Welcome! Stick around for more ASOIAF theories, histories, and anything else I feel like making!
The ASOIAF community's favorite grandmother (other than Vhagar)
I make videos about A Song of Ice and Fire, House of the Dragon, and (if you scroll back) Dungeons and Dragons. I really enjoy making content for RU-vid, so be sure to subscribe if you enjoy any or all of the aforementioned topics! you can also check out my other social media as linked in the banner.
Regardless, let this sink in: He WILL DIE BEFORE THIS SERIES WILL BE DONE. There is 2 or 3 more books that still need writing and if its been 12 years since the last drop and he's 60+...well I'm no mathematician but....
I think the HoTD connection is actually the opposite of what you propose. HBO would want all eyes on this show and the world of ASOIAF if somehow they could get the entire world talking about ASOIAF right before the premiere of their show they would. That is crazy free publicity. The fact that we aren’t seeing a tie-in news story tells me they don’t have novel waiting in the wings.
I’m delusional as fuck, and I believe you, I think m we can’t compare this to other years because he revealed the 3/4 finished tidbit and that’s was a year and a half ago. Also we’re basically 13 years in which is almost double the time his next longest period between books. It has to come out soon and he knows it, and he wouldn’t be dropping blue roses if it wasn’t soon. I have believed for 2 years that 2024 would be the year of Winds and I am delusionally hopeful’
He needs to stop with all the side projects and finish ASOIAF. The man can’t live forever and him finishing the series determines if he’ll be remembered or not. My biggest turn of on series is if its completed or not and he’s ruined me on starting book without sight for completion. Crazy that ive been waiting almost 13 years for the next book. Dude is trippin..
It was revealed to me in a dream that the amount of hints we have and the moment i saw the slighly unhinged dragon cake leak i searched my feelings and knew it to be true: HotD Season 2 Ep 10 will end will an announcement of an announcement at worldcon. Him beeing super cryptic on his blog makes sense, no way a billion dollar sales volume book will be announced by GRRM on a book. Also prepare for 99,99 price tag for the standard version and 250 for the premium collectors edition.
i hate pessimism like literally what is the point in being like it's never gonna come out, okay we get it your frustrated but your ruining everyones mood by saying it constantly. But if it does come out you still get the book but if it doesnt you can say i told you so. Id rather you be delusional than pessimistic
Stephen R Donaldson is also a big fantasy author that lives in New Mexico, though at the moment he doesn't really have a "long-awaited" book in the pipeline - but he does apparantly have a new novella ready to go. I doubt the instagram post is referring to him but if you like fantasy at all you should know him simply for the Thomas Covenant Chronicles which are some of the best fantasy ever written.
You know what would be really great? If he wraps up the series with WoW. Like if he just incorporated DoS into WoW so we aren't left with another massive cliffhanger that will never be followed up, because he probably doesn't have another 20 years to finish another novel. I would want a whole other book, but I'd rather have one more book, that completes the story. Maybe that's what he's been working on all these years, and he just wants it to be a surprise. Eh... probably not huh?
It would make sense not to write about it being finished so as not to overshadow the HOT D season 2 release. Hazbin hotel had it the same way. The creator of that series didn't release another episode of her secondary series on RU-vid for another 4-5 months after the Amazon show had its premiere. I really hope he announces it. It's high time we get a finale to that series.
If we're really lucky, we will get it by the end of the year. But I do think that we will definitely get it by 2025. What month? No idea. But at least by the end of 2025 (Oct, Nov, Dec), we will get it.
‘ADWD has been rising in my estimations recently, because for the last 13 odd years I’ve had to keep reading it for lack of answers so I know it better now’ Aha I play, sort of, I’m with you though
I'm flat-out convinced he's never going to finish this book. My conspiracy theory is that he has an outline set but he's just too lazy or doesn't have the time to write it so he's hoping for a Brandon Sanderson treatment once he's gone.
Bless your heart Quinn the QM. Deuxmoi is a gossip instagram is often talked about in main pop culture subreddits like Fauxmoi. Most recently got into some drama with Taylor Swifts publicist I believe. anyway not all that info is reliable and a lot of it is made up by the account owner as far as I am aware.
Didn't GRRM meet with his publisher 4 months before posting that Words of Wisdom post? And didn't he meet with his publisher 4 months before posting that Kong is Dead post in reference to A Dance with Dragons?
You're reading the Winds of Winter in your dreams???? Listen, to me that blog post was just too loaded. Would he really toy with our emotions like that? (Please say no.) I am putting on my clown makeup and hoping. (Also, I watched this video with my cat, Menta, and she says she totally buys a December release date for WoW).
IG post explicitly says "release of his long-awaited book". So, if we believe it, then: • The author is male. • It is a book release, not a television show. • The book has been long-awaited. So, it is not for 𝘏𝘰𝘵𝘋. Given that the author is prominent and from New Mexico (and that GRRM is the only author who is widely associated with the state, I think), it seems like he is at least in good contention. The cake is dragon-shaped. So, the book is probably a fantasy novel and involves dragons. Moreover, cutting into the cake could be symbolic of slaying the dragon - which would be a fitting metaphor for this book. I cannot think of anyone else who matches the description, nor any other book(!) which would. I may just be uncultured, but from my data-set, there is exactly one way to interpret that post if it is true.
I first started reading ASOIAF 20 years ago, and re-read it last time in 2011, just before TDWD came out. Therefore, it is safe to say that I will need another re-reading which will be very time consuming. At this point, with so many amazing books on my reading list and limited amount of time, when and if TWOW comes out, it will have to wait until I have absolutely no better things to do with my spare time. With all those crazy fan theories out there, I don't even think it will be that spectacular, I have to say that book 5 already bored me out of my pants... Sour grapes, I know but, at this point, the entire thing is just absurd... I will never ever forget the awe I felt when back in 2003 I first read the prologue of AGOT, however, until the last book is out, I'm not touching the series again..
