Hey 👋 Fisho's! Just a guy enjoying the struggles of land based fishing. Subscribe for more!
Do you love land based fishing for whiting, squid, tommy ruff, flathead, mullet, mulloway, kingfish, shark and more? Well you've landed on the right channel!
I focus mainly on land based fishing locations in South Australia... at least until I get a boat. From time to time, we'll also share some cooking and non fishing family holiday vids.
I started fishing as a young lad with my father in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and have always enjoyed it as a past time. It is a passion of mine that helps me to balance a busy and demanding professional career.
I hope you enjoy my videos and if you do please like, subscribe and click that notification bell. I aim to upload a video weekly to inspire my audience maybe on a new location, a new technique or just to sit back and enjoy.
I see you met Al (old mate at the end full of bleeeps 😂) Squid have been scarce lately around Ardrossan. My lads recently got the fishing bug so been spending a lot of time on that jetty in between binge watching fishing videos on RU-vid. Maybe one of these days I'll see you down the jetty
Good one as always Matt. Interesting that the white jig did the job in those conditions. I would have gone the red or black. Too cold for me at the moment. Nice feed you got out there.
We sued to fish there often in the 80s, snapper, mulloway, salmon, BIGGGG Leather jackets, etc. Not so good these days, I don't go there anymore sadly.! Good vid mate, keep it up..!
Go to wallaroo near moonta and port hughes ive been out there a bit and always see a decent kingy and big tommies. You can catch all kinds out there aswell like snook, salmon, witing, garfish, tommies, squid, kingues and some more lime travalley
A secret spot I fished at Outer Harbour when I lived in Adelaide was actually UNDER the "entire" warf for big bream, salmon trout, mullet, small mullys and KG whiting on a out going tide. There is a ledge along the back wall under the warf that you can walk along from end to end. Get mussels from the wooden supports as bait. On hot days its cool quiet and nobody else. But I supposed it banned and fenced off now days unless you have wire cutters.
Wow! How long ago was that... knowing how secure ports are these days I would absolutely say it's been closed. But sounds like a cool spot! Thabks for sharing.
another great video matt, the fish were really on again! we don't scale the fish at all, just fillet and skin them, give it a try next time, no strong flavour, and they freeze OK also, see you next time mate!
in my opinion the fishing on the YP gets better the further down it you go Wool Bay Giles Edithburgh (get whiting off the jetty) fishermans jetty (small jetty in Edithburgh) Troubridge point for rock and surf fishing all the way down to Marion Bay and Stenhouse bay the surf beaches around the bottem end Point Turton is worth a shot for a kingie in summer
Awesome video mate, really enjoy your content. I’m thinking a snook took that teaser, the way you described it reminds me when I float pillies for teasers I’ve caught big snook doing so and they cause huge damage 😂
Another great informative video Matt 👍🏻 Suggested location for you if or when winter finally arrives is to go chace the big winter squid at either Marion Bay or Pt Victoria, you might just see me down there too 😉
Nice Video Matt, I agree with you in regard to getting out to relief the mental stress of work.... nothing better than me hoping in my boat and chilling out - Even if I don't catch too much, it's just great to be out and leave and issues you have behind. Great to see you got a feed mate 👍
Great session Matt. Good fun and a good feed. So many great places on Yorkes. Was this on the long weekend? We usually just dust in flour and fry. Can't beat the flavour of fresh fish.
Yes Kevin this was on Saturday of the long weekend. I was going to go again Monday but didn't want to deal with the holidaying traffic. Yes, I love them with Tandaco fish coating or salt n pepper coating on the BBQ. Nice crispy skin. It's a pity there weren't more squid as Wool Bay has a reputation for squid. But not on this occasion.
Hey Matt Gotta say, great attitude mate. persistence, patience and passion. Youve inspired me to get back out there...even if its didly squat, its still and day out to enjoy. top job and keep it up fella!! 👍
Gday mat!! Awsome vid :) Hope all is going well! Just wondering if your coming down to moonta, wallaroo, port Hughes some time? It would be great to meet you in person and see some more vids based around the local area!
Hi Rian, yes mate, it's a favourite fishing area for me. I would have gone today, but then I thought about all the traffic coming back from Yorkes. So, staying here editing up Saturday's session. 😁
