Massive thanks to Ryan Mace again for making this a simple bolt on job. Parts needed are: 92049-1225 Grease seals (require two). 420361258 Sleeve 10.1x 18 x 30. Enjoy the video and feel free to comment.
The ABBA stand was the best thing i bought for my bike, its just so simple and a God send when need to jack bike up, i think i paid £140 around seven years ago, The lower bearings were seized on my pivot arm, [Z1000 most parts fit a number of bikes] and Kawasaki wanted far too much for new bearings, so bought aftermarket ones from Simply Bearings in UK, about 50% cheaper and cost me a tenner to have fitted at local bike shop
I just started taking apart my ZX636. Got the radiator and exhaust off so far. My valve cover and oil pan are leaking. I’m going to clean/polish everything and check my valve clearance. It has 24k miles so hopefully after I put this effort in, it lasts a long time to come. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Thank you for your efforts and starting this channel, got my 2001 ZX6R today, needs a lot of work but I’m already in love with it, definitely a instant fan of yours! Will be following all your work, it’s really super helpful
Thanks for the kind words. The yellow J2 has been sold in February to Dan who has become a mate and been out for rides. I've had to take a break because of health issues but just finished filming a guide to fitting a brembo rcs 19 master. Thanks again Tim.
Just got a 2000 g series that needs a lot of work. Hopefully I can try this. Good luck with the health issues and thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Much appreciated.
Hi. Thanks for the kind words. Yeah unfortunately 2023 was a bit shit for health. This year is gonna be tough but hopefully will do some more videos. I'm on Facebook on the 98-02 Kawasaki zx6r only group. Any questions send them over. Lovely knowledgeable group. Enjoy the bike. Tim.
@@kawasakizx6r813 yeah I watched your video about your background and your spinal condition (my wife is a physio for the NHS). I know its probably not this simple but wish you a speedy recovery and hope you're back on your bike at the end of the year.
@chetanpatel1464 I have a good life. Take the ruff with the smooth. Currently trying to come off tramadol which is a man made opioid, which I've taken 400mg for 11 years and its the side affects from withdrawal. Been hell in all honesty but I'm hoping by the end of 2024 it's all out my system. I'm lucky with the support from my family and under King's college chronic pain clinic. Just wanna get back working on the bike and getting out for a ride. Best bikes I've ever owned. Just absolutely love them. Ride safe buddy.
Hi. Thanks for the comment and question. This is from the Haynes manual: Suspension linkage arm to frame & Suspension linkage rod to linkage arm 59nm. Suspension linkage rod to swingarm G,J,A models 34nm. Rear shock absorber mounting, top & bottom, G,J,A models 34nm. Hope that helps. Thanks again Tim.
great video not too many videos on rear shocks at all thanks for yours you mentioned if the tire is not supported from under it will simply drop i am planing to change my rear shock with a new one which is 2.5 inches shorter in length than the original one so as far as you know all is going to fall in place? or its more complicated(i have a bmw 310gs) thanks
Hi. When you undo the suspension there is nothing to support the rear end so it will drop to the floor. This is the reason you cannot use a paddock stand to do this. 2 and half inches shorter is alot. I'm not sure how much this will affect your geometry and ride height. I honestly don't know other models of bikes to upgrade or switch suspension. I don't know if the swap you are doing on your bike is a common upgrade and would advise checking forums. Thanks for watching. Hope that helps Tim.
Hi mate. Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately not. I've not got the tools to do it. The cost to me just isn't worth it. Mine get sent to maxton. Really sorry. Tim.
Unfortunately mine is completely taken apart right now. The second and sixth gear got damaged and I'm short of money, hopefully I'll be ordering the shifter fork's and gear's before winter is over. My bike has been apart for more than two months now. But I did ride it most of the summer and it's everything I remember from having owned one before from 2013-2016. Picked this one up in June of 2021. It wasn't quite as good as the one has before, but this one has quite a few mod's and really low mileage.
Hi mate. Hopefully you can get the gearbox sorted and get back on the road. Would love to help but know nothing about the box. Someone commented on a forum I'm on saying the gearboxes are like chocolate. Everyone responded by saying they have never had a problem, myself included. Again hope goes well. Tim.
Thanks for the useful video! Could you post a link to the facebook group? As i do own the same model, and im about to fit the 2014 shock absorber, with it's corresponding linkage
Hi. Thanks for watching and the question. Honestly I'm unsure, however I sure I spoke to someone a year ago on the forum who purchased a 2013 shock and linkage and used that. I'll see if I can check part numbers and get back to you. Thanks again Tim.
Hi. Yes the part numbers for the lower link arm, which is where the shock bolts to is the exact same part number. I was also told yes by quite a few people on the 98-02 forum that they have upgraded their own G1-G2 by the parts I lost in the description. Hope that helps. Tim.
