I accidently got RU-vid recommendation I found a lot of interesting information on your channel. Thank you for sharing it. I also have a question regarding shock. I own ZX-6R, 2003, model code: B1. I compared rear suspension part numbers of ZX-6R 2001 and 2003 and looks like all are the same (dog bones, swingarm, triangle which connects everything and etc.). Like you I also upgraded rear shock taken from ZX-6R, 2021. I do trackdays with mine NINJA but unfortunately I felt the only difference - softer spring on 2021 shock. Also by measuring with calipers I can see that on 2021 the spring is lower in diameter. It is good because original spring is very hard (unless rider weight is like 150kg). My weight is about 86kg without gear. But with 2021 shock rebound problem still remain. Our track is very bumpy and more left corners so left side of the tyre is all chewed and the shock after riding is of course quite warm. By tyre reading it is rebound problem and it just feels that this 2021 shock then is cold it does some rebound damping but then it is hot you can close all damping nut all in and you don't see any difference then bouncing the rear of the bike. Mine shock was used but not much so I doubt that it has any damage. I am thinking about changing the oil in it to more viscous. What about your ZX-6R ? Do you feel any clear difference then you closing rebound damping nut and bouncing rear of the bike? I also noticed that your spring preload is also more or less the same like mine 🤔🤔

Undo two bolts for the shock. Push the cylinder/spacer out. Remove the two grease seals. Fit new cylinder/spacer, fit new grease seals on both sides then bolt in new shock. Yes it is that easy. Any problems drop me a message.

Great video thanks mate! I'm thinking about doing the same to mine but I have a question about set up. How did you set up the new suspension to start with? Was it fairly good using standard settings from the 2013-2021 bike?

Hi mate . Thanks for the comment and question. OK so I set my suspension spring compression to static sag front and back, then adjust the dampening to suit. Front static sag: Track 25mm Road 30mm Rear static sag: Track 8-10mm Road 12-15mm You have to remember that the suspension is generic. They are bot weighted to you and this is why static sag and not rider sag should be used. I need to do a video on this to explain in detail why but that how I was show by Richard at Maxton to set my suspension. Hope that helps Tim.

Hi. In all honesty probably not. It's past my remit lol. However I am game and will look into it to try and save some pennies. The forks on this do need doing but may send to maxton.

I know its 6 months ago but Did you sell the shock off the a1p? It looks alot nicer than mine.....

Hi mate. I assume it's the same Gareth from forum lol. No I didn't. Long story short. I sold it to a guy in Ireland. Paid £37 postage and it didn't pass boarder control and was sent back. I refunded the guy his money including delivery and got my money back from the post office through their claims. I took it as a sign to keep it lol. I did however sell the older J2 shock to someone in the UK. I'm gonna keep the A1P one just incase I ever need to remove a shock on the A1P or J2 for refurbishment or anything. Don't worry about it at the moment, wait a little while and ask yourself how long you intend to keep your A1P. It maybe worth switching to one of these if they come up the right price. If you do I'll do a video of what you need to swap for ya. It's so easy and a very good upgraded for £150-£200. It's waiting for one to come up. Pm me if you want me to look for one.

Just a friendly word of advice, Don’t fit quick shifter’s to bikes of this age you will end up destroying the gearbox for sure.

Thanks. Have you had experience with a problem. Must say fitted the Healtech and not had any problems at all. I don't use it under 5000rpm. Shift is always positive. Spent ages going through the cut times but mainly only use it at 7000rpm plus. As I say I've not had issues but if you have experienced them I'd like to hear. Don't wanna damage my baby. Lol
