Is it better to have a rest day every 2 days or once a week, or does it matter that much?
@CoalHastings
@CoalHastings 3 дня назад
Depends how you feel. I believe with this routine i have 2 rest days a week which is pretty optimal. What matters if you're trying to build muscle is doing 10-20 sets per week per muscle group. At least one rest day a week is absolutely necessary, imo.

I have a question, I workout three times per week, and each day, I train every muscle in my body for 3 sets. So 9 sets per muscle group per week. I try to vary the workouts. Is this effective overall for building muscle?
@disintegrate1077
@disintegrate1077 5 дней назад
yes, if you push every set close to failure you should be more than fine.
@ColeHastings
@ColeHastings 5 дней назад
Ideally you’d be doing 10-20 sets per week per muscle group, but you’ll still build muscle fine doing that. Maybe add in just one more set per muscle group per workout to see if that produces more results
@none377
@none377 5 дней назад
@@disintegrate1077 Okay, so I do this routine because I really don't feel comfortable not using each muscle in each workout day that I do. I train legs (mostly weighted squats), chest (mostly bench press), back (varies but it's either pull ups, barbell rows, or both), shoulders (varies between barbell/dumbbell press, dumbbell lateral raises, and back to wall handstand holds), biceps (dumbbell/barbell curls, and chin ups), triceps (dumbbell extension). I these for 3 sets each and three times per week.
@disintegrate1077
@disintegrate1077 5 дней назад
@@ColeHastings That sure is the "optimal" way to build muscle but most people can make HUGE gains training less sets, especially if they are a beginner. And you dont leave much gains on the table you probably get the 80% of the results while having more time for yourself / other hobbies :)

@CoalHastings 10 reps/set for hypertrophy. Target two groups with two exercise, three sets. I changed this due to prior workout one exercise four groups plataeu'd for few weeks. Targeting select groups a day I finally feel soreness again; i think people occasionally focusing select groups in favor "winging it" having done myself at home

This is at the core of the majority of my self improvement videos on the main channel. If you watch the playlist you’ll find a ton of tips. But to leave you with a simple answer in this comment: Life has conditioned you to react a certain way to things based on your upbringing. How you feel about yourself and your life is a product of everything you’ve gone through in the past. In order to require negative thoughts, you must start questioning them and making small changes in your routine to prove to yourself that you are no longer the identity of the person who is depressed. That, and doing more things that have purpose behind them, eating well, sleeping well, and having a community are also massively important. Suffering is inevitable, but you can become a person capable of conquering any difficult times.

Hey Cole. I've been watching your videos and they really helped me a lot, and I want to thank you for helping me get through tough times. Now let's talk about this video. I totally understand and empathise with your apathy with politics (just by watching this video, I assume you were burned out by it as well). You make a lot of great points in your video about why you don't talk about politics. But here's the truth about American politics: the real reason why it is so polarised and divided is because of the First-past-the-post two party system. It has become this binary, zero-sum, winner-take-all politics that doesn't see eye-to-eye and instead becomes entrenched in political and ideological warfare over differences in views and beliefs. And no, things are not getting better by fixing themselves because the duopoly system is designed that way. Having the old heads die and replaced with the newer generation is and expecting the polarisation to fix themselves is, frankly, wishful thinking. The only way to fix this is adopting a proportional multiparty system. This is because a PR system is better equipped in dealing with extremism and polarisation. Because in this system, it leaves room for different parties to compromise and work together to get things done, even if they disagree with each other. Not to mention, there will be more views and representations for people who don't identify as either red or blue. Instead of having moderates and crazies pigeonholed in the same two boats, they can split up and become their own parties instead. And when you do this, everyone has their say on matters, which means everyone is represented. Every voice matters, not just the red and blue. Politics becomes more nuanced and diverse, instead of binary red and blue. If you look at countries with a PR system, they all have higher Democracy Index rating than the US and they have stabler government. They all have experience extremism and polarisation, too, but they are much more muted compared to the US. So the duopoly system is the cause of the current disquiet. Lee Drutman talks about this in his book, "Breaking the Two-Party Doom Loop", which I highly recommend you give it a read. He talks about this in greater detail than what I've said here. There's also the proposed Fair Representation Act bill, which includes STV (also called RCV) and multi-member districts, the latter proven to curb gerrymandering.

Our vote doesn’t really count at the end of the day fir 1 And even so, you can only run two terms as a president so if you like a certain president, any step down a new one takes over to undo what the last president did so what would be the point? That’s why I don’t vote

The death if the middle class is true.. there is less middle class than there once was. They're now upper middle class or upper class. There is also less poor. While the past few years may be an exception, overall we are still better off. One of the issues is the expectations and what we were told was just wrong. We expected more and something different, as that's what was promised, thus it feels worse.

@unsilencedderp9411

It's a war between religious fanatisists who support tradition and nationalism, and chill utilitarian empricists who just want people to be happy. The right wants the fem boys, furries, gays, trans and anything that isn't a biological male or girl to die or get shoved in a closet (depending on how radical), despite the most harm these people cause being their mere existence as happy humans influencing other people to be like them. The right also may think they are pdf files (depending on how radical, but this is a widespread belief), they call immigrants job takers, inflation causers, or criminals, mentally ill, diseased, drug addicted, pdf files (depending on how radical), think that systemic racism doesn't exist or shouldn't be bothered with despite indisputable decades of racism against black people and minuscule to no reparations which causes black people to be overwhelmingly poor which makes them more likely to break the law. Abortion could've had been a topic they put up a reasonable defence of arguably good intentions, but they don't really engage with it on a deep level, other than that moderates are alright, more extremist groups want to completely ban abortion and get rid of contraception, but I don't hear about that as often as the other extremist talking points, so I'm not sure if you would believe me on that one. Republicans, the average guys, not the people running for office, seem to me to be manipulated and very misinformed on politics, they vote in people who cut taxes for the rich, and crack down on labor rights, which doesn't benefit them at all. People are surprised that leftists call people on the right "monsters," "demons," or "nazis" but what I am describing is the median right wing beliefs, so they are all either actively mallicous, or unknowingly complicit in legislating away people's rights, and existence based off of arguably immutable traits. You can argue for the very questionable innocence of the average republican's ignorance, but the people on top, and in charge of the news stations are insane, how they twist the most crazy narratives for the left. In this way, right people take the most psychotic positions, make up stories about the left, and then people assume both sides have "taken things too far" and ask for a compromise between the radical traditionalism on the right and the made up conspiracies about the left. There are crazy and normal people on both sides, but the right is absolutely insane, and while you can make what they say sound sense if you tone down their aggressiveness and argue for something more to the left than what they represent, but when you compare that to what the left has to offer, it isn't as good. Sometimes talking about politics feels like vibes, but that comes from never talking to people extensively about your views and figuring out what actually works or not. I hope to do that by writing these comments, but people don't tend to respond. I think I will add this part just to say that, even though my views are pretty radical, they are based off of vibes, so if anyone, even if you know absolutely nothing about politics, wanted to respond to this, I wouldn't mind having a conversation about vibes on different issues just to compare world views and how we see things differently and why that is.
