Great video so informative and lovely images. I bought an Asahi Pentax-A 50mm 1.4 MF lens for my K3 but I cannot get metering in manual drive mode on my VF or lcd. Do I shoot in auto on drive button (camera switched to MF).
Wow those infrared photos are incredible !!! I just bought this camera after I got a GR III from Ricoh same as you used the GR II alongside it and will see how well It does for me. I used FUJI X100V before but prefer Ricoh/Pentax colours hopefully I will like it because the features are so useful at such a low price point in 2024
I have this camera since new from 09 with the full kit and boxes the hol shebang it takes great pics cost me nearly a grand back then. The view finder is a killer love it. 🐊
I think you’re right and quite insightful: doing something new and interesting and different, even if it feels like a gimmick, is a great way to spark inspiration and creativity.
I like those images you took with the K10D and the FA 35mm F/2 especially. I have a K10D and the same lens as well. Put the battery grip on mine. I don't use it as much since I got the K-5II.
I own many cameras, both film and digital. But I have not bought a new camera in ten years. Though I will this year. But I will say as photo editing software and apps get better every year, they breathe new life into older cameras. I have an Olympus XZ1 and a Panasonic LX100 that produce even more beautiful images today then when I first bought these cameras due to ever better photo editing. And your photos were great!
i use a canon a560.. it appears to me as if chdk lags on it?.. i am confused and still want to shoot raw .. check out some clicks i made using that camera on my community page... ignore the cringy video
I also had both, but sold the X-E1 & kept the X-E2. You neglected to mention the fact that the X-E2 has noticeably less shutter lag and quicker & more accurate focusing (the X-E1 has lesser contrast focusing only) than the X-E1 as well
I wish you mentioned how the two lenses compare on CAs. Pentax M is a descendant of SMC Tokumar, so one would expect decent coatings. Not sure about the Minolta from the same period.
Excellent camera, probably generally underrated now although over priced on used market as most digicams are now. But one of Canon's best so called point and shoots. I'm still using the S95 and S100, still great at low ISO. Your images are good, so it probably doesn't really matter too much which camera you use.
Great photos. Totally agree with you. There was a sweet spot of good premium small sensor compacts. Good lenses, fast apertures, manual controls (Fuji X30, Ricoh GRD IV, Lumic LX7, etc).
thank you so much for theo video. may i ask 2 questions with the lens - can you use a filter WHILE using the provided lens hood - how do you your manual focusing experience (if any) with the lens? thank you
I had the Meike 50mm 0.95 for a short while, it looks almost identical to this one (which is kinda odd) and it had a little slack in the focus ring. When I focused too far in one direction and needed to go back, it took like half a millimeter before the glass started moving. Does this 7Artisans lens also have this issue?
I just got a GX200 a few days ago and am already loving it - especially the EVF. Also loving the zoom feature and the easy menu navigation. Ricoh colors look great…. And It’s a nice companion to my GRII ! Thx for the review Juan.
I'm a hardcore-Pentaxian, too. Bodywise I use K1000, KM, KX, K2, MX, LX, 2 MEs and a K-5 DSLR. And there is quite an abundance of lenses: M 4/20mm, FA* 2/24mm, M 2.8/28mm, K 2/35mm, M 2.8/40mm, M 1.7/50mm, K 4/50 macro, K 1.8/55mm, K 1.8/85mm, M 2.8/100mm, K 2.5/135mm, M 4/200mm, K 4/300mm, FA 3.2-4.5/28-105, DA 3.5-5.6/18-55mm WR, DA 4/16-45mm and a Sigma 4-5.6/55-200mm DC. A lot of stuff, but I love all of it, especially the old analog material...
I am 67 years old and I started my journey in SLR photography with a Pentax ME Super back in the 70’s. Around 2012 I developed arthritis in my shoulders pretty bad and at the time I carried a backpack with 37 pounds of Canon gear. I wanted to find a smaller solution with less weight. I told my wife that I wish I could find something about the weight and size of my old Pentax ME Super. This search led me to the Fujifilm XT series of camera. I too feel it’s the model day equivalent of my old Pentax Camera. I sold all my Canon gear and never looked back. I can even shoot it with a couple of my old Pentax lenses. I shoot several different Manuel focus lenses on my Fujifilm XT3. I could not have found a better solution. Enjoy your videos very much. Keep up the great work!
Very good and important video ! I have the Canon G16 and i will never sell it. You can do almost all photographic work with it. The layout and handling is professional.
Thanks for sharing your relationship with those beautiful cameras. I still have my old Leica M3 with Zeiss 50mm lens. I've always loved 50mm focal length and M3 had the best viewfinder for it. As I can see from your videos you are using many different focal lengths and you clearly do it masterfully!!! But my question is: if you had to choose one focal length for the rest of your life, which would it be? 🙂All best from Poland
That's a hard question to answer. It would be hard to decide between 28mm (as with the Ricoh GR), or 40mm, as in the X-Pro3 with 27mm. If the body is a Leica M, I'd either go with 35 or 50 Summicrons...
