All the sports cards in the world ain’t worth 1 million. It’s the delusion that people have using money they didn’t earn to buy “expensive” cards. Get ready everyone the bottom is a long ways down.
i find this video ridicoulous …. heard a small part on buying many lots of cards that are like $50… no on has time to spend on 1000s of cards that are worth a few dollars. i only went 17 mins into this video before i found it ridiculous...
14:53 “I just tell the truth. Sometimes I get things wrong, because when I’m following the truth, you have to try to unpack it and do the research to go ‘what does this really mean?” ..😕 What the heck does that sentence really mean?
Hi Doc, To me this was a Masterpiece. A cross between Money Ball and Sports card investing 101. I am wondering how will you improve after this? Also i was thinking the psyche of most humans would become intoxicated with the financial success and continue down that path and forget that they were a collector and what they started out to do. IDK? I found a 71 Tony OLiva in a $ box in Nrmnt. condition and still got a smile on my face. Much Respect. Thank You. Jim.
1. 2017 Patrick Mahomes rr optic red and yellow 2 same card orange parallel 3. 2017 Patrick Mahomes prizm auto. 4. 2020 Patrick Mahomes over the Herizon. 5. A nice Patrick Mahomes RPA
Amazing video, believe it or not I’ve used this same strategy in a much smaller scale too build my Collection.✊🏼 and it works perfectly just be patient 💥
Thanks! Stopped @47 min. because of time constrants. Will continue.....Q - I am assuming thus far, that all "sales" exclude all selling fees and taxes, or are the $ amounts "net" numbers...so a $5 net lot is approx. $6.90 gross (assume 16% fees and 22% all in taxes). Appreciate the comprehensive analysis!!!!! Have a great one!!!!!
Thank you for this comprehensive breakdown! I understand this takes a lot of time/energy/studying … & I’m very appreciative of all your efforts! Looking fwd to what’s next!
Wait what year were you selling Griffey rookies for $200?? lol the fleer 86 Jordan was less then $200 bucks back then I’m calling BS again! not sure what world you were living in..
I learned earlier than most, but still a lot of low end $5-$10 NBA from the past four years to sell - maybe like 50-100. Need to consolidate. If you’re interested Doc in helping I’d appreciate working with you
*Gregg Jeffries* was the genesis of my _TRUE_ ,....endeavors into the card-collecting, world. For me, however; the 1989 Topps FUTURE STAR card, was the launching pad! Long story made short, I remember it as if it were yesterday. In my neck 'o the woods, (NY metro area) the CCP or....Current Card Prices, was the figurative...."pricing bible". The Jeffries card was priced on the high column @ $3.00 a pop, and they were *_FLYIN_* outta' shop owner & dealers cases at the time! That was... "big money", in '89,....for _ANY_ kid, to be to be plunkin' down on the counter for a card....straight outta' the pack!
Biggest mistake was buying Trey Lance around draft day. Lost about $1k…pleased make your videos more concise and briefer. >1hr for 5-10mins of content…too much fluff and repeats
Love ya -but totally not true!! Jefferies were $1 each minimum coming out of the packs. Same with Mark Grace!! 35 years have gone by so maybe you can't remember correctly - those 2 were high demand coming out of the packs
No way were Jefferies 5-10 cents back at that time. They were anywhere from $2-4 as soon as the products were released from Score, Fleer and Donruss. There was major hype surrounding him(especially because he played for a New York team)
I call bs in all his purchase prices. No one was selling star players like he mentioned for a penny or those two rookies for a nickel or a dime. How much was Griffey? .25😂
@@Milehighviking UD Griffey started at $7-8 when first released. If he's claiming 5-10 cents for Jefferies, then 25 cents seems about right when it comes to Griffey.😂
I am a real estate investor that got my start in cards did shows from 13-17 yrs old. Would love to come on the channel and talk about the biggest fails. Love ur channel
If you want to know why I call you names, it's because you talk down to people and I don't believe A WORD YOU SAY. Nothing is confusing. You just think you're smarter than everybody and YOU'RE NOT! Where did your "ESPN, here I come" sign go?? You are a classic fart sniffer. Confused? Look it up, Mr. Academia.
Gregg Jeffries was a known Baseball America top prospect in 1987 and his cards were not a nickel by bulk anywhere and were about $2-3 per card because the 1987 hobby surge happened, where you couldn’t have gotten even mediocre rookies for $0.05 per card. Even guys like Mickey Brantley, Mike Aldrete, Pete Incaviglia, Ruben Sierra, Matt Nokes, Kevin Seitzer, Mike Greenwell, and others who were spec buyers, were $0.35+ This video feels counterintuitive to the reality of FMV (Fair Market Value) real scenarios. Today’s environment for rookie prospects are priced based on potential of the future, so there’s no bargains below $1 and you’re getting the base cards of less popular brands where the parallels of today divide the collectors and investors relegating rookie cards as commons. The vocal enunciation of this presentation is jagged, if you’re looking for feedback and needs a more friendly flow rather than one that might come off too pseudo authoritative and somewhat lecturing or condescending to viewers.
Just getting back to see a few videos this evening. This one is one. Thoughts and Opinion: First: a Master-Level Sports Card Collector has Decades of applied experience. Just imagine how much more You yourself will know about The Hobby, when you reach your mid-late 70's. The Benefits of Having a Master-Level Collector is Priceless. 'If He Were Still Alive, I'm sure he'd be sitting here, ' Telling Me Just How Dumb and Arrogant Some Collectors Are and Can Be. '- Fact. Second: Not really sure if you know what I look like. The pic is to honor a lady, who passed away in 2007, and had faith in Me and the things that I do. Third: ' Respectfully, I'd be more than happy to compare myself to a person who looks like you. However, I've been a Lawyer for 30 Years, and last year, when this arrogant Pencil-Neck Neurologist thought it fit to challenge Me about what I'm professionally trained in while doing a week in the Hospital. Hmmm.. Does Anybody in here even 'Remotely Resemble a Pencil-Necked Neurologist...? Hmmm.. Anyway... There, my Friend ' - I took him to task, and embarassed The Ever Loving Shit Out Of Him,- Right in front of hs Entire Department Team Staff. I used to argue cases before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and The Supreme Court every now and then.. Moreover: I'm not exactly handsome, but I wouldn't consider myself to be some old man, saying: 'Hey You Kids.. Get Off My Lawn Either. ' 'That Was Funny. We (older collectors) Say The Same Thing All the Time Now..' Finally: From Experience: You,Sir: - {are making a myriad of mistakes in The Hobby}. Primarily: Your Strategies of 'Buying Multiples can work, yes, but [Unless You Know With Certainty, [Which Players] to Purchase and [When to Purchase, and [Why to Purchase], You're Simply ['Buying on the Come,'] - and That my Friend, is a Big Mistake.' - HUGE. 'Anybody With Any Real Experience In The Hobby, Has Scads of sealed 50 and 100 card plastic little cases like that. ' Hell, - "Most of Mine come in 2-Ply. '(humor). For that very reason alone, is why some Sports Card Personalities find themselves having to create content channels in order to try and carve out a living via View Counts and Ad Clicks. Put Simply: Those Who Can't, buy CaCa 89' Donruss Baseball Monster Boxes, and Create Content Channels to try to make a living, ..and those who actually know The Hobby, are the ones who just sit back and watch the very methods in practice, that Make ' a Master Collector a Master Collector.' As Paul on Vintage Sport Shack Says: ' DON'T BE STUPID! ' -Thank You. Now I'll Go Back to Bed. I'm 58 and Old. (Wink).
