ies also with the Raiders. Glen Edwards hitting Anderson out of bounds Greene and Lambert spitting on peoples faces and kneeing them Donnie Shell .Merlin Olsen once said the reason Why Bradshaw and Swann got hurt so much was because of there Defense
Noll was, of course, right about the Oilers being dirty, but he was in no position to level the criticism. I have rewatched *numerous* Steeler games from their glory years. After watching them, there’s no question they were the single most talented team in the league. But also, I found their reputation for taking cheap shots on defense (second only the the Raiders back then) was quite justified. But as his complaints about Oakland after they injured Swann show-along with this-he didn’t like receiving what his own teams (at least in the 70’s) often dished out.
