Please, can you teach how to insert a quantitative table of elements into FreeCAD? For example, I have a wall and on it 3 windows and two or more doors. and the inserted table describes the object and quantity automatically
Very helpful tutorial series. How would I preview the path in the CAM Simulator in Freecad? The Path made by script is not shown in the simulator. Maybe I have to add a Tool ?
Thank you for the explanation. I think some improvement should be done on the intuitiveness of the system. It is smart, however I couldn't find a way to add a 2mm endmill before I found your video. This should be straightforward. Excellent job anyway!
any ideas on how to cut out gears. Right now I create gears on freecad (easy using gear library), 3D print to make sure gear reduction is correct under load. But now I want to cut out the gears in foam, using cnc 3018. Then I can cast them out of aluminum using the lost foam method. Problem is how to use the path workbench to follow the gear teeth and cut out gears. Thanks
This looks awesome! I would love to have that! But Camotics is still on 1.2.0. Is there any precompiled version of 1.2.2 or 1.3.0 available somewhere? I saw that there is a guide for building on Windows, but this looks rather daunting :D
Thank for the video. I am quite new to freeCAD and path (still learning) but have upgraded for the second time to the latest stable release 0.21.1. I tried to migrate my tool library manually by setting the paths etc. This does not work correctly. Apperently it is nescesarry to edit the user.cfg file manually and also setting the "macro'-path to make the job_template list-box fill correctly. I am using the portable version by the way. Could you please update this video. I have a hunge I may be doing something incorrectly.. Love the path workbench by the way!
Tell me more. If I had to guess, I'd say you're trying to generate gcode for a laser or plasma cutter or something like that. You can select 2D geometry as the base geometry when you create a Path job. Then you select the lines and generate the gcode.
Hello Sir, is it possible to have just wireframe as the chained tool path without the need for solid model? In 3d?. Example would be imported DXF wireframe to be use as direct tool path
Hi, good morning sir I'm new to cnc and I'm having a hard time finishing an ashtray can you please help .can I send you the file I'm using mach3 on the milling
I don't understand your question. With path, the first most important thing is to get the setup correct in the Path Job. This is where you place your part within the stock and establish the origin of the coordinate system.
@@sliptonic the other CAMs I have used so far include Easel and Fusion360. Both of these allow me to place my tool directly on the center of my pieces and start from there. Unfortunately, FreeCAD cant do all the cuts I need, so i have some g code from fusion and some from FC. In FC it seems the tool always starts at the edge of the box or piece instead of the center. I start a piece as a rectangle and start the bit from the center of that rectangle. Its way easier for me to recenter that way and change the g code to the next cut and know it will start from the same place. Hopefully that clears it up a little.
your free cad 0.21 looks way different to mine, I don't have many of the features you see there. I'd start videos with describing your installation of free cad ;)
There are many ways to install and FreeCAD runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Trying to cover that topic in every video would be impossible and pretty boring for people who already have it installed. The FreeCAD wiki does a pretty good job of documenting the installation options and process.
Thanks for your excellent video. I am thinking about buying your book, however I am working with FC version 0.21.1 now. Should I wait for an updated version of the book? Thanks G.
My videos are getting a bit long in the tooth. I don't have time to update them or the book now that I'm running Ondsel. Hopefully I'll be able to update both some day though.
Hi Vitus, I think I just replied to you via email. I'm afraid I'm not in a position to take a job at this time but a conversation might be in order anyway. Hope to hear from you.
nice video but not tell how i can make touch off makro, i has make button to display Z touch off. but alltime come error EOF axis.ngc row 0. somethink i not understand, not good english. need know how make macro and how this can make working good. i have manual ER16 collect spindle, need ewery tool change make new time zero point of tool. but not understand if has make button to display ok and then bush button why not go make sub/macro g-code and measure tool lenght and add zero point. or macro measure ZXY points workpiece corner too. i have basic parallerport linuxcnc 2.8.4-1 version. DIY cnc machine working manual well. but need make automatic, set tool lenght set workpiece corner and know true zero point, then run linuxcnc example code and carving this linuxcnc text to wood. i not has make first cutting yet because i try run this example code thats run too high alltime same move bit wery high point. how move bit down. manual if i move bit top of wood, and then run example code bit run move same point high than before i run empty machine this g-code.
Select Custom for Scale Type, then in Scale type "=" and a box will open up that you type 1/100 for scale ( or 1/50, 1/250 etc). Note, the "=" does not show up in the box.
Thanks for the video! Really clear. I was really scratching my head on why my zero point in Candle was inside my stock until I re-watched it and noticed the bit about setting the origin!! thank you!!!
thanks again. a simple cube with routed letters will post process incorrectly when I save as an .nc file or the only option for that being mach3or 4. I wanted to share what i do and assume most have cyphered it already........In Freecad when postprocessing to mach3,4 because there is not option for .nc files….The “start depth” and “final depth” under “Engrave” need to be from the top of the board downward, so start depth for a 19mm board should be about 20mm and final depth I set to say ie..14mm or 5mm down from the top.
Thank you so much for this video. (And all the others you've created). If you would be willing to make an update on this suiting the new tool library would be amazing! I'm just trying to setup some tools but just as example, the by you so useful described spindle Power Funktion does not exist anymore in version 0.20. Another idea great video would be the full process from part design over creating tolls and tool path to exporting it to a CNC machine and see the final result. Keep up your great work! Best regards!
Firstly this is a great introduction to toolpaths, thanks for posting. This is very helpful for me. As I am new to freecad and milling. For drilling do you use a drill bit or the end mill itself? How do you introduce a tool change operation in gcode? I want to do the drilling operation first, then do the tool change to milling, his can I do this?
September 2, 2023 Since do not have large plotter, can I save print file with all the correct settings(even avoiding recompute/update) and take it down to print shop and have it printed out? If so, how do you create such a file and where would that file be located?
i have watched the whole series. great info!! I'm on ver 0.20 now, and I'm very interested to make multiple parts in batches soon. I'm commissioning my own built machine now and test cutting in nylons before I switch into aluminums.
This is very useful. Imagine to design furniture and you need to design recessed hinges (very common nowadays), this is very useful to diminish the design of them (or you need to re-design each time the same part over and over again). Since Freecad has not other method, this can be used.
Dear, I was so frustrated by searching for a profund lecture how to use the path workbench until - now as i found your wonderful video tutorial . thx a lot Hans-Georg
