Fitting up the toe portion, wet upper edges for easy and clean fit on toe, nailing is starting sequence, after drying, pull the nails out and stitching the upper 4th o base sole....
The vamp lining is cut from a blocker pattern, so larger than the already sewn on vamp. It is stuck from back side and then sewn on from front by a second row of stitching next to the row used to sew on the vamp.

Timing missed, or needle shaft shift upwards , take out needle plate and match the needle groove with shuttle point... and use leather point needles....
