To pronounce her name the way she does herself, here are the clues. Start with Lea from Learn. Add a Y from Year or Yes, finish it off with Evie, with the leading E removed.
I'm also icelandic her name is also icelandic name and we pronounce the au and ey. I get the fact you are from another country and you don't speak icelandic.
6:35 Made an instant subscriber outta me cause it was just so meeeeee. I haven't even finished the video but I know im gonna love it, your vibe is awesome dude!!
I am so glad you like When Memories Snow, I absolutely LOVE that song and I feel like so many people in reactions say they aren't that big a fan (which is valid ofc, but its nice to see someone else who enjoys it!) I like how you break down the songs sound wise, helps me understand why I like them so much lol
As someone who plays (real) jazz, sings and writes, I LOVE Laufey's music, especially "Falling Behind" and her version of "I wish you love." It's some of my favourite of the year, although it's not jazz. I also love jazz. It should just be noted that it's jazzy sounding pop music, which fits the asthetic of tik tok, and astetically she's playing a character to be more authentic. It works. Jazz is kind of an umbrella term to describe like 5 different types of music, and it relies more on reinterpretaion, spontaneous collaboration, innovation of harmony, rythm and melody, and is mostly in live spaces, not spotify or tik tok. Jazz is awesome. Laufey's music is mostly about what she's doing lyrically and vocally, there's no improvisation or live collaboration and is solely her singing. That's what pop is. And she does it EXTREMELY well.
I think a lot of the time lyrics that are popular or relatable to teen girls are written off as cringe or immature, and I don't really think that's a fair critique most of the time. I think you saw it with a lot of criticism of Taylor's earlier work, and you hear it with Rodrigo
yeah i agree with this to certain extent. i think there's a line but olivia does a good job of writing mature lyrics that can rly relate to anyone, it just mainly targets that demographic.
I feel the same as u, I was vibing with the first few songs but once I got to Backseat Girl I knew this was an aoty for me!!! That, Census Designated, Video and Contingency Song fr changed my brain chemistry those are definitely my favourites!!
though frailty is still phenomenal, i definitely prefer census on a personal level. the maturity of the themes and "darker" soundscape compared to frailty's churpiness speaks to me more
personally i reallyyy liked the album!! but i get the points u were making and i enjoyed the reaction, also idk if ure taking recommendations but i think it would be interesting to see u reacting to "ivory" by omar apollo <3
yeah overall i did enjoy it, i just felt like it didn't reach its full potential. it'll probably take me a while to get to it if i'm being honest but i'll put it on the list!
hi love! im an indie artist, would love to see you reacting to my music :3 I will be releasing an album in 2024 and it's a huge upgrade from what I already published! Hope you can consider it. You look great btw :D
so true. This album was a huge disappointment, In A Dream EP is still his best work. What sucks is that this entire era had so much potential, and the singles were so good. I thought he was going for that energetic fun vibe (like in STUD or Rush) but the songs just ended up bland and lack any interesting melodies/beats
@@user-rv7ge1tc4l Yeah, going into the project it definitely had the most potential of all his albums. The singles were so strong and nothing rly stacked up to that.
The Loveliest Time is a very solid album (Kamikaze, Psychedelic Switch are fantastic). I could only get behind a few songs from The Loneliest Time, some good ones though.
Look at the sky and musician really took me to a whole another dimension where its just peaceful. Especially so for musician, its like porter is telling us a story about his journey to become who he is today. Anotherr musician i would recommend would also be Joji, highly recommend Ballads 1 and Nectar too! Love the reaction and have a blessed one ❤
Hey Mat. I got into Carly Rae this year as part of a music forum I subscribe to. I enjoyed 'The Loveliest Time;' as a whole I would give the album 8.5/10. As for 'The Loneliest Time; I would give it 8/10. 'Kamikaze' is one of my favourite Carly songs. I hope you don't mind me saying that you are very cute. You should make more reaction videos as you have very interesting things to say. Rob.
Loved this! 💕 I'd suggest you'd listen to MUNA's first album "About U". In my opinion it was among their best. It's filled with raw emotions & has a more dark vibe. My favorites from that album are "Around U" & "Crying on the Bathroom Floor". I remember when I first listened to "Crying on the Bathroom Floor" I was like "Meh, not my jam" but after months it turned into one of my favorite pop-adjacent songs of all-time ❤️
Porter is a 2010s EDM legend!! (he co-produced Clarity with Zedd) I really really recommend listening to his 2014 debut album Worlds (go into it with the expectation that it will sound slightly outdated as it is from 2014, especially compared to Nurture). This album was huge and influenced a lot of EDM to come. Also the story of Nurture is that after the huge success of Worlds he struggled for years and years to make something he felt lived up to the expectations he felt his fans had for his music and went through a lot of struggle and depression because of it. Nurture is the story of him overcoming that and learning that if he makes music for himself his fans will love it (this makes most of the album especially the last verse of Trying to Feel Alive hit that much harder.
fun fact in something comforting at the end you can hear the switch of the effect versus his normal voice. he did this to emulate him having a conversation with himself and his conscious. reassuring himself that he would be able to finish that song and get through his writing block and depression of being unhappy with his work. it’s cool that he did that & was able to make something like that work.
