Avon won, and it's not up for debate. "The king stays the king." and he proves that when marlo has to go through him to get the connect. "Let me help you find your tongue"
ive never watched the full show but from the clips he is a real nigga (real man, hijacking the word like Kanye do) son did what he can do and decided to die whether than give up his shit. only thing I care about is him killing that boy. but I think he was on his way to make his decision like D, but hes the one who wouldn't let it go. you have a child who wasnt ready - he died you have a man who stepped up when he needed to but got out because he realized it doesnt make sense. and you have Bodie, who never made it, because he was too much of a man to walk away. at least his decision probably led to his mans getting a real job.
5:42 Prop Joe knew that if you start behind the 8-ball you’ll never get in front. Getting ahead of the 8-ball was about building a good name on the benefit of the doubt so that said benefit it would be spared to joe whenever he needed it.
Stringer didn’t really have any moves left, and if so, they weren’t any smarter than the dumb moves that already painted him in a corner. Thats the thing about lying, fucks all your options up, impedes the way out.
First time watching one of your videos. The introduction scene topic for Avon and Marlon is a great call out! I never compared it personally, but as soon as you brought it up, I made the connection! Great job. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I've seen the show all the way at least twice, and many many clips since...id say its probably my favorite show of all time (slight edge over GOT), but one thing ive never understood and still want clarity on is this...who is the older guy with the rums ship that Marlo confides in? Is that his dad? Ive never understood who he is and why marlo respects him so much
If Cutty was with Marlo, he would have been taken out for being weak. Avon knew that it took a real man to own up to that shit, and respected him for it. It's all about who you with I suppose. Marlo attracted a certain type of people, as did Avon.
If you take notice namond was over thrown by Micheal when it came to slanging on the corner because Micheal respects him as a friend but in that world didn’t respect him because he viewed him as weak
Your analysis around the 4 minute mark tells me 1. You are an excellent analyst of this masterpiece of a show, and 2. Chris acting skills are seriously top-tier
I enjoy your content but I gotta disagree with your take with Bodie. The differences between Marlo and Avon are vast. Remember Marlo was Bodies enemy from the gate. So when Bodie informed on Marlo. I believe it was justified, Bodie couldnt handle it himself. And how is Bodie any different from Omar testifying against Bird? Secondly, The murders that Avon committed such as the security guard and the maintenance man were due to them being involved with testifying against D. Marlo killed the security guard because he had a sensitive ego. The other murder that Marlo committed was a setup for getting at Omar. So id say it was apples and oranges. Sure you can say that killing Little Kevin was justified but there were a stark difference between both circumstances. Killing Wallace was an order from his own people, they agreed to it. Bodie had no say in the matter, which meant that anyone was up for grabs.
And that's why Chris beat the step father like that because him being a pedophile triggered Chris. Me and my sister caught that when this first aired. And that's the reason why Chris went to jail.
You can't equate laissez faire with lawlessness. It only means the govt should not regulate the free market i.e. supply and demand. It does not, however, imply that no cogent norms apply. If an item or a practice are illegal, they are still subject to bans and restrictions, meaning slaves, illicit drugs, weapons, et cetera can not be owned or traded freely.
