I thought I recognized you! I actually discovered the LPii through your videos! Your reviews are what sold me. Thanks for the encouragement brother! I certainly plan to, LORD willing. ;)

I saw it, and contrary to popular opinion amongst us "senior Light Phone ii users," I actually like the concept. I'm personally going to stick with the 2, but I appreciate that they are lowering the bar and making it easier for new people to ditch their smartphones without throwing out the original vision. I don't think a camera and an OLED screen adds any distraction, as some would accuse. I do think the final market price is kinda insane, but as long as you preorder it I think it's definitely worth $399. Thanks for the comment, friend. Trust me, I know that the impulses feel uncontrollable. But know that the phone you hold does that to you by design. The manufacturers DESIGNED it that way to exploit you. Your time is their money. However, there is an alternative. And I can guarantee if you do decide to go down this dumb phone road, that it will be hard, but completely worth it. ;) May Yahweh be with you!

@@burntheboxes I agree that $800 is a bit steep for the functionality Light Phone III provides but when you consider that it has an OLED screen, a 50MP camera, a processor capable of driving both, and that it will sell in lower volumes than a comparably specced Android phone, the $400 pre-sale price is probably what it cost to manufacture the phone. Their press release indicates that the final price may come down if they meet certain pre-sale thresholds so I hope a lot of people jump on the $400 pre-order before ends in July.

@@kgeo753 Interesting! I didn't see the specs so that's good to know. Honestly as weird as it is, my favorite part is the accessible battery compartment. I felt that longevity was a major weak point in the current models, as I would have to buy a brand new phone if the battery dies.

I preordered the 3, it sounds amazing to me.

Welcome friend! Wow, you've had it for a lot longer than me! How's it holding up? Is the battery life still decent?

@@burntheboxes thanks! it’s holding up great. Battery life seems like it’s either progressively gotten better recently or optimized better. Either way mine is in great shape. I pre-ordered the new Light Phone III recently as well, not sure if you saw that! Only problem I’ve ran into is the lack of a camera at all times, so that seemingly solves the issue.

@@CropdusterMiller Oh nice! That was the biggest worry I had with mine. That's one thing I really appreciate about the Light Phone III is the ability to change the battery should it die. With care that thing should last you a lifetime. Can't wait to see what the pictures look like on the III as well!

@@burntheboxes I am quite excited too for pictures on it!! They said it should act more like a point and shoot camera than a smartphone one. Considering Light is such a consumer friendly company as well, with one's own care and their care, these Light Phones are truly built to last man.

@@CropdusterMiller That's what I like about the company, is how much they care about their customer base and providing the highest quality products they can. Even the screen protectors are better than Apple's (from personal experience haha).

Well true, and that could definitely work for some people, but for me I would find myself eventually just turning the app restrictions off and going back to normal, since I literally had the password. But, if you have the discipline, by all means go that way. Saves you from buying a new phone. Good to see you man. Hope to see you around!

NIce! Blackberrys are great phones, and yet it's rare to find people who use them. How long have you been using it?

@@burntheboxes i've had this one since 2019. I started using blackberry devices in 2010. I tried the slab all screen phones, just couldn't stick with it.

That's the Light Phone 3, which doesn't come out until January 2025. If you're looking for the Light Phone 2, as shown in this video, it should be to the right of the Light Phone 3 in the "shop" tab.

I'm sure I would if I had one, but I got rid of my smartphone earlier this year, and tbh I have no desire to go back.

It's good you're thinking about that, as you certainly do have to count the costs. It does involve great loss. But, if we are not willing to experience great loss, we will never be capable of experiencing greater gain. It really just comes down to priorities and desires. Are these conveniences worth my bondage to this device? If you are serious about it, I would recommend doing what I did, which is simply putting it on trial for a set amount of time. Believe it or not, I actually kept my smartphone like 4 months after I made the switch, (though I never touched it) just in case this couldn't work. That way it doesn't feel so risky. Also, nowadays, there are even more options to choose from, a few that I think do support WhatsApp. But they are a lot pricier. You'll just have to do a little research and find what works best for your situation. But, if you want to just put it on trial, you can't beat $300 for the Light Phone 2. (Also the Light Phone 3 was just announced a few days ago, and I think they are talking about supporting it. Not 100% on that though.) Thanks for the comment, friend! That's awesome friend! The Light Phone 3 seems like it's going to be a lot more user friendly than the 2, especially with the OLED screen. Jose Briones just had an interview with the developers a few days ago, not sure if you saw that. They went over specs and stuff. I wish you well on your Light journey!
