Fun fact: In the Reform War (the civil war where liberals and conservatives faced each other) Mexico did not have an official national anthem so this song was used as a kind of anthem for the liberal side to the extent that when the liberals They defeated the conservatives in the battle of Calpulalpan and entered the capital. The liberals used that song to celebrate the victory.
