Welcome ! I am a hobby luthier and musician and I enjoy to create music in old style that fits the instruments I create. I hope you like my music and the sound from scandinavia. Greetings Magnus
@27:12 can you please tell me the name of that too you use to make the tuning pegs? The one that's like a pencil sharpener. That's amazing!!! 😱 I've been sanding down my tuning pegs for almost 3 days. I will give all my money to have that kind of tool.
Hello ! That is great, then it will be much easier to make the pegs👍 I myself use the same tool that is used to make tuning screws for a cello. The cutter for the tuning screw and the broach for the tuning screw hole.
@@magnushogman9964 I did find both a violin and a cello peg shaver; I went with the cello. The violin one would be too small. I also got a reamer that can do the same size hole for the shaver. Today i shaped the body. I have the face almost ready for glueing. I can see the end of the tunnel. I just wish it wasn't almost 40C here, I could get more work done 🔥🔥
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it👍 The only thing that exists is this recording so far. I composed and then I recorded, but it's registered. Don't have sheet music and such, maybe it will come later...
Hi, yes I'm on spotify. Search on my name there, I have a few tagelharpa albums, though with other songs. It's the standard model on the melodies, but I have the bass harp in the background. They are simple recordings but original, tried to make them sound ancient. One of the albums has a heavier sound with drums etc. / kind regards Magnus
I am in love with both this musical instrument and your original compositions. I need more tagelharpa in my life! As someone who's built one before, would you recommend purchasing one pre-built or should I build one myself? I don't have much skill in woodworking, but I can't deny how satisfying it would be to make one from scratch.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like my tunes and the tagelharpa! Try building it yourself👍 The pressure from the horsehair strings is not hard, so instruments do not need to be so advanced. Start by making a drawing the way you want it. Go to a woodshop, where you can get ready-made pieces for the sides and neck that you then glue together. Take thin boards for the back and top, for example thin plywood. Drill some holes for the sound in the top. Then you glue the sides and the back and the top together, and you're almost there. You can check my build video or others if maybe you can get some tips on how to do it. Good luck my friend 👍
Вау, звучит просто восхитительно!😍 Сама хочу в ближайшее время попробовать смастерить тагельхарпу и мне будет на кого равняться, черт побери! P.S вы правда держите смычок наоборот? это прям сильно влияет на звук?
Thanks! I'm glad you like it 👍 I don't really know what you mean by having the bow back. But I have taken the playing technique from the key harp with me by also playing that way on the pine harp. It works for me like that. I wish you the best of luck with your tagelharpa building 👍
I was going to say this sounds horrible.... but then I bathed myself in the blood of my enemies, girded my loins with my urine soaked battle furs, donned my oaken helmet and sheild, and I'm carrying Odin's thunderbolt, dancing around the council fire....... and you know what? I'm kinda diggin this music!
Hej! I dagsläget bygger jag inte då jag saknar rätt virke. Får jag tag i torrt och bra granvirke så blir det säkert mer bas tagelharpor. Då kan det bli att jag kan sälja några framöver 👍
Thanks for this helpful video. I always wanted a bass talharpa but never had $1000 to spend on one but i do have woodworking skills and this is a super easy build.
Your song pertectly conveys the aching and mourning of great people and warriors lost, and the tears of those who pay their respects amd say their final goodbyes. Beautifully done, Magnus.
Olle Plahn i Falun. Han är en erfaren byggare som gjort ett antal. Själv har jag utgått ifrån mensurens längd, 510mm. Sen har jag utifrån det gjort storlek på kropp samt längden på nycklar och lövens placering osv.
Nice tune. What kind of strings do you use to get that tuning? Cello strings? I build nyckelharpas, and I have one of them with cello strings, but the tuning is D, G, C, F. Regards.
