Sharing my love for the Greater Wilmington, NC Area.
As a Realtor® and native to the area, I love sharing what Wilmington NC (home of the North Carolina Azalea Festival) has to offer. From the Beach communities to the Historic Downtown and everything in between. I created my channel to educate you about what life is like here from a local's perspective. I grew up in the small town of Burgaw, North Carolina (home of the North Carolina Blueberry Festival) just about 25 miles northwest of Wilmington. Wilmington was the BIG city when I was a kid and I have seen many changes to the area of the years. Welcome to my channel and I hope you enjoy yourself, have some laughs and hopefully learn a few things.

Carolina Beach has always had a bad reputation due all the bars. Growing up on Wrightsville in the early 70’s, there was not that problem. Mainly surfers smoking a little weed. Also the price to stay/live in Wrightsville was quite expensive where by Carolina Beach was a flea bag market. However, that was not the case for Kure Beach.
Sir whatever kind of problems your channel has I will fix all kinds of problems and take your channel till monetization Interested in monetizing your channel?
Hey Denise - LOL It does have a kitchen. Unfortunately, when I shot this there was an open house going on and everyone was back there believe it or not. It's a small galley kitchen across the back of the home.
Hey Bill. I came across your channel while doing some research on Wilmington. Then I realized that you were actually referred to me by someone I worked with here in DC who is now a realtor in Charlotte, Ian Leonard. My wife and I are considering a move & visiting soon to check the vibe. We should catch up
Hey Thlanise. Yes we do. Great neighborhoods with ranches. If you shoot me your criteria and I can do a search for you. 910-409-7818 or portcitylivingnc@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
I came to the coast with some fishing buddies in 1970, got lost and have been here ever since. The one perk you omitted that directly benefits Senior Homeowners is that our property taxes are reduced to 50% of the published rate the first full year after your 65th birthday (you must notify the Tax Dept. as it is not automatic). That means that while the $300,000 home owned by a "Gen Z" couple would be paying about $2,565.00, the Senior Citizen couple would only be paying about $1,284.00 a year in property taxes. I also remember that when I moved down here in 1970, Wilmington was so quiet, they rolled the streets up at night during the Fall & Winter months. As far as the traffic goes, I travelled back and forth to New York City 2 to 3 times a month on business. Wilmington traffic is nothing compared to "The City". The traffic problem in Wilmington is that people simply don't know how to drive.
Hey Elizabeth - it wouldn't hurt to ask the city or county if permits are needed for such improvments, but I would doubt it. Especially for adding screen to a porch or using an electric fireplace. Anytime you are adding sq footage, changing electrical or making any significant improvements to a home, you should consider permits. Permits are good for documenting the money spent and most definitley for safety!! Good Luck!!
As a walker and a former Wilmington resident (way back in the 80's), this looks like a great walking route. I did a couple sections of the walk back in December when I was there for a day. I can almost smell the marsh looking at this. Thanks. -H
Hey - if you get bak this way, be sure and check out the loop - it's an awesome place to be and enjoy the scenery!! Also the Halyburton Park in Wilmington is a good trail as well.
Moving too Wilmington June 27th I love our coast I have lived in Newport NC I moved to VA in march and I’m already moving back to our coast I also love the beach in the fall because my son was still swimming in October I can’t wait
Back in 1967 or 68 a group of us put bubble bath soap in the fountain at Third and Market;those were the good days in Wimington the way natives say it.
The traffic gives me so much anxiety I really hate it. So much so that I plan on leaving after I develop my career a little longer. It's a nice area but driving around is so stressful to the point where I don't want to go out.
Hey Gubert - I am sorry that you get anxiety when you drive in Wilmington. I have found that if I just go at my own pace and let everyone just go around, I handle it much better. Some days I get out there and there is hardly any traffic....very odd. Im sorry to hear that you may leave the area after you develop your career, but I totally understand. Until then, drive safely!!
Sounds like any Florida city to me I just may move here and water roaches I thought only where there's a lot of water but they're here too in southern Nevada I thought I had escaped them in Florida and Georgia but nope they thrive everywhere
Hey William.. thanks for all the great videos. My wife and I will be looking to buy this year and will be out there shortly. I sent you an email with my contact details. Look forward to working with you!
As a Statistical Analyst since 1985 and Relocation Specialist in the Charlotte area, though Covid may play a very small part in the population shift in America at the moment, the overwhelming reason is the social and political problems that the west coast and northeast is and has been experiencing. Population data, relocation data, election registration data, and net migration data prove this. Climate is not the driving force of the shift, as CA and HI have great climates yet are losing residents at record rates. Cost of living is not the top concern, because IL and NM are affordable and they’re losing population. What they all have in common, and the numbers make it undeniable, is nearly all red states are flourishing and nearly all blue states are suffering. Too, the red states have become more red and blue states more blue per the 2020-2022 census data, voter registration data, and midterm election results. I am really sorry that this is a political post. But it is important to know that using Covid as the reason doesn’t give the actual story. I know that it’s a reason some give, but the hard data simply doesn’t back it up. I also have no had one single client even mention Covid, other than saying they hated the overreaching mandates in their previous states. Yes, one can have more flexible relocation options when working remotely, which the Covid scare created. But it’s not THE reason people area leaving. Nevertheless, the video was very good. It’s be cool to see a video about Wilmington as a metro area (New Hanover, Brunswick, and Pender Counties), as most of my clients do not want to live IN the central city but do want to live near it with a suburban or rural feel. I really love the Wilmington area. I have tons of friends and family in the area. I visit my uncle in Carolina Beach about once a month. I highly recommend the metro area, as it ranking in the top 25% of American metro areas in my 2020 rankings that I do every 5 years.
