Hi! I’ve got exactly the same A1P as yours, love mine! Not as pristine as yours but still in good shape nonetheless. I have one question. I bought the same Pyramid hugger as you have, I am wondering if you bolted the hugger directly to the swingarm, or have you used plastic/rubber washers/grommets in between the two? I presume a bit of loctite to fix the bolts is advisable in either case. Cheers!

Hi is it carbed or fuel injected? Google says that all 2003 ZX6R's are FI ??
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 11 дней назад
@Dobzie795 Hi. Thanks for watching and the question. Actually this is a very good question where people get manufactured date and registration date mixed up. Plus the UK market and US. So I'm UK and can really only comment on this as the US ZX6R line is different. So first off this is a carb model A1P registered in February 2003. Bikes manufactured and registration dates can be very different. You can have a 2008 registered J1 that was made in 2001. It will have an 08 English plate on it but it will still be a J1 carburettor bike. So 98-02 manufactured bikes go like this. G1-G2 98 to 00. J1-J2 00 to 02. A1P 02 to 03. You have to remember that in the motor world the year starts and finishes on the 1st of March when the new registration use to come out. Now they come out twice a year but build date is normally 1st of March to the 28th February. Kawasaki released their new looking ZX6R B1H which is the first zx6r fuel injected bike on the 1st of March 2003 and that's the bike google says is fuel injected. The A1P in UK and Europe wasn't released in America I don't believe. Basically, Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda were kicking Kawasaki arse in all the magazines as the zx6r hadn't really been massively changed since 98. Yes it had more power, revised suspension, longer swingarm, change of bodywork, but basically the same guts as the 98 model and the other manufactures had the R6, gsxr600 and cbr600f and cbr600rr which on paper was a mich better bike if that's what you were looking for. Although the zx6r had become a trusted all rounder Kawasaki knew they had to do something. They had the B1H in the pipeline but couldn't get it ready for 2002 so they done a revision on the J2. 44 improvements, mainly the 636cc engine, internals, larger carb and internals, internal work on the suspension and a change of colour. Thus the A1P was born for a year. I've ridden most bikes from that era. My mate has a cbr600, I had an R1 in 2003 and teat road loads of bike but had never ridden the zx6r. Honestly I think these are the most amazing bikes for real world. Plenty quick enough, a little heavier than alot but I prefer that so I'm not blown all over the road. With some adjustments to suit personal taste/style of riding they are fantastic. Hope that helps and again thanks for watching. If you haven't watched my 4 year review of my Yellow J2 it's worth the time. Cheers Tim.

Used to have a red and black 2000 model. Bloody awesome machine. Was faster A to B than a Fireblade on the road. Had Bridgestone BT56 tyres and with the legendary Kawasaki front end feel you could push these things so hard and you just knew exactly how much you had left even in the rain. That’s why in group rides with mates on Blades, R1s etc you could always run rings around good riders on faster bikes.

Installing a Brembo master cylinder on that old bike is a waste of money. The original brakes are not bad ☝🏿🧐
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 22 дня назад
@dacat8171 Hi. Thanks for your comment. I personally cannot disagree with you more. In all honesty if I hadn't of fallen in love with these bikes as I had a J series before, I can say I wouldn't of bothered but because I knew I was keeping it I wanted to modernise the bike and improve it. If you compare the new bikes to these older bikes the brakes, suspension and performance have improved over the years. In my opinion the brakes and rear shock are that bad for my use but rightly it's a matter of opinion and personal use. I say to anyone who buys a 98-02 zx6r to ride their bike and see what they think and would want to improve. Most say they want to improve their brakes, suspension and gearing. If you rode a standard 98-02 bike next to the same bike fitted with a Brembo RCS19, braided lines and sbs pads your see the difference is actually night and day. Now whether it's a waste of money is really down to if you require more brake and if your happy with your standard set up and if your happy then yes there is no point, however not everyone believes the same, including myself. Thanks again for watching and the comment. Thanks Tim.

@dacat8171 22 дня назад
@@kawasakizx6r813 You may also consider that 600s are to be ridden smooth, therefore there is no hard braking like on the superbikes. Naaah, your explanation does not convince me at all. Furthermore the Brembo RCS19 is not made for maintenance. If it leaks, it is gone, although there are companies who deal with overhaul kits.
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 21 день назад
@dacat8171 Hi. My explanation isnt meant to convince you. Its simply says that if your happy with your brakes thats great however me personally was not. I know alot of people who ride the 98-02 zx6r's that feel the same, that includes track and road use. Personally I wouldn't consider that a 600cc are to be ridden smoother to a 1000cc. Personally I ride my 600cc harder than I did my 1000cc and I'd say alot of people thrash the tit's off their 600cc where a 1000cc to do the same can be ridden smoother, at the end of the day your still going the same speed and need to stop. I know if I need to perform an emergency stop I can stop quicker now than with my standard brakes. It's all down to your own riding style and use. If your happy with your brakes then you don't need to improve them. Thanks again for the comments Tim.

Hey whats your honest opinion on the 1998-1999 zx6r model made by kawasaki?
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 21 день назад
@AndyBop Hi. Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure if you have watched my review of my 00-02 J series in yellow, if not please watch it. When you see that your understand more my love for these bikes. They are extremely easy to work on and a real world sports bike. Now I do believe that there are improvement that can be made as technology has moved on but you don't need to do them all at once. Also you personally may not need to do them at all as it's all down to what you personally want to improve. The only differences from a G model compared to the J series is: New fairing styling with twin headlights, new swing arm to make in slightly longer, slightly modded engine, revised suspension. So there really isn't that much difference. I had an R1 back in 2003-2005 new and I can honestly say I much prefer these bikes. No they aren't as quick but real world bikes they are absolutely brilliant and quick enough. I can't speak highly enough about them and this is why I hunted around for the newest, lowest mileage G,J or A1P. I ended up with this A1P with 1900 miles on it and paid over the odds as wasn't bothered as treating it like a brand new bike. Again that's why I'm not bothered with all the money I've spent on it as the bike is simply perfect for me. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and the question. Tim. I'm on Facebook on the: 98-02 Kawasaki zx6r only, Group.

Hi. When you undo the suspension there is nothing to support the rear end so it will drop to the floor. This is the reason you cannot use a paddock stand to do this. 2 and half inches shorter is alot. I'm not sure how much this will affect your geometry and ride height. I honestly don't know other models of bikes to upgrade or switch suspension. I don't know if the swap you are doing on your bike is a common upgrade and would advise checking forums. Hi. So the exhaust is a full Arrow hi level titanium race system with a large carbon oval end can. I purchased from ebay from a guy who gets new old stock Arrow exhausts. Cost £725 including import duty. It's an absolute brilliant system and honestly with I'd removed it when I sold the bike as they are extremely hard to get hold of. The brilliant thing about them is they are quite upto about 7000rpm so crusing on the motorway and stuff isn't deafening. Also for track at 7000rpm it's 98db stationary so clears all the trackdays. Also being a full system it has no baffle and able to produce as much power as possible with no restrictions. I believe the guy does currently have a 3 bolt slip on. If your interested I can try send a link. I've had two full systems off him, totally genuine guy. Thanks for watching Tim.

@kawasakizx6r813 3 месяца назад
Hi. This is an extremely hard question to answer, as your see many bikes advertised for strong money, however look again in 6 months time and the bikes are still for sale. It is a question of how much you wanna sell the bike and how quickly. I am referring to the UK market as in the US they sell for alot more. So if I had a mint 9K green A1P and wanted to sell it I personally wouldn't want to let it go for less than £3000. Unfortunately not all see the value in these bikes. You could advertise it for £3295 and go from there. I think alot will offer £2500. To put it into perspective, I paid £4195 (2020) for this completely standard A1P with 1900 miles on the clock from a collector. I thought long and hard over two weeks to think if that is to much money. The thing is I've not seen another one since with that low mileage and mint condition. I can honestly say I don't regret it at all. I personally looked at it as a brand new bike that I knew fitted me. I had the full Maxton suspension to swap over from the J2 and made quite alot of personal upgrades which modernise's the bike in all the right area, Suspension, handling, braking and performance. The best A1P currently on sale in the UK, imo, is a complete standard, as new, mint, grey, with 4000 miles on the clock from a dealer and priced at £4995 on Autotrader. Personally if I had the money I'd rip their arm off for it as I love these bikes and they are getting harder to find. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. Tim.

I have read some conflicting stuff on what happens to unburnt fuel when the secondary air system is removed, there is a theory going about that if you still have a cat in the exhaust it can run too hot. I'm running stock exhaust and carbs but removed mine as the rubber joints had got sloppy and the vacuum valve kept sticking, I've got an early J with no cat to worry about thankfully and also kept the crankcase breather attached to the airbox. It really does tidy up the area in front of the carbs too.

Hi. Thanks for the comment and watching. Yes already been done but I get asked alot on the forums how to remove. It gets confusing as I believe the only bikes with smog is from california and the rest have a pairs valve or secondary vacuum valve. Seems we all call it differently, all over the world. I've also heard people call it part of a clean air mod. Looking to get back to filming. Thanks for the support. Tim.

I have enjoyed the video and you being honest about the six pot quality in the beginning. I don't know how you manage to put air in the front tyre with bigger discs, I had fitted the metal side valves and it is less hustle. Cheers 👍

Yes can be tricky getting air in lol. It's tight but can get my hands in there. The brake lever feel is different on the 4 pot Nissin. The 6 pot tokico with the RCS19 feels sharp from the first squeeze, where as the 4 pots with the RCS19 seems to have more feel. Brembo do recommend a RCS17 with 4 ppt 30mm pistons. Can only say it feels slightly more braking on track but to be honest I personally don't feel its a massive leap in performance especially for the cost.

@@kawasakizx6r813 yeah twenty+ years brakes surely will not be the same with today's technology, but shows how good they are. I recently discovered one of my fork seals metal clip is getting rusty and I think she will have to go in 😱 because I don't have the necessary equipment and patience to do it myself. With the fork covers it is difficult to clean and see any rust there , new seals and oil I think she's overdue 🙄 Nice to see you uploading again Cheers 👍

Hi. So sorry are you after a gear indicator or LED's for the light cluster. Don't know if you have seen my video on the LED's for the cluster but here is a link for that: plus if you want a gear indicator I'd get a healtech one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qRTdG5Lm-wQ.htmlsi=R9HuosSsNwepMdDJ

Yeah was happy with the numbers. Bike rides excellent. I did sell the J2 last Feb 23. Just got the A1P now. Same things done and that was 112bhp on the same dyno. Personally not chasing numbers just good safe power and smooth power. Yeap I absolutely love these things.

The ABBA stand was the best thing i bought for my bike, its just so simple and a God send when need to jack bike up, i think i paid £140 around seven years ago, The lower bearings were seized on my pivot arm, [Z1000 most parts fit a number of bikes] and Kawasaki wanted far too much for new bearings, so bought aftermarket ones from Simply Bearings in UK, about 50% cheaper and cost me a tenner to have fitted at local bike shop

Hi. Was it on ebay? Standard one with about 8k miles.. So off the top of my head the chassis plate with all the info is at the front of the frame. I'm sure it's on the right side, so turn your handle bars left and you should see it.

The ZX is on the top side of the clutch case/engine, that's the engine number. The chassis number is at the front of the bike on the frame. If you look where your key goes in and follow that down on the right hand side of the frame. The frame/chassis number is stamped in the right hand side of the steering head. Believe it will start with a JK

Great video thanks mate! I'm thinking about doing the same to mine but I have a question about set up. How did you set up the new suspension to start with? Was it fairly good using standard settings from the 2013-2021 bike?
