I'm Chase, and welcome to Alternatively, a Christ CENTERED channel dedicated to bringing you info through research and personal experience on how to live an "alternative life;" that is, a life outside the tight and dangerous boxes that society viciously attempts to submit us to. (e.g. college, 9-5, mortgages, self worship, smartphones, processed foods, etc.) I am no expert, nor do I claim to be. Get out of here with your pharisaical legalistic exegesis endless rulebook. “Bad morals corrupt good company” is absolutely true, but aligning with your particular view does not equate to bad morals. The closest you could get is that it equates to a bad moral foundation. Would you extend this rule to what you would classify as heretical “Christians”? Catholics, Mormons, etc? This is a personal conscious issue which scripture warns not to impose on others. If you really can’t stomach going golfing with someone not with your own personal views then more power to you, but the lack of nuance on this was astonishing. This is a big factor on why we have a loneliness epidemic - so much of the culture inside and outside the church are convinced that they can’t associate with anyone that doesn’t align on their exact beliefs. You might be an introvert which is great for your position, but tell that to any severely isolated person surrounded by nothing but cliques in every congregation with the option to connect with people outside. Again, if a certain friendship hurts your walk with Christ, then your position applies. But how weak do you believe that everyone’s faith is that association with anyone not in the echo chamber bubble in group would drag them away from Christ?
Friend, I don't mind engaging in civil discord, but to hurl, "Get out of here with your pharisaical legalistic exegesis endless rulebook," especially at someone who is a potential brother in Christ, not to mention someone you don't even know, is appallingly inappropriate and ungodly. I'm not going to go back over everything I already said. I literally answered everything you posed in the video itself. If you want, you can watch it again to try to get a better understanding, or move on.
I am not an electrician. There is someone I would 100% listen to about it. Not much after that, he lives a hedonistic lifestyle. He can come over to my house and crash if he's passing through, but I'm not going to his house if he's there. I don't mind house sitting but I know what he does when he's home. He's one of the best electricians in the business, he's even color blind. I have no problem with fixing my stuff and thankfully he's slowly down and thinking about the grandkids. Kinda of hard to believe that guy who calls himself a Christian spends all summer drinking and boating, fornicating with everyone's daughter in his 60s. That reason alone I can't have him around. When he does visit, he just runs off to the bar anyways. I hope he changes his life, especially stop going to church because it ain't the right one and seeks faith and relationship instead of blind religion.

I live in a country where the Light Phone II doesn't work, so I got kinda excited for the Light Phone III, which will work, but I really don't want or need the camera or the fingerprint sensor. Wish they skipped those to keep costs down. Same with the side wheel, which seems like it'll be prone to break when dropped. I also wish they stuck with the e-ink. At the preorder price, I'm kind of on the fence, but at the full price, I think I'm out. Not sure I'll make a decision before the intro pricing ends, which will probably wind up making the decision for me.
100% agree with you. I know a lot of people are looking forward to the III, but I do wish they would have put effort into making an international version of the II first, because there's still quite a large demographic that just wants the basics of the II, but they are kinda forced to buy the highly sophisticated III or nothing at all. :/ Who knows, maybe that'll be their next project. Chase, I appreciate you and your dedication to God and your walk with Him! I have surely learned to keep my inner circle small. I often think of our dear Example, Jesus, and how, of His 12 disciples, there were only three He chose to allow into certain situations and circumstances. Shedding relationships that are detrimental is not easy. It requires a ton of wisdom and discretion, but God is faithful to give us the courage and everything we need to prune and purge what is hindering us from being more holy and like Him. For me, it is a lifelong, ongoing process, and there is a very fine line between staying the course in friendships that He wants me to continue for the sake of the souls He wants me to help, and shaking off the dust and walking away from the relationships that are toxic to me and dragging me down spiritually, physically, and mentally, and that He no longer requires or intends for me to continue. I pray SO often that He will keep me in the center of His will. He is ever faithful! May He bless you always.

You did a phenomenal job of articulating a difficult subject. We are to love others, no doubt, but to envelop our lives with the company of those who choose not to live their lives in obedience to Almighty God proves problematic. Praise be to our Heavenly Father for His Word and His Holy Spirit to help us discern, love others with a Christ like love and stand steadfast and immovable from the narrow path.

Great video ! I've been using a common place book since I was a child. I didn't know what it was called but I watched my grandmother with hers and decided to keep one for myself . It's a must have in my life now more than ever. We are bombarded with constant mostly useless "information". It's important to weed out what's worthy of our attention and what's just useless rot

Love the video man. I have a light phone 2 and have struggled to use it for more than a couple days. I always find an excuse to go back to my iPhone because I think I may miss something. It is strange the grip that these phones have on our lives. I am going to switch my SIM card again and commit to at least 2 weeks. I’m going to work through the uncomfortable moments because I do need to “cut off my right hand” so to speak. I don’t like google and social media tracking everything we do either.

I see Commonplacing as a form of Creating My "Self" as I Integrate what I learn beyond just writing stuff down to refer back to. Our Minds Can Hold an Enormous Amount of Information when we make the connections and assimilate the pieces as parts of the whole that is our "I am..." Mind. I Believe God Guides me to the Concepts, Information, Knowledge & Wisdom That He Deems Necessary For me to Have for the Life He Planned and Prepared for me before the Beginning of time. I Don't Have to Have a Bunch of Random Things in My Mind or my "bible"/epistle of "Things to Know" or "Do"...God Knows My needs Before I Have Need of Them and What Seems Random Can be Used By God in Context at a later Point in Time. I Collect Quotes & Curiosities...But With the Belief That They are Never Completely Random...Instead Each Piece has Purpose/Function/Practical Use/Mission/ For My Life as the "I am..." That "I am..." From the Past For the Possible in the Present. Everything Communicates to Me, From God...From His Vast Storehouse of Eternal Truths.
Will messages have RCS support? Android phones have it and the light phone essentially runs a stripped down version of Android and now even apple allows RCS. Please let me know!
As of now the devs say they are looking into it, but it is not yet confirmed. The phone is still early in development, so it's hard to say what will and won't be supported. If you are interested, Jose Briones did an interview not too long ago with Kai and Joe (the devs), and they go into great detail about the phone and its development so far. My current favourite is Mudita Pure because it is dual SIM, has a application for laptop from where you can control most of the things and send long replies, add music, podcast etc. However, I am not able to use it because it doesn’t have wifi calling and my home doesn’t have any signal whatsoever. So I am using Punkt MP02 at the moment because it allows wifi calling and has Signal messenger through which my close friends and family in another country can keep in touch without worrying about roaming charges. I am very excited about Lightphone III as it literally solves, or has the technology to solve most of my problems. It helps that I like the commitment and ethics of the manufacturers. They need more support from the user base as they are not banking on upgrade model for success. If they install a donation button, I will be happy to send some donation every month to support their cause. This will be genuine altruism for me.
