i had a personal attachment to those black mages and he just lets them turn to crystals without even picking up the crystals to learn a skill i was so confused lol i always reset if anybody dies so it was hard to watch you not even grab the crystals! XD i heard tell of ramza solo calculator speedruns this will be fun

I’m 37 years old now.. this music and gameplay instantly gets me emotional. DKC1 and DKC2 were the only 2 games that ever really impressed my father. I sat in my room and played games from when I was 5, until pretty much when I moved out. My father never came into my room and actually watched me play any of my games during all of those years…. But …. These 2 games? He was fascinated. He couldn’t get over the music, and the graphics. I felt such intense happiness when he would watch me play these games. I’d go through each level with a smile on my face. Out of the thousands of gameplay videos I’ve watched on RU-vid, this particular game is the one that makes me cry. My father’s been gone for almost 12 years now, and I have 2 sons of my own, a 2 year old and a newborn. I’m going to make sure I spend so much time with my kids, and show interest in their hobbies. My father didn’t show very much interest in mine, or spend much time with me. I know I’ve gone a bit deep with this comment, but that’s how good this game was, and still is to me. It reminds me of that intense happiness I had while playing it. It reminds me of my father. This single game holds so much power over me. I absolutely need to get a retro pi set up with emulators, just so I can relive those days. 😢

Super appreciate your video here, taking the time to explain a goodly-portion of this game that many will run but leave unexplained. I do wish you got into more details on the map-unloading glitch, the shoot-vertically-to-the-map-top glitch, and the clipping out of bounds moments. I always wondered why LoZ, Banjo Kazooie, and Mario 64 get so many fan mods and this game was overlooked. I feel theres a lot of room to improve upon it with fan creations, maybe increasing the walk speed and utilizing more puzzles incorporating the 4 ninja's powers.
