I'm a lifelong music fan and record collector. I have in the past edited my own fanzine, and also contributed to other fanzines and music magazines.

My RU-vid channel will cover power pop, garage rock, punk rock, psychedelia, jangle pop, paisley underground, indie pop and anything else which takes my fancy.

Expect to see videos on old vinyl and CDs I've been listening to during Lockdown 3 here in the UK. There will also be the odd video on miscellaneous music-related topics.

I'm looking forward to reading your comments. Hopefully I'll point you in the direction of some music you've not heard before, and vice versa. As much as I love the all-time greats like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Byrds, Pink Floyd, Clash etc., it's always exciting to discover something new.

Interesting mix Carl. I really should investigate Uriah Heep more deeply, as I just have a CD comp and like hammond rock. I need to get that Soft Cell album back into the collection. I have the singles and 12"s. I have so many CDs stacked-up but recently I've been enjoying the Now 12" series. Cheers Dale

Nice collection of eclectic CDs again Carl. Pin Ups by Bowie is great. Sorrow is one of my favorite songs he does. That Waterboys album looks interesting. Clouds is another great album you picked out. The one that stands out that you showed is Media Whores, that one I'm definitely going to checkout for sure. Sicko is another one (you know more about Seattle bands than I do.) I only know them in name only. The Spungetones is another one that looks like I should have a listen to, Grapefruit as well. Great indepth analysis on these CDs Carl. Nobody does it better!

Hi 👋 Greetings from New Zealand. I saw David Bowie in concert here in NZ back in 1978. It was his Stage tour concert. Good memory for me as I was 18 years young at the time. I would like that Bangles Gold cd set. Because it has remixes. I like that. I have just a best of hits from the group on cd. I liked the British Two Tone Ska music scene. Bands such as The Specials , Bad Manners , Selecter , and The Beat. From Carl.

@carltweed942 20 дней назад
Hi Carl. I never saw Bowie live. I did have a chance to see him play with Tin Machine but passed ... Usually when I show charity shop CD finds, I've already listened to them and can give a quick opinion on the music. As these were all still sealed, I couldn't do that. If I do like the Bangles remixes, I'll mention that in a future video. As a general rule though, I'm not a fan of remixes ... The 2 Tone/ska revival bands were massive here in the UK. The Specials, Madness and the Beat were my favourites. All the best from the UK.

Wonderful stuff Carl . I love that Sam Cooke song, used to be followed by the equally amazing ‘Nothing Can Change This Love’ ’ on the Man & His Music comp. The only Yum Yums I know is the girl group who put out the Nothern Soul Stomper ‘It’s Going To Be A Big Thing’

Hi Harris. The Norwegian Yum Yums are right up my street - guitar pop punk/power pop ... Sam Cooke's voice is one of the wonders of the world. Cheers.

Lovely Dream Syndicate single. Good to see The Cynics too. Never knew about Carbon / Silicon...

Hi John. I think it was you that showed the Cynics' first album recently? It must have been in the back of my mind when I picked out that single ... I picked up that Dream Syndicate single many years ago in Madrid. It still has a sticker on it for 700 pesetas ... Some enterprising record label (or better still Mick Jones and Tony James) should put together a CD box set of all the Carbon/Silicon stuff.

Great Super Furry Animals singles Carl. I am as very evident in my videos, a huge SFA fan. Don’t have those two mind. Great and interesting bunch there 😊

Hi Morten. Super Furry Animals were such a great band. If you don't know the Yum Yums, they are well worth a listen; one of my favourite Norwegian bands. All the best.

Some great looking sleeves and labels of songs/bands that I mostly don't know Carl. A decent cover of Shake Some Action sounds interesting, I'll try and seek that out for a listen. Cheers Dale

Hi Dale. I've always liked 7-inch singles. I've managed to pick up a lot over the years for reasonable prices. Those Super Furry Animals picture discs for example were probably 99p each from HMV ... The Yum Yums' version of 'Shake Some Action' is worth hearing. It's on the Joy Of The Single playlist on my channel. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.

Hi Carl! Very cool to see that Sun 7" from the Killer! Those picture discs are pretty cool too!

Hi Mark. The Jerry Lee Lewis b-side 'You Win Again' is excellent. So sad that most of the original rock 'n' rollers have passed away ... Super Furry Animals were one of the best British bands ever. So clever.

Oops, sorry Mike. With you mentioning Jerry Lee, I thought you were Mark from Mad4Vinyl! It was late!

Another nice selections of 7 inch singles Carl. I have heard a few of those tracks but not all. Paul McCartney has said that 'God Only Knows' is the greatest song ever written.

Hi Tom. I'm picking out the cream of my 7-inch singles for this series. There are a lot of dodgy ones I'm leaving out! You can hear a selection of tracks on the Joy Of The Single playlist. Who am I to argue with Paul McCartney.

Apologies if you're here to see 'Goo Goo Muck' by the Cramps. Due to an editing glitch, I had to delete the end of the video which included the Cramps and the Users. I will show these in the next episode of 'The Joy Of The Single'.

We call them op shops in Australia:) My most recent find and my best is the White album by the Beatles and a 2 cd set of Creedence Clearwater Revival which is brilliant. $5 for the White and only $1.70 for the CCR. I am working on collecting all the Paul Simon Art Garfunkel as well as their albums when together. I picked up Wednesday 3 am (record)and it’s very good

Op shops? I' didn't know that ... Can't go wrong with CCR ... I picked up an Art Garfunkel 2CD compilation in recent weeks, which I've not yet listened to. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Totally agree about Bruce's Only The Strong lp... They work a lot better live in concert with a full band treatment then they do on the studio lp

I like the 'Only The Strong Survive' CD. However, I've heard 'Nightshift' live on RU-vid and it works well - still slick but with more energy. Thanks for watching.
