Hi friends, welcome to FlyingFids! I’m Won, parront to Pineapple and Pumpkin, two little green cheeked conures who basically run my life! I became a first-time parrot owner back in the summer of 2016 and boy OH BOY did I have NO idea what I was getting myself into!
Owning parrots is a long term commitment that's filled with ups and downs and I created this channel to share tips on parrot care in hopes that we can come together to share our experiences and to inspire you to provide the best care for your flying fids!
Follow us on Instagram @flyingfids if you’d like more behind the scenes and I'd love to chat with you there as well! I hope you'll join us every Friday with a new video!

I am a new bird dad (I used to have birds when I was a high schooler, but never like this) and got a green cheek conure. He's still a baby, still hand-fed with formula, and I'm trying to get the right size cage. He's in a little cage while I get him his forever home. What size do you recommend?
If your bird bites you hard that means the bird doesn't like you and have no bond with you. Even with a nest . But if they nibble on you then that means they love you.
Yes, I am definitely teaching my bird how to fly, and potty train is definitely the most important ones! Can't wait for him to get there! So excited for him hehe
I’m gonna get one soon so I’m studying them becuase I’m getting a budgie becuase I’m a starter bird owner and as I said I am studying them to give my future bird the best life they could 😊
I had a parrotlet as a teen. She was a lot of work and tore up anything made of paper when you weren’t looking. Although I loved her and was happy to put in that hard work, it’s definitely important to remember this bird family is made up of as much unbridled mischief and willfulness as they are cute and funny.
So the toy one yes it is good to switch out your bird toys BUT if you wanna save a little money you can buy the toys that you're going to put in the cage immedently and get diffrent ones for the future❤😊
I tought of buying a small bird becouse i dont have much spare time. She said they need a lot of attention but do they need it necessarily from a human? I mean if the bird can fly free in a room with a bird partner, would they be happy?
I grew up in Toronto, which is very similar to New York in many ways, and we have tons of gulls and pigeons. I like to feed gulls (we have Ring-billed Gulls) and you can really see the intelligence in their eyes. If you give ONE gull some food, a TON of gulls will magically appear for some! They have excellent vision and they are always watching what's going on around them. I LOVE birds! I have held some birds, but I have never owned one as a pet because I'm one of those people sensitive to loud noises....and I live in a tiny apartment. Maybe some day, it would be cool to have a Conure or a Quaker. They're adorable birds!
I cant take out my birds they dont even want toget out i leave the front door open and they doesnt get out but they sometimes get out from the top door, and im in a small apartment soi cant get a big cage plus i dont know where to get it from, and ill show my parents this vid
Thanks for this video! At what point should I take my budgies out of their cage? They seem like they don’t want to leave the cage but I want them to get more exercise. I’ve had them for about a week.
I did everything she said. This only increased the biting and increased the psi of the bite. Bird was spawned in the depths of hell. No matter how sweet and calming I am to him, he'll seem tame, nice, and tamed, then out of nowhere, bites the living shit out of my finger for no reason and seemed joyful when he sees he was successful drawing blood. Demon bird. Using holy water evaporates before it touches this bird and I hear demonic Latin chanting afterwards. Demon bird.
I need help. I just got my sun conure yesterday and today when I tried to take her out of the cage she bit me several times. No one has worked with her so I need to do a better job of it
I’m a new bird owner, i cover my birds cage at night so that they can sleep better and stop being annoying. Is it okay to do that ?! If not give me some advices pls
My European Goldfinches fly free the whole day and get a huge amount of exercise (about 14 hours or more in the summertime). They have larch-tree branches and cones. I provide them with plenty of vegetables, even from the countryside: dandelions, raps pods, evening primeroses, and, of course, thistles. They spend hours opening them. However, I am used to buy seed blendings and I obviously observe that they pick up the fattiest seeds first. The blendings are made by Goldfinch experts in Germany and Italy. I do not have the chance to make a blending by myself as most of the seeds only grow in Southern climates.
