Its like the QED. If you turn off ground balance then it has similar sensitivity to a gpx5000 Turn ground balance back on and its not even close to a gpx5000. In the goldfields you cant run without ground balance. Me thinks ML must have a patent on their ground balance system that doesn't loose depth like these other detectors. For reference with a 14 inch mono coil laying flat on mineralized ground my gpx can detect my gold ring even when held 750 mm above the coil. The QED in the same test less than 300mm
Yes, the QED was much deeper with ground balance disabled, the Algoforce is also much deeper with GB disabled, in our soils here in New Zealand's gold fields I'm very lucky and can run with GB Disabled looking for gold, the downside is we mostly only have tiny gold so it's lucky I can run with the extra power of zeroGB :) You'd be surprised, the Minelab GPX 5000 also has a way to turn ground balance off, and gets far more depth than than with it's ground balance enabled too, coils and relics timing is one way, there is also a GB that you can manually turn off. The Algoforce can work in very tough ground, high magnetite and black sand very well, it handles severe hot rocks, in this way it's much better than the QED, more sensitive too. Minelab detetctors are loaded with patents though and all other brands have to work around these methods,
Next option ……a magnified anti reflecting glass for the unreadable tiny display that is overcrowded with icons… who needs a display when you have to dig it all.? It is a lot of money I guess…..
The display enables it to be more than just a dig it all machine, so turns it into a true multi purpose PI not just for prospecting and the screens really easy to see, even in bright sunlight.
I've done some videos comparing various coils for their sensitivity on shotgun pellets to give a demonstration of that, the 12" CC was never released, the 15" CC being the smallest, and it's significantly more sensitive and deeper on small gold than the standard 14" coil. The Concentric coils need more of an overlap in swing though as the deepest part of the coil is the center of the coil so you have to slow down a bit.
@@user-qe5qp5gf2d The X-coil is no longer available, they stopped making coils for the earlier GPX series which the Algoforce uses the coils from. The coil is a 10" fully spiral wound coil.
Only conductivity of targets, so iron can still come up in many places depending on the size of the iron. It's more suitable if you know the ID of the target you're looking for, for example a particular coin.
No problems, it was just a quick demo I filmed when I first installed the new firmware to give a bit of an idea the depth difference in mild soils once switching to the new ZeroGB mild soil mode.
Gday phrunt? Ive read a lot of your posts/comments on the forums when ive been looking for some info. Now i know that you've had a hard time with your 6000, and in saying that, i was wanting some straight up no BS opinions on if its worth getting one. Id be getting it 2nd hand seeing as they have gone up a grand, but as far as an overall detector? I know its good on small stuff at depths and thats why i want one, but ive read a lot of negatives including; they arent good in hot ground (far too many hotrocks) and also the number of problems people have had with them. Im running a 2300 and a 5000. Im doing well atm with the 2300, and going over ground i can with the 5000 with 11" afterwards. The 2300 has no issues with powerlinea or Hot rocks ive noticed. I do pick up the odd hot rock every now and then but they are the targets i get the least of now i think about it. The sdc will get them at 0.03 0.02 so its definitely good at getting the tiny stuff. And for depth my 5000 with a 11 and 14" will obviously suffice. If i got a 6000 it would then be used as the main detector BUT when the ground is too noisy thats when the 2300 and 5000 will do its job. Am i right in saying this? Or can you get the 6000 to work well in the worst of grounds? And im not a fan of changing settings and losing sensitivity and depth just to use in centain scenarios, id rather have different detectors for that. I hope you understand what i mean. If i get the 6000 id get the 10x5 and just use the 11" it comes with. I dont think any other coil is really worth getting. Maybe the 9"? But i think the 10x5 and 11 will do the job fine. Unless the standard 11" isnt the best around powerlines for example, then I'd think about the 9" or the 14x9. I dont think you rated the 14x9 that great, and said the stock 11" is better. From what ive read and watched it seems like the goldhawks are the go to coils over the NF. I just dont want to buy an expensive coil that i dont necessarily need. Thanks
You're on the right track, the 6000 is more sensitive than the SDC and certainly the 5000, it will find smaller gold, but does suffer from more hot rock problems than the SDC and 5000 that's guaranteed. Quality was dismal on the first year or so's release of the 6000, they've improved now, if you're buying second hand expect to send it in to get the EMI problem resolved if the owner hasn't already, also it's likely the owner is selling it as they're not happy with it, the reasons for that could be associated with all the faults the units have had, reliability was very poor. Newer ones have had from what I've been able to see most if not all of the problems resolved, even the earlier coils were bad people had 2 or 3 replaced, now the newer coils don't so far appear to have that problem. The 11" stock coil is great when you've got a good one, but makes for an unstable detector if you've got a bad one, and I think most who are unhappy with the 6000 are unhappy as they've got the EMI problem and or a bad coil, they're the two common issues. The coiltek 10x5" is great, the 14x9" not as sensitive as the 11", but runs nicely and more stable. I'd give the NF coil a miss, the Coiltek's better I think, especially if you're chasing smaller gold. Now after all the negatives, the 6000 is a great machine once you've got a good one, really sensitive and has good depth on the smaller stuff, but does suffer more with hot rocks. It comes with the DD coil for use around power lines but the 10x5" does pretty good too being smaller.

The Algoforce doesn't have auto tracking in that way, yes its tracking the ground, but you have to manually balance it, the tracking it does only tells you when you need to balance.

Have you watched the Fisher metal detectors engineers' video on the problem? He used the Nox which is less powerful too. The problem really only affects gold prospectors, the rest of the users won't need to worry too much, all they'll get is a bit of extra noise when moving the coil around on the shaft.
Gold prospectors tend to pivot their coil a lot on the shaft to follow the ground and detect in and around rocks, we can't superglue our shaft to the coil to prevent movement, we want it to move, and move a lot.
No, cabon fibre shafts are conductive, just like coke often detected in UK which is carbon. Coal also behaves the same. it's just a conductive material.
The Manticore is a motion detector . If you set it on a coin and don't move the coil it will not ring until you move the coil or the coin , unless you are in pin point mode as it is a no motion mode. . When the shaft moves with the coil the coil does not detect it . My Manticore runs quiet and detects very tiny targets at surprising depths . Carbon fiber is conductive . The core of some spark plug wires are made of carbon.
You're right, but the shaft will sometimes move not in conjunction with the coil like if you bump a rock, or if you're using the shaft pivot to go in and under rocks and bushes, and when you do this particularly in gold modes, it falses badly which can make you miss targets. It should be OK, my CTX 3030 came with a carbon shaft, and it doesn't cause it any grief, the detector is simply not sensitive enough to low conductor targets to care, this is mainly a problem for gold prospectors or jewellery hunters that rely on higher frequencies.

First of all, waving it around is not how the shaft works - connect it to the coil, no problem. Remember metal shafts?........there was no problem there either when CONNECTED.
Never looked for gold have you? You take advantage of this thing called a coil nut and bolt, and the rubber washers, they're there so you can move your coil in relation to your shaft so you can poke it into places and bend it around to get under bushes and so on, doing so causes the shaft to react giving you false signals. @@JoeDirt-sf8fu I'm completely puzzled why you would think a metal shaft, or a conductive shaft like the Manticore has is ok, the slightlest movement from the shaft in relation to the coil sets the detector off with a false signal. At first it was a common misconception it was from it detecting the coil cable, however, the detection of the cable is so minor compared to the shaft, the cable needs to near touch the coil to cause a false, the shaft on the other hand can be held almost a foot above the detector and be detected. Every time you move the shaft on it's pivot in relation to the coil you get a false signal. Too bad if you keep getting them and get so used to it you miss a real target dismissing it as just another false from the shaft.
the coil cable is not a problem at all, very little impact from it, the problem is the carbon fibre shaft is so conductive, it may as well be made of aluminium as that's how bad it is.

@@1995H8 I simply think they were unaware of the problem perhaps blaming it on the coil cable being detected, the after-market manufacturers had been making full carbon shafts for some time, the most likely people affected are prospectors, others may not even notice even if it is detrimental to their detector's performance.
I had a problem like this once where the retaining gromit that holds the coil lead into the coil cuts into the table or is pinching it. May be the same fault by the look of it. Try a different coil on it to get your answer my friend then send the coil back
It happens with the M8, M11, and M15 coils, unfortunately it's not a faulty coil, it's a shaft made out of a material that the detector sees as a target.

It just needs a plastic lower shaft like detectors have been using for a long time with great success, the shift to Carbon fibre although cosmetically pleasing is a step backwards, like when detectors had alloy or steel lower shafts and metal bolts and nuts :)

@@Tesorosaprofunidad it's more of an annoyance with it falsing all of the time, as for affecting detection of targets I'm unsure at this stage if its going to reduce any performance, possibly not, but you may miss targets due to the false signals. Some detectors like my CTX 3030 have a carbon shaft and have no problems at all with it, it's these very sensitive machines it becomes an issue.
Thanks for the videos, apart from the lower shaft short comings, is the manticore the best vlf detector for the Australian Goldfields to find nuggets and handle hot ground or do you think there is a better detector. I looking at buying a manticore shortly.
A pulse induction would be better such as the GPX 4500/5000/6000 or the GPZ, as far as VLF's go, the Manticore is about as good as it gets for prospecitng.
Unbelievable, I mean I do believe it and that is not good! When I get my 6000 set up I will also try that. Couldn’t Minelab engineers come up with a much better 100% non-conductive lower shaft like fibreglass, plastic polymer, or acrylic? A person may have to assemble or make his own non-conductive custom made lower shaft.
yes, the 6000 reacts to it's carbon fibre shaft too, it was the complete wrong material to use for a lower shaft, I suspect Minelab copied the aftermarket shaft manufacturers doing it thinking it was the "cool" thing to do, but its a big mistake. Give me a stock Equinox 800 lower shaft on the Manticore any day, the same goes with the 6000, I'm trying to source new lower shafts for my detectors now. Nokta Legend has the same problem but you can buy a plastic lower shaft for it from Nokta

@@royjohnson465 www.stevesdetectorrods.com/list.php in the USA is making non-conductive shafts for the Manticore at the moment, then once he's done, he's looking into the 6000, hopefully Minelab steps up and makes some, or Detect-ED in OZ or any of the aftermarket rod manufacturers so we can get a quick fix. The more people that ask them the more likely they'll do it. I'm eagerly awaiting Minelab's response as to what path they want to take, they're aware of it, just need to see if they want to provide a solution.

Carbon is conductive but what you’re forgetting here is that the coil and the shaft move in tandem with each other so minimal if any interference. Carbon has a molecular structure similar to graphite so will behave like a metal. Interesting video though. Thanks Simon.
The times when it becomes a real problem are when prospecting for gold, when you're poking your coil into crevices and in and around rocks when you're using the movement of the coil on the shaft to your advantage to get into these places, then every time you move your coil on the shaft you get loud false signals. It would be better off being a plastic shaft like the Equinox 800 in this case.

Yikes!! I have a GPX 6000, did you check the “carbon fibre” lower shaft on that one too.? ~On my GP 3000 I think I had “fibreglass” lower shafts for it. ~Someone should make aftermarket “fibreglass” (or “solid plastic”) lower shafts for the Manticore and GPX 6000.

My 6000 is packed away in the shed so I can’t get to it right now. I was going to check if my fibreglass lower shafts for my 3000 will fit on my 6000, I will let you know if it does? ~A fibreglass ‘or’ plastic/vinyl/nylon/polymer/acrylic/resin lower shaft needs to be made to fit as a replacement for the 6000 and Manticore. OR maybe somebody could use a wooden dowel, lathe, dremel, a broomstick, or hand carve a lower shaft out of wood 🤣😂. Actually I really did that many years ago when I went to Mazatlan, Mexico, I custom made a type of “wood” dowel shaft for my Bounty Hunter Big Bud Pro to put in my luggage on the airplane. I just used it on the sandy beach and found Mexican coins and a hotel key.
If the shaft is static relative to the coil it's not a problem. The GPX6000 will also pick up it's own control box if you could move it in front of the coil. The only problem here is illiteracy on how metal detectors work.
@@georgichaushev5617 that's where you're wrong, the reason coils have a coil bolt and rubber washers is so you can move the coil to different angles to get it into places that having your coil flat won't go, often you're flattening the coil down to the shaft to get into rocky crevices which then the movement of the shaft towards the coil sets the detector off. Gold prospectors in particular will experience this problem.

It's electrically conductive, so detectors like the Algoforce, likely GPX 6000, Equinox 700, 800, 900, Manticore and other VLF's will detect it as if it was a target, not really ideal for detector stability especially putting down and picking up the detector, and moving around coil angles while detecting and who knows the effects on sensitivity with such a big target right near the coil.
What version of windows are you? If you're 10 or 11 you don't need drivers, if you're below them they offer the required USB driver on their website download section you have to install first.
I would like to know whether rusty iron and coin target sounds can be distinguished from normal detection sounds, not pinpoint mode. This is someone who wants to use it at the beach.
