I make videos about my 80 series land cruiser, I hope this channel helps you in your journey to getting your land cruiser back to its original glory!
I shoot everything on my iPhone X none of my stuff is sponsored. If like my videos consider subscribing to keep my content pure, I enjoy working on my own cars and I take pride in that. Thank you.
Cool video mate. I have a FZJ105R Landcruiser with 440000km in 🇦🇺 Don't believe they were sold in the states. Similar to the 80series with 1FZFE. Old 4wdrives are going down in value since the cost of living crisis.
have a 100-series. first thing did was spend over 5000 on maintain the core stuff, engine, drive train, suspension, fluids, etc. Now it runs even smoother and quieter, than some new cars.
How do you lift the steering pump up with a v belt on. I am having a hard time leveling it up so I can screw those two bolts back in...Am I supposed to use a pully down below to loosen it up and then tighten it back up? ...or I can do it moving a steering pump only? Thanks a lot!
Just happened to me and the family at 2:30 in the morning right in front of a family rest stop 😅. 3fe going to check on it. There is no fuel but the strange thing is when cranking it sounds like it has no compression. I checked and tbe cam is turning. Im going to check it later wht do you think it is?
Ive got a 62 series with 705.000km and runs like new, 2nd owner for 25 years, just had to fix some oil leaks on it, thats all thats been done to it. Slow but will go forever. Thats just plain wasteful and stupid, recking engines and cars like that. No logical reason for it. That Cruiser is worth a LOT more in the second hand market!
So helpful. I took my truck in and told the counter guy, I have to let the truck warm up a long time otherwise it will either die when I press the gas, or it sputters and doesn't move for 20 seconds or so, then lurches into drive. Even after I'm driving for awhile it sometimes makes a jerking motion when accelerated. It also makes a ticking sound, most notable when started (lifter maybe?). The guy at the counter didn't even look up from his phone and just kinda nodded, I'm guessing bc I'm a woman and can't possibly know a thing about cars, even though I grew up with 4 brothers, dad, grandpa who r all gearheads and an uncle who's a high performance mechanic/drag racer. After 1wk he said we thought we fixed it but on test drive, found something else wrong... 2wks later he told me it was the trans wiring harness. I drove it home, seemed fine. The next day, same exact issues. No idea what cost 1300, but he's going to hear about it when I take it back!
I'm thinking of asking my grandpa to buy me a 91 Land Cruiser. Is it really a bad idea? The one I'm looking at only has 119,000 miles and has been well kept and has no mechanical issues.
Bro I went through the same thing when I got mine. I ended selling it because it turned out to be a money pit. You need at least 10k extra to get everything refreshed. The gas mileage was terrible. You need a shop with lift you want to work in it yourself. I found that that truck wasn’t for me. I ended up getting a 4Runner instead. I’m much happier with it
Series 80's are everywhere in Australia , As I'm been an owner since 1996, Bought New The main worry I've had killed a motor once, is you need a Audable Temp gauge ( After market) Landcruiser hardly ever overheat, But if your in a long trip and a hose breaks by the time you notice whats happening Your motors cooked, You may get a year or two out of it .but Landcruiser's take a long time to Die, so a dashboard temp gauge with an audible Alert in very important, There is a delay in the Dial reading and Actual Engine Temp. So once a hose breaks you have very little time to react. Visit Australia if you get time Its Awesome, ( The big cities Suck in my opinion. ) I live in on the Southern Tablelands,
Been enjoying your vids in regards to 80 series cruisers…I have a ’91’ that I am slowly going through.. a couple of questions…1) was the replacement Alternator OEM….and are there higher amp Alternator that can be substituted? want to add accessories ….such as winch, lights. Etc. Also, I live in Montana, where the smog stuff is not as prevalent. Can the smog pump be tossed and if so…what would need to be address in regards to the ‘computer stuff”….thank you for posting your dealing with things in regards to your ’91’….its been helpful….my greates challenge is my breaks…replaced, wheel cylinders, disc and shoes, master cylinder, blew out the lines…still….breaks are not good….very very soft….seem to be loosing fluids….yet, not able to figure out where. Thanks again.
Nice vid Its so much quicker to change on the 3fe when it has been desmoged. Need to do this on my 1fzfe 75 series as it just died but in the middle off tie rods, steering stabiliser, diff oils, and front knuckle rebuild. The 75 series is no were near as good off-road as my 3fe 80 series but a heap better on fuel, but we don't get a 3fe for fuel economy or speed we get them because they are the best petrol Toyota engine.
My 94 FZJ80 just clocked 570,000 km on a trip pulling our 2.4 ton dual axle caravan, she wanders and shakes as all the bushings are worn and I'm working my way through all that stuff bit by bit, she gets the job done, works her bum off doing it without fail, good old 1fz-fe has a big heart, dual fuel petrol and LPG, as my wife says "she's a beast " that's why they're going up in value....actually priceless to me, cheers from Australia.
My 1991 FJ80 Only 110k miles on it only runnig Sking trip and snow plow 2-3 times a year 3years ago snow plow less then 1hr suddenly engine stall.since then parked 3years.. last week Im trying to start fail 15A fuse keep on burning open gas tank cheked fuel pump and fuel sending unit completely rust out inside gas tank rust all over too.need clean or new tank also.new pump unit ..big headache..thank you for your service good luck to your Land cruiser 🇺🇲🇰🇷🚗👍 South jersey USA.
Ive owned my fzj80 center locked for about 6 years now and I can confirm this list is solid. The most important thing on this list is baselining, specifically replacing every hose. I've replaced so many parts on my cruiser. If you pick one up, you'll need to be ready to do a lot of deferred maintenance and preemptive maintenance.
great vid. I'm not in America, but my exp w LC in both Africa and Indonesia for off road cueing, is better w narrow tires always, I never try to bogg into mud for fun. But after 30 years exp, getting through thick wetsand, rainmud, and dunesand, narrow is a must. I think personally fat tires are more for climbing and looks. Lots of love for the great info and the LC peeps
Your videos are very helpful to the Land Cruiser community more so to the 91-92 owners, I have some issues with mine regarding to brakes, have you done something to your truck so it breaks better than normal ?
