At which point of the A and B test do you recommend to do a range check.... before any checks on the airplane or when you have just connected your battery before surface control check

Chris, Andrew, I have just seen your presentation as searched for advice on start up. I can’t thank you enough. Also can’t believe how little comments have been made against the incredible sacrifice of your time. Many thanks for the direct support and guidance. I know how much has changed over the last 12 months, during which, I completed my A2CofC and GVC. Recently I completed my Business Plan and, just this week, my Opps manual so I can obtain the CAA approval. (Don’t need to send the manual now!,) Again. Many thanks to both of you. kind regards.

@10:11 Peter asks Duncan about candidates having to memorise the entire BFMA Handbook when revising for Supplementary Questions. Duncan mentions that candidates should focus on Sections 8-24, but the current 2023 version of the BFMA Handbook finishes at Section 21. Please can you kindly confirm which sections of the 2023 BFMA Handbook candidates should focus on? Is it Sections 8-16?

My apologies for not commenting sooner, but well done Martin. I was one of the examiners who took Martin for his 'B' Achievement Certificate when he was an early teenager and he's gone from strength to strength. His only weakness is that he's a self confessed chocaholic. Whenever he visits, I need notice to stock up. His unique enthusiasm for any jobs is infectious. Keep it up.

Helicopters......................... no more than 70 yards away. Go figure. The whole thing is just a blanket approach to a poorly policed, woefully inexperienced policing effort. How many prosecutions for drone users? I'll tell you even if Callum won't - 0! That's right...................... 0. Go away CAA........................ just go away.

The BMFA is missing out on half the population, ladies. It’s all old men! Does Buckminster have members? Is it a club ?
@cymaz100
@cymaz100 4 месяца назад
With the number of bmfa members falling, how does the CAA come up with a prediction of 900,000 uas? Is Callum including commercial use? The illegal use of uas won’t have any flyer ID, insurance, remote ID,CAA registration. How are you going to catch those....you can’t, so to say “well we know the legal ones that are flying, therefore we can see the illegal ones....no you can’t

There are 10,000’s of registered flyers and the CAA says there MAY-have been one or two prosecutions. How safe does Rc Flying need to be !!! The CAA have never emailed me or anyone I know about Rc safety The Chairman proves my point about my objection about Buckminster..a lot of money has been spent for very few members. Now the Chairman is arguing that more work needs to be with clubs to introduce people to Rc Flying. The investment spent at HQ should have gone to grass roots to encourage new people to join. But we are where we are.

Keep on it BMFA. They clearly have taken no notice of the consultation and survey that we did, and probably have no intention of doing so. Allan thinks its happening in 2024 anyway. The idea that they think they can use my phone at my expense to comply with a system I disagree with is a bit of a bloody cheek. Trying to stay positive, but I feel this is already a lost cause.

IMHO: A LARGE PIECE OF WINDOW GLASS, OR "LANINATED" MDF SHEETING, ON TOP OF A STURDY WOOD WORKBENCH, ETC., WOULD MAKE A GOOD WORK TABLE!... ....WHILE TRYING TO CALL OUT THE POSITION MARKERS,.. COORDINATE EACH HELPER, BY SETTING UP A "METRONOME, AT A SUITABLY SLOW RATE!... ....How about spanning along the trailing edge, with an epoxy saturated piece of pre-set, heavy braided fishing line...( tie up a suitable length of epoxy soaked, braided line, with a lead weight hanging at the bottom... let that cure/set, overnight... you'll have a nice thin trailing edge-corner strip/rail/ (akin to "spring steel music wire", but almost no weight!)..., which can help define the line, during further covering processes....

At 150 mph on a 65 ft line you are dancing around the pylon in 1.85 seconds per circuit! No wonder age is going to catch up with us all.. Thanks from an old control liner.

Hi, New to drones and not flown mine yet! This might be a really silly question haha The rules state you cannot "take off" from private land, but can you take off from say you car roof or even hand within private land? 😊
@GHOOGLEMALE
@GHOOGLEMALE 5 месяцев назад
Not on their land you can't no - You can overfly their land though. So if you stand outside their perimeter, you can control it from there and fly all over it without any problem (obviously with all the other provisos, must be within sight, not over crowds etc)

Thanks for posting this guys, my late father Jim Boxley flew combat in the 60s and 70s and I've just framed the plans for his nationals wing, which he flew against Vernon Hunt and his Warlord. I have such happy memories of training flights on Highgate common with the whine of Oliver tigers and the smell of castor oil fuel filling the air. His team mate Pete Reeves could really fly, dad could design and build, and between them they encouraged a young lad, Mick Chilton to have a go.

What is the point of repeating every manoeuvre in the B test that you successfully completed in the A test as well as doing all the checks again it’s obvious you know or you would have not passed the A test is it just to make the test seem worth while surely all that is needed is to take off and announce each type of loop, roll or spin manoeuvre before doing it everything else is irrelevant and unnecessary.
@BritishModelFlyingAssociation
The A test manouvres are not repeated, all the checks are but you would do those at the start of any flying session anyway, and it is good to guard against complacency.
@heli-man-
@heli-man- Год назад
Doing a test also has its down side I have been flying for years and never done a test and recently decided to join a club and although I paid a joining fee and a club membership I am not allowed to fly at the club on my own until I have been able to complete a test when available examiners are able to attend so essentially paying out £100 pounds for a club I can’t use now I wish I didn’t bother and stuck to the park flying. I initially thought it would be a good idea just for a designated flying field but now feel the park suites me better with other friendly faces although sometimes it’s busy at weekends but I don’t need someone to hold my hand and assume they are a better pilot because I have not done the test it very contra sending.
@BritishModelFlyingAssociation
Clubs have a duty of care to other members and the wider public and asking for a demonstration of ability and safety awareness is essential if they are to uphold this duty. If you have been flying for years you should very easily pass the test so its just a matter of getting it arranged with an examiner which shouldn't be too difficult.

Excellent examples thank you. One question about beach flying. The Crown Estates have given drone flyers permission to take off between “high and low water” marks. Does this mean that other “ownership” is excluded from this zone?

HI RON - AS A SERIOUS BUILDER - AND I HAVE COMMENTED ON THIS SUBJECT BEFORE - I AM PLAYING AROUND WITH OTHER 2D 3D WING DESIGN SOFTWARE - IT'S GIVING ME SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT - SO SLOWLY WORKING MY WAY AROUND - WOULD BE GOOD IF WE DID A COMARISION CHART OF ALL THE DESIGN PROGRAMS OUT THERE - A SIMPLE CHART - I DON'T MIND DOING THIS - BUT WILL NEED HELP FROM EVERYBODY FOR INPUT - I AM CURRENTLY PLAYING WITH WINGFOIL - THEN WING HELPER - LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK - WHAT WE NEED TO PUT ON IT - CERTAINELY EASE OF USE - COST - WHAT IT CAN DO - WHAT IT CAN'T - WHAT FILE FORMAT IT USES - CAN EXPORT IN - PRINT IN - HOPE THIS HELPS - I MIGHT TRY TO SAVE UP FOR A LASER TABLE ONE DAY - NOT REALLY INTO 3D PRINTING YET - AS THINGS START BEGINNING TO GET EXPENSIVE AND I NEED TO WIN THE LOTTERY !!! - HE HE HE - CATCH YOU LATER - TAKE CARE - HAPPY FLYING - DAVID

I am so glad to have found this fabulous channel ! I live in Las Vegas and seems a Lotta people have become lunatics , 😫 they have electric helicopters , electric cars, electric airplanes, drones, which is extremely boring ☹️ and seems control line combat is becoming totally forgotten, I've seen those russian f2d planes that look loike fruit bats! 😠 I HATE THEM! Also hate those engines they come with ! they wanta monopolize this hobby 😤 your podcast is so important to revive this fantastic Hobbie. 👏 There must be only 3 combat flyers in a 200 sq. Mile area, it's becoming so shameful, I saw that English IRVINE engine and thought 2 miself 😳 that's almost an American cox Conquest .15 🤔 and since we are on the subject? I'd like to ask Peter Harvey about 2 airplanes: the modern Anduril '69 with (fewer ribs) and another very modern design the Danish Challenge, which is hard to find, even balsa wood is becoming scarce, but combat flying is for the whole family, makes you creative and makes you sharper, in the last 20 years, taipan propellers were # 1 here, now everything is imported, or chinese made, very sad endeed. hope to get a response , and I thank you again, Im barely surviving from this anemic combat location I live in, that urgently needs to be revived ! And speaking of metallurgycs ? There was a small .051 fora nitro engine that after a complete run , it wouldn't burn your finger, If you touched the cylinder head ! 🤔rather interesting. So please stay in touch with me 😔 I'm eager to get a hold of vintage plans to show Americans how much fun they can be . Thank you 😊
