Can you suggest a good chris craft experience engine shop in PA or OH ? I have a 1965 283 CCorsair that was not winterized properly and now has maifold damage.
Awesome. But how do you keep that exposed valve gear from collecting salt spray, debris, dirt, and other crud? Looks so vulnerable; but fascinating to watch in action!
I found my issue, going from 283 to 305, I had to adjust the angle the hose fitting was coming out of the pump itself, not sure why it wasn’t the right angle but I pointed it like yours is and that fixed it. Thanks for the great videos!
I thought the crank snout had to be drilled to meet the first main bearing oil passage in order to lube the transmission? At least, that's what I recall from reading my '62 CC SkiBoat engine book...
Hello Don, it is exactly your engine that is on the video that I would like to draw in scale 1/6em for my model of Riva Aquarama. Is it possible that you send me different pictures of your engine. top view from left to right, AV and AR view with some dimensional dimensions with all this I must be able to draw it, for the rest I will make a homothety report. I know it can be binding for you. Thank you in advance for everything. If you want me to send you my email address for sending photos, it's as you want
Hi Don. Thanks for another excellent video. Is your oil filter relocation system original equipment? Or did you buy a new kit? If it’s new, which kit is it. Thanks. Guy
Hello Guy. About the last 3,300 engines were equipped with the remote oil filter unit as shown on these engines. about 8% of the total production. Hope that helps. You can find them out there if you want to add
Don. Can you please give me more information about the alternator? What’s the make and model of the alternator? Where did you get the alternator mounting brackets? Thanks. Guy
Hi Guy. Hope all is well. The alternator I have are original units which are Autolite ALE-5202-A. 40 amp units that do require a voltage regulator which is part number VBV-6201-A. Not sure what you mean re brackets? If you’re talking the top adjustable bracket that is a CC part you would need to find from a supplier like Robert Henkel. Same for the bottom plate. Now you would need to have the correct front housing that has the boss cast into it for that bottom plate. Hope this helps
Hi Don. Thanks for the information. I understand better now. I see the boss you mentioned. My housing doesn’t have that. I had a 1959 283 FWF engine that I parted-out. It’s generator wasn’t water cooled. The generator on my 1961 engine is water cooled. And your engines have alternators. I appreciated your description of that progression.
Hello, I am a model maker and I make the model of the special Riva Aquarama, at 1/6th scale I have already drawn all my hardware because there are no plans to my knowledge. Now I will try to draw the V8 engines. Also I wanted to know if you had plans, these engines so that I can make them in 3D printing or any other information that could help me move forward in this project. Thank you in advance for your answer. Best regards
Paul, The Riva Aquarama "Special" (1972-1996) only used the Riva Crusader 454 big block engines. There is a guy on Facebook that I follow that has made these in 3D already. They are incredibly details. Look up Patrizio Dessi. These engines (CC 283's) were used in Aquarama from 1963-1966. Hope this helps
Let me emphasize one thing that was never mentioned. I have a 350 CC Engine in my boat. The original engine that was in the boat had steel freezeout plugs. Do yourself a favor, which is not expensive, and it will save you a headache later on. Please replace the freezeout plugs with brass ones if the boat is to be used in saltwater. It is not expensive, and it’s a great improvement.
Some boat had dual (two) temp gauges and some only have a single temp gauge. So, for single that fitting is blocked with a plug and for dual temp there would be a temp sender on both sides. Hope that helps
