I got lucky with mine. Haven't had any issues at the range yet. Have shot mine sucessfuly at a 24" square gong at 400 yards. BUT, as soon as I watched your vid, I went and checked mine for the same stuff. None of the bolt problems, but my mag has a little bit of play. Not nearly the amount in your vid. Good luck with yours. Hope you can get the issues taken care of. Very informative video. Thanks.
They are on sale, right now, for $342 at Farm and Home Supply. They may not be as accurate as a $1500 set up, but a lot of other youtubers, are sure enjoying theirs!
This guy buys discount 22lr, 22/25 pcp's, and springers and picks them apart! He doesn't ever pay over $800 and then continues to rip apart the good name of gun manufacturers. I am not gonna go back and forth with him cuz I would never win...Cuz he finds so many minor things to pick and bitch about. The PcP community gets tired of him, He goes to the 22lr community to start picking and complaining! Over 10,000 views and a little over 200 likes on the stuff he's spitting out & complaining about! Just saying dude...damn! It's not like you bought a $2500 set up with a cape flying out the back of it! $375 with taxes. A lot of people pay more than that for thier optics and wished they paid more! Save up some money and really buy something and if it doesn't perform 75% near perfection....I will rally with you man!!! And the story of you fixing what the manufacturers didn't is getting old...I've or We've been hearing that one over 6 yrs now. Remember...your RU-vid videos are on there always!
Possible FIX solution for all Ruger .22lr rifles, including takedown, receiver movement. I have a Ruger 10/22 carbine idk if it was a takedown or not. but short story made long. I bought mine used and they switched the stock with a Kroger brand AK47(.22) kit and it "had" receiver movement and barrel movement. I found the holy grail of videos which explained how lots of new and modified 10/22 have the issue but its easy to fix. Step/Fix .1 First you could loosen the Takedown bolt on the bottom near the the Mag Well while pushing downs on the receiver try pulling back on the trigger guard or push down on the barrel a little with a wall or floor (check if empty, Duh,) and tighten that Bolt back down. I did it alone and used a hard but soft textured surface and gave it some pressure pushing towards the stock end also keeping the pressure down on the receiver maybe a small tug on the trigger guard then tighten it down good. You might need help depending but i got it eventually alone by pushing done and Fix .2 If #1 didn't help this will by fixing one of the manufacture errors most of these have like mine. All it takes is a small slim spacer (metal ones might be to thick) placed inside where the Takedown bolt hole is also the slim lip inside the Lower receiver at the rear. My rifle is sold besides the mag having a little play. idk about other model stock but the guy who i watched made one for all his. But don't spend money to fast a pacers can be 3D printed or made from thin plastic or even T-Rex/ Duct tape. I personally used one layer of T-rex tape . Also after the re-assembly is complete do as i said in Step/Fix .1 while the Takedown bolt is lose push down on the receiver and push the barrel back with some weight but not to much just make it sung tight THEN tighten the Takedown bolt as much as it can turn and then give it one more quick torque turn to be sure lol. I now it sounds silly but mine is fixed and it has stayed solid for a long time now besides the movement now is the famous magazine wiggle. The adjustment with spacers didn't affect my accuracy at all and the receiver and barrel movement is gone and its been a long time so I hope this helps someone like it did me. If you want to see the video i watched just let me know and ill find it in my RU-vid history and post the link.
I shipped mine back to ruger and they put a new barrel on it. Getting a scope mounted back on and gonna see if its any better. They sent me a target back with 10 shots on it. 1.70 moa at 100yds. Mines a .17cal i would like to see an update from you. Good luck 👍
Not saying you’re wrong by any means, but every single bolt action rifle I’ve ever owned or even touched has some amount of bolt movement or rotation when the trigger is pulled. I don’t think that is playing any part in the accuracy issues, but there are obvious issues somewhere with the rifle
Interesting. I just took my new RPR 22LR to the range for the first time last week. Signed in with 3 shots. Shot 1/2" groups at 50 yards entire time I was out there. Maybe I got a good one.
I have a RPR in 22 Mag and the accuracy is just okay. I have tried a variety of ammo through it and the best so far has been Fiocci Shooting Dynamics. I will look at the bolt but have not noticed a problem. Of course 22 LR is a different story and we are all looking for great groups with it. The 22 Mag was purchased for 200+ yard shooting and I have had it out there with decent results. I am only using 3x9 scope and that is absolutely not good at 200 yards! Especially when your eyes are 75 years old.
I got the same thing, but haven’t had it out yet. I heard from a guy that said his is getting 6 inch groups at 350 yards, on steel. So who knows. I don’t have the best vision either, at 57.
I had the same problem with a Ruger .22 Hornet, sent it back to Ruger, got it back and it was doing the same thing. Ended up selling it and buying a Winchester Model 70 and never touched another Ruger rifle since.
@@STKO2011 luckily I have not had the bolt issue but I did have the 15rd mag problem it don’t fit snug and cause feeding problems. I switch to the 10rd mag and never had a problem since
🇬🇧Well I’m looking for a .22LR for PRS at my club and you’ve put me right off the Ruger. I’ve seen other videos where a spring clip on the bolt which limits rearward travel gets all bent up after a few hundred rounds…..not good at all…..Come on Ruger !!
Ugh. That's no good. I look forward to your update on the new one. I recently purchased a Ruger American Rimfire. Thought long and hard about the Precision but couldn't bring myself to spend the extra $$$.
My Ruger Precision rimfire will shoot 20 rounds under a nickel at 50 yards & I have none of the looseness you have here. I would contact Ruger if I were you.
Ruger's barrels are shit. I had to JB Bore bright mine over and over and finally got it shooting better. The rifling is just sub par full of chatter marks from either worn out or poor tooling.
seems ya shoulda done the diligence investigation BEFORE you bought this model of rifle. You are catching up now. Just another guy in pursuit of accuracy, it is a heartbreaking and frustrating journey, I have been there. With regard to the bolt movement when dry fired it may be due to lack of a cartridge in the chamber which will allow for the bolt to be unsupported. If nothing else, your quest for accuracy will bring you to learn a ton of stuff about firearms and what makes 'em shoot well.
Sir... Now come on, that is a "Ruger" , and all of us Americans we love rugers, but at the same time they do build budget guns that are really good, I've got same gun you got and I'm shooting groups of three, all holes touching from 50 to 100 yards, but no I get what you're talking about I got a regular hunter Mach 3 pistol and it's taking me almost 3 years of shooting it all the time cleaning it rubbing it down to get it smooth enough to take apart for the back together again haha😂😂
