Hey there! I'm Ron, and I make videos about woodworking and laser crafts! I love to make whatever ideas pop into my head. Especially so if it means I can involve my laser cutter, as I love to find ways to use it in creative ways other than just engraving. I then share my projects and creative process here on my channel. Join me by subscribing if that sounds like something you'd enjoy!
This kit is crazy overpriced just go to a supplehouse like Locke supply and buy your own pieces, you can buy 50 feet of snap lock in five foot sections for $80, and 6 inch adjustable 90’s are 3.00 lol
That must hurt. I lost count on the number of times I got hurt just this past weekend. From hitting myself with a 5/pound hammer trying to knock out a ball joint to scratching my hand on the wall because the space I was working in was so tight. I feel your pain!
Love this project. We are going to make it this year. The stir stick holder is brilliant for the paste cans. I was wondering how I was going to get those installed.
Maybe I misunderstood what your mistake was with the gap between wall & upper boxes, but that is to be expected. If the base cabinet is level and the upper box is square, then there will almost always be a gap to shim & hide at the wall as walls are rarely perfectly plumb. Typically fixed by scribing an end panel to the wall to hide the gap.
you did a good job BUT it does not look like the same quality as a Hermes not even close but from someone who does not care or from far away it looks similar ,someone who can afford these can tell the difference but to those who are not a customer of Hermes or even want too be I can see being fine with it and not understanding why anyone would pay more when this looks the same but doesn't
Great video. .thank you. I just bought a used system and am getting ready to install it. I sent you a request for the PDF files! thanks for doing that! it will help immensely. I subbed and rang the bell!
Hey there! Thanks for the kind words! I didn't quit RU-vid, just been going through stuff in my personal life over the past number of months and hoping to get back into the video-posting game soon. 😊 Cheers!
This looks great. I built an Ana White miter station several years ago. Last June I disassembled it and my husband repurposed it in his garage. I had intentions of building a new one right away. But during that week I hurt my back. Other projects got in the way and I’m just getting started on building my new miter station. It really has sucked not having a home for things. This past weekend I built a rather large drill charging station/tool holder. It really has me motivated to get my build going. Thanks for the motivation.
On the subject of DPI, the larger the dot size the lower your DPI should be. If you run the DPI higher than the dot size allows you get each line burning slightly over the last, basically destroying the detail in the picture. Print samples in increasingly higher DPI staring from 100dpi with increment of say 50 dpi. Get a USB microscope if you can and then check at which dpi the lines only just touch. Do the test for each of your lenses. Your 2" lens will probably give you more detail at a lower DPI. On a personal note, it's a pleasure looking at closeups of your hands. On so many youtubers and especially laser videos, people haven't cut their nails in months, not to mention the dirt under those nails.
I hope you are still monitoring these posts: I have followed you 'til about 8:28 minutes in when you are at ./cam2ip to see if it is activated and running, and I get an error. The error is "john@Laserpi:~/Desktop $ ./cam2ip camera: inappropriate ioctl for device. I would very much appreciate your help.
You could totally create a panel that slides into the window with an exhaust port, just like people do with the Glowforge, but you'll still need to have a fan "pushing" the air to the outside. Hope that helps!
The ethernet connection comes in handy if you want to control the laser via ethernet instead of USB, but in that case you'd be plugging it directly into the computer with Lightburn on it, OR, more ideally, to a "network switch" whereby you can find its local IP address and control your laser wirelessly from your laptop or such. I might do a video on that topic at some point. 🤓
Thanks. I’m making a few of them today for friends. I don’t have a laser but enjoy cutting by hand. I’m also putting brand new air tags in them when I gift them. Holiday sale had them 80$ for 4. So my total cost for all 4 will be about 120$. I have yet to find a good design for the Samsung tags.
Great video! I have a similar setup to you and am planning on getting oneida to create a ducting plan for me as well. This was super helpful! Thank you!
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to etch with the HR lens, switch to the 4" if you're using thick wood? I don't know if the thunder would re-align precisely after the lens change
I haven't tried on metal, but I'm pretty sure the paint would just get "burnt" off in the area of etching. That said, if you wanted to entirely coat a piece of metal in spray paint and "etch away" the paint to reveal metal, that would work! But not for etching a "positive." Hope that helps!
Haha I have no idea, as I made it for fun! Not something I'd try to sell with how much work it is - it would be hard to convince someone to pay for 5-10 hours of work at even a modest hourly rate once margin is added in. 😅 That's why I'm selling the template instead, for people to make it themselves! 😊 Cheers!
Thanks! No, I just ended up using those screws to hold the T-nut in place (keep it from falling out) until the cabinet was upside down 🙃 pushing it up and holding it in place. Cheers!
Some motor oils even have molybdenum disulfide in them. It is a friction reducer and is similar to graphite in appearance when in dry form. One brand of oil known for having it is Liqui Moly which is made in Germany
