A channel for midlife women with style, health and wellness and lifestyle. I'm a personal stylist so I will be talking about what and how to wear but there will be so much more from lifestyle, diet and health to travelling and life experiences. Subscribe for my weekly videos
I love the outdoor content. The outfit with linen trousers and a sleeveless top was definitely my style, but at the moment I’m using crew neck t shirts to keep the sun off my collar bone. Sun cream isn’t enough.
Tommy Bahama has some nice lightweight 100% linen cardigan/wraps. I got one and liked it so much that I have another color on order. I really love the flattering structure of blazers and found the perfect summer one at Poetry - it’s also 100% linen jersey. It’s the perfect summer layer, unlined, only lightly structured, and as comfy as a cardigan with a flattering collar, pockets and button closure. I hope they offer more standard colors next year, I got the white, my favorite wardrobe color. I love linen jersey, it’s stretchy and doesn’t need ironing like woven linen does. It is a little bit warmer than woven because it has some loft, but it hardly makes any difference.
I just discovered that Wrap London is the sister brand to Poetry. I like both a lot because of their high-quality and natural fibers. I got several items from them for this summer. In my hot climate, I can only wear linen in summer and they have a great selection. These brands are a little more expensive here in the US because of the tariffs/duties, but about in the price range I usually shop in. I can’t wear synthetics, so that pushes me into the Premium High Street and up range, for the most part. Thanks Maria🙂
Thank you very much for sharing your friend’s garden and your casual outfits. I love watching other people’s clothes choices especially those with a certain style which matches my own.. Do you ever look at M&S or Seasalt for clothes? Perhaps you could take a couple of different of brands and show us your chosen items. I am afraid I draw the line at the gym activities.
I have found another channel a colour artist with knowledge of science and quantum physics, she says there is no such thing as an undertone, it is how the light frequencies are absorbed reflected and scattered according to your melanin and root colour which causes one's skin to appear cool or warm against certain drapes, more a subjective perception rather than an undertone being based in science
I’ve been eating chia seeds mixed with yoghurt and drinking shots of beet juice, never thought of combining chia and beet juice, what a simple great idea. Thanks Maria for a great instructive and positive video 😁
You always have the choice not to watch a video it’s not compulsory if it’s not your thing. Ollie was so passionate about the recipes and knowledgeable a lot of what he’s saying is the backbone of the video as well as the cooking. If you listen to it you’ll get lots of ideas and tips from the dialogue. React in a positive way and move on if you don’t like this content. Maria is so excited about her new found sparkle and health she just wants to share with her followers a lot of whom she has worked closely with over a number of years and are more like her friends.
Ahh Connie is adorable Maria, thank you for another great video, loving this new content - you’ve inspired me to get some herbs - I’ve already got pots of lavender either side of my front door and it’s absolutely beautiful xxx
Thank you for the great information your looking good Maria have you tried cottage cheese in scramble eggs also finding different ways to a better lifestyle 😊😊
The jeans link said “sorry, can’t find a match”. It took ages to load, search, then, it froze up and shutdown my iPad, couldn’t get back to my YT queue with your video in it. I think you might have to link items from the US-version brand sites for us here in the US. Going to a non-US site often causes endless problems, and I can’t even get the jeans! Thanks, Maria❤
Hi Maria, looking skinny, there, my friend! Feels so good, doesn’t it? Every 5 lbs. extra is like carrying a sack of potatoes around and I felt it, especially in my lower back. I lost 50 lbs. and feel lithe and bouncy, plus I look so much better in clothes. Best of all, we’ll live longer, happier lives! PS, England is so green and beautiful, my California location looks parched by comparison.
Yes absolutely. Being healthy for me is so important as I go through my sixties I want to make the most of theses years and do all those things that are on my wish list and I need the energy to do them! 😊
Much prefer your expertise with fashion and style. We are BOMBARDED with all of these wellness videos. Much of which is common sense. and dare I say very "fashionable" at the moment. The late Dr Michael Mosley has been saying all of this content for years. Ditto the Zoe program. This feels like an advert .........sorry.
This was life changing for me. I was overweight, unhealthy and pretty miserable non of which I am anymore and I didn’t know what to do or how to change my situation. While there is lots of information out there it’s hard to know what is a fad and what is science backed truth so that’s why yes, I am passionate about “promoting” it for others that might feel like I did. While you can pay to go on the retreat, the webinars are free and open to everyone and as a charitable organisation they are sharing their research for the benefit of everyone and soon as they can they will be offering bursaries too. While it is a commitment financially it’s a year long program with a personal nutritionist not a spa or faddy “diet” and ongoing support and for the benefits of a longer healthier life worth every penny for me.
You are right Maria is an amazing expert with her fashion and style. But isn’t part of style also about how you look and feel from a healthy perspective too? She was very unhappy with the direction her health was going and felt that as a professional stylist she needed to take control of the situation. We are actually BOMBARDED with videos currently about loving your body and not caring about your size or shape. I’m all for that providing it’s not impacting on your health but it was impacting on Maria’s health and state of mind. So she has done something about it and in the process has had the happy consequence of losing a lot of weight. She is now back to her full energy happy self with a zest for life again. Taking on new challenges and life experiences. Sadly we are becoming a nation of unhealthy older people who n ed to take responsibility for our own health which is exactly what Maria has done. She is so excited about her new way of feeling and living she wanted to share it with her loyal followers.
This is so true. Unfortunately I was hiding behind the excuse that I should love my body as it was but it just wasn’t healthy 🙁 and I feel so different now 😘
@vikkiclayton5955. Agree! - Whoever coined the term "wellness"... it now feels like a saturated market. I am extremely interested in my personal health but "wellness" is sending us off down more consumer rabbit holes.
I wanted to answer why I use the term wellness and not just health because for me it’s an important distinction. Health got me covers nutrition and fitness but when I first started on this journey I was really struggling and the first thing I needed to focus on was getting in the right frame of mind to make the changes I needed and for me the term wellness is much more rounded and covers all of it. There may be something better but that worked for me in terms of this not just being about losing weight. More about being fully well.
I went from a US size 14-16 to a 6-8 in the last decade or so. I did this for my health, and not only do I feel much better and have much-improved health metrics, it’s much easier to find clothes I love and I look so much better in them! I love beautiful clothes and my outfits are important to me. Getting into better shape is never easy, but it isn’t impossible, either, and it takes patience and perseverance. I did it with a combination of long daily walks and eliminating all grains and root vegetables from my everyday diet. I’ll still eat mashed potatoes, a dessert or bread when I go to a restaurant, but I only do this a few times a year with my family on special occasions. Occasional treats are fine, it’s what one eats daily at home that’s important. (I gave up all forms of sugar long before this and rarely drink alcohol).
Wow what a great interview with Dr. Hiscutt. I have been following Keto for about 3 years now and had lost 60 lbs, but the Grandkids have moved back in and I’ve lost much of my discipline. I’ve put 10 lbs back on. It’s true that I can tell in my body when I’m not at the top of my health now. It’s a struggle for me every day but it’s chug along. I will check the virtual program out as I’m in the USA. Not convenient to pop over quarterly, darn it! 😂
Don't know how I missed this video Maria, but am just watching it now. Lovely clothes, great colours and everything goes together! You're the queen of the capsule wardrobe!
Great video, Maria. You look fantastic. Thanks for sharing your tips which are very similar to what I’ve been doing for a year. I’ve been following the Second Nature diet (basically low carb, no sugar and I rarely drink alcohol). I was referred by GP because of high cholesterol and have lost 1.5 stone and have gone from a size 18 to a 14. It’s a great feeling to go shopping and buy what you love instead of what fits! BTW, what lipstick were you wearing? Looks lovely ❤
What a lovely trip! I'm very lucky in that we have an inground pool covered by a bird cage and my husband has just installed a very small putting green in the yard, our yard is tiny but it's our own home resort. ❤❤❤
Great video, you look lovely and were very happy swimming in your pool. The house in Provence looked wonderful. Good luck with your new steps to a healthy life. I've started losing weight slowly but surely but I need to do more walking. Bit difficult when the weather's so wet!
Another great video. You looked so happy and relaxed at your lovely holiday home. Loved that blue top on you. You are making great strides in improving your health and it shows so keep up the good work and enjoy the journey. I enjoy your take on style as it resonates with me and I am always interested in hearing about your health journey particularly regarding food.
Thank you so much. I have a couple of videos coming up soon you might like one with the program manager at the health retreat I went on and another a cooking demo with one of the nutritionists who is a trained chef 👍
Hi Maria. It looks absolutely stunning at your holiday house. Good luck with your healthy living ideas. I am doing the same sort of thing. It’s hard sometimes but you feel great when you do it. I am still doing the early morning walks and will go back to the gym soon too. Keep up the good work Maria you are looking great. 🌺🌺
Hi Maria I know u did a travel wardrobe video already but I would love to know what pieces u found most useful on your trip as travel wardrobes are always a struggle to get right. I would appreciate any suggestions. Good luck with your new changes. Margo
You look amazing. I love your videos. I also need te live more health and would love to loose 40 lbs before we go on our South Africa holiday back home in Dec. It is so hard to start.❤❤❤
Thank you. It is hard but take some small steps as they all build up and once you get started and see some results you are more motivated to continue. Good luck 😉
