I love making homemade decorations when I can, so this year I wanted to experiment with making some luminary boxes on the laser cutter. What are luminaries? You've probably seen them before! They're those paper bags set along a walkway and illuminated from the inside with tea light candles - they're common at weddings and other outdoor events, and they give off the most charming glow!
When I was a kid, I saw some Halloween-themed luminaries in the store, and while I loved the idea, I was always a bit wary of a fire. This project aimed to improve upon the idea, by making something that looked the same and achieved the same effect, while being a lot more sturdy! We checked 2 out of 3 of those boxes, so while this experiment wasn't fully successful in what I set out to do, I still enjoyed the process, and look forward to revisiting the project down the line with some better ones using acrylic!
