Mechanic, that loves nothing more than fixing up old British Motor Cars Filming events involving Classic Cars, Classic Motorbikes, and WW1 + WW2 Warbirds and Vehicles
Could you do a video on fitting/removing the hardtop on the Spitfire Mk3 please. Hardly any info online and I think I'm missing some fittings for mine so would really like to see how it goes on. Loving your content.
It might be an old video but it's still worth its weight in gold! I'm faced with a similar issue in NZ and just steeling myself to get started. Steve, your blood is worth bottling thanks! Geoff
@@SteveDentonClassics no problem Steve, I'd be happy to wait for a convenient time & travel to you at some point. I get the impression you're not far, I'll send a message on insta 👍😎
Great Vid thanks Steve, Do you know the difference in the current draw between the standard oem pump and this Bosch style pump? I have run an original Bosch pump for some time but due to dirty fuel I am now fitting a new 'Bosch Style' Thanks - Richard
Most modern ones are Sytec or a Bosch style type as Bosch no longer make a high pressure pump. The Sytec is a good pump, and is well developed by TRGB 👍
For most British Leyland cars the rule of thumb is 10 thou or 0.25mm feeler gauge gap for the tappets, if the car has a hot cam thus may vary, but as a rule of thumb 10 thou or 0.25mm is good 👍
Alright Steve, back in 2010 I made a documentary about a bunch of Toddington lads on an adventure to repatriate a couple of Stanier 8F’s from Turkey back to the UK. Imagine you’d enjoy it! Hope you’re good mate - I’ll bring my Frogeye up to you sometime this summer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Juy2-kwqL-Q.htmlsi=5s3-CoRs4IG1SOEv
I once took a mini engine apart in the living room when the wife was away. I got oil on the carpet so moved a rug over only to discover she had laid the rug over a paint oil stain she had made
looking forward to more vids , one small bit of advice when filming in sun make sure the subject ( engine ) is on a bench in the sun so we see it more clearly , thanks
What l really want to know Steve ......ls who cleans your overalls ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ......you mucky pup !! 😄 lt really didn't make sense as to why it was seized . I rebuilt a couple of mini engines back in the. day ( early '70's ) they both lasted less than a 100 miles !!! Thanks Steve
Hi Steve. There's something so evocative about steam . The South Devon Railway & Dartmouth Steam Railway. Two beautiful railways . The little diesel took me back to when we hopped on at Kingskerswell and went to Paignton , the exhausts sounded like tuba's ! My favourite was watching the Castles steaming out of Newton Abbot ....halcyon days indeed ! Thanks Steve .
Clutch pedal to the floor. Black gunk in bottom of master. Replacing master and slave to be safe. Steve, are there chances copper tube may be gunked up. Can it be cleaned ? Should I replace in your revered opinion? Thanks Henry
You can fit as much as you like when it comes to an MGB, there are plenty of company’s out there that do modern mods for them. It just comes down to how much you want to spend
@@SteveDentonClassics AHH that's good, I've had old carbs before and they changed depending on the weather from my experience, would love a classic on modern ECU running smooth and reliable
Looks pretty --- Good --- for doing it all yourself ---- Will watch to see if you put out anymore videos on the MGB-GT ----- Thank you for another good video ----- Have a Good week ----- Rodney
Good to see David --- really enjoyed watching him in his Garage ---- then at Goodwood ----- and then ---- was like he disappeared ---- but looking at the year you made this ---- it was the time I was watching him ----- So --- hope he is doing well ---- missed the Garage Work ----- you must have put on a different valence than David's ----- you put your License on your hood --- where David had his down below ------- Making the changes does make it have an all-new appearance ----- Will watch #3 to see what else you'll be doing ----- Thank You for the video ---- If you should see David again ----- Tell him Hello ----- Thanks Again and have a Good Week ----- Rodney
David's one is made out of alloy, and is very much custom to the car. He only lives less then a mile away from me, so I do see him every now and then. I think his just busy with work, and having things done to his house has meant a stop to the videos for now, but I'm sure he'll start making them again soon!
Good Morning Steve. I need a favor. I have a friend that has a 76 Spit 1500, single rail 4 speed, no O/D. He is looking for a rebuild kit for his shift linkage. Checked the usual suspects but is not available. Any sources that you have that might have it? Thanks in advance, Jerry in Jupiter, Fl, USA.
I might have to do this myself. Sometimes the pedal goes near the floor, but a pump will bring it back to normal. Not using any fluid. Also I’m new to the car and am not sure what brake or clutch fluid the previous owner used. Is there a “ universal “ type fluid I can use ? Thank you , nice video!
The hardtop completely transforms the character of the car. One question: How did you attach the rear corner pieces? I'm asking about those chromed cast metal pieces at the very rear, which continue the shiny trim around the buttresses. I had the worst time trying to keep those things from falling off.
I've been restoring Classics for 50 years, panel appears to fit ok but I would have painted the panel body coloured and bonded fixings to the back and fixed from the back, I'm 10:14 just starting a rubber bumpered car
Love the suggestion, I took my front valance fitting off a friends car, David Russell Wilks, you may of seen his RU-vid channel. His front panel is made of aluminium and is bolted on the same as mine. I kind of like the corse look, and the yellow front I think just complements the green car. It's a more do it my own way bit of styling, and I'm really happy with the results 👍
For a standard TR6 it is 10 thou. However my TR6's cam isn't standard so it's tappets are set different from that. The rule of thumb is, if you don't know your cam, set to 10 thou 👍
Mr. Denton, I can't believe that it has been two year since I last communicated with you. Couple days back, my car started fine, idled well, and ran well for a few miles, all of a sudden sputtered and died. I do have a fuel pressure gauge installed on my dash and it indicates to about 85/90/95/100 psi each time I cycle the ignition key on and off, I do also hear the fuel pump running. I am planning to change the regulator, pump and filter. I am currently using; -Original fuel regulator -Bosch fuel pump, PT No. 0 580 254 921 -Bosch fuel filter, PT No. 0 450 905 401 I believe both of these items are discontinued. May I please ask you for an equivalent items, or the part number of the parts you had installed in you friend's TR6. I also would appreciate any comments, or suggestion that you may have to remedy my situation. Much thanks, Sincerely, Sam
@@terryatpi That would be correct end float for your camshaft 👍 The crankshaft is a little tighter at 0.006 - 0.008 in (0.1524 - 0.2032 mm) figures quoted from TR6 Repair Operators Manual 12.21.26 👍
Ya, they were based out of Phoenix Arizona. They were bought out in 2018 before going bankrupt in 2023. They were the last company i know of making period correct performance exhausts.
In the video "Inside the Octagon" there are clips of video from the early 30"s of cars flying around the track. It was so rough these smaller cars we bouncing all over the place.
