Learn about microscopes and more on the Micro Safari RU-vid channel!
We believe exploring the small and unseen helps solve the world's biggest problems.
Micro Safari began as a museum exhibit to help teach about soils, microorganisms, and science. Our latest product, Micro Safari Aqua, is a new kind of microscope slide that keeps aquatic organisms alive for several months, compared to a traditional microscope slide where the organisms die in a couple hours.

sir I'm a pig farmers from india wanted your guidance in buying a microscope we require in a budget how much magnification is basic required for checking sperm.
Hi, nice job in going through all the differences of these microscope types. Just for completeness, you can have the same image quality of the Zeiss Axio Imager at a small fraction of the price by using a Zeiss Labscope or Primostar 😉
I would really appreciate it if you would review some of the digital microscopes from temu. You do an in-depth and comprehensive review and would like to know how good they are.
You mention that the magnification on the digital microscopes are lies ...but make no mention of what the actual range of magnification is, on the ones you mention here. Why is that?
I think I put the magnification numbers overlayed on the B-roll which are an approximate equivalent to optical magnification numbers. Generally though magnifications for digital microscopes don't hold as much value since the final quality of the image also greatly depends on the quality and system integration of the image sensor. If it's 2x more magnified but is 3x worse image quality then there's not much point to the 2x more magnification.
@@micro_safari The B-roll indicates the magnification used, in those specific instances. Not the actual possible range, that the microscope can manage. This is especially clear, in the cases of two or more different stated magnifications, from different views, from an individual microscope. You do not show any numbers, for the actual magnification of them. (the optical magnification, that is. Not digital "magnification", by cropping the image and having a fuzzy/pixelated image. Real magnification, where you still have a decently clear image)
It's very cool to use science and especially microscopy for our own health. It's kinda giving back some power to the individual. Thank you for your amazing You obviously deserve way more views... So, I just add a quick comment to help you on that way.
It could be a couple of reasons: 1. Our filming studio is in a warehouse that gets quite cold in the winters. I remember it being about 40degF that day. Not the ideal environment for sperm to be the most active! 2. When you do a sperm count test in a lab, they have you wait 7 days since your last ejaculation, which is when your sperm count/count of motile sperm will be approximately the highest (and for consistency between patients). Let's just say that we were filming back to back to back sperm related videos that day and the days prior, and this was the last video we filmed ;)
It is! In fact it is a critical part of making the system work. Sperm are nearly invisible. Our system works by using a narrow angle of illumination to cause shadows of the sperm to appear. In this kind of illumination system however, if you look into the microscope with your own eyes, the same illumination technique that makes invisible sperm visible, also makes the eye floaters in your eye visible, which makes it extremely difficult to use and uncomfortable to look at. The included microscope camera solves this and also improves edge detection of the samples.
@@micro_safari Great. I'm a farming student, so it would be helpful by study about IV fertilizarion on animals... Can it also maybe see egg cells, if I can ask out of curiosity?
YOUR INFORMATION CAN MAKE A STUPID BECOME WISE. CAUSE MANY ADVERTISEMENTS IN THE MARKET SAY IT'S A 1600X USB MICROSCOPE.. SO THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER USED A REAL ORIGINAL MICROSCOPE WILL LOOK NEGATIVELY ON THE REAL MICROSCOPE...
Hello. I want a microscope of one of these you would recommend for looking at things like cells and/or microscopic creatures. It just needs to be not too expensive but have from 30-90 magnification.
I really wanted to buy the generic 10€ microscope on your store. However, I saw the shipping costs being 90€!!! I'm sorry but I can't believe this are normal shipping prices. I live in Spain btw
Is there an affordable microscope that has up to 1000x magnification and can be used both as a reflected light microscope and a transmitted light microscope?
Great invention. Probably won't work with a 40x objective and many introductory microscopes come with 10x, 40x and 100x objectives. This would make only the 10x usable. It would be best to add 4x and 20x objectives for more versatility.
You are missing an important option, specifically a smartphone adapter that is mounted on its own eyepiece, and is swapped with your normal viewing eyepiece. It is very affordable, and on my binocular stereoscope it greatly simplifies switching between binocular viewing and taking pictures. On my Olympus scope, the less sophisticated eyepiece of the adapter is actually a much better optical match with my phone than the Olympus eyepiece. Of course a small amount of refocusing is required. With today's high-megapixel phones, digtal zoom can achieve wonders, and at higher maginifications, you may find yourself using your phone as a viewfinder in preference to binocular viewing.
I’m a hobbiest that wants to see up to blood cells and microorganisms that size and be able to film it to show to my family and friends. What microscope should I buy? I apparently need something that magnifies up to 1000x but I don’t want to spend more than $100
Of course it is. Once the much welcomed end of the world will happen the aliens will womder why did we LOATHE the planet so much if we FILLED every single mm of earth with plastic.
Thanks for creating this content, nice presentation and very informative, I’m in the market for something that can help me study ‘skin scrapes’ I have sensitive skin and sometimes feel as though there are mites feeding on me…one of these would help me identify what is causing the irritation..!😇
I was just seeing the 2022 version and was hoping you would release a new one then I looked to the side and saw you just posted a 2024 version That was less than one week old by the way, the videos were amazing. Keep it up.❤
I want to start analyzing the waters I've been drinking as most are filled with plastic, and It's been found that calcium carbonate encapsulates up to 80% of the 3 most common plastics found in water after boiling, making it easy to filter out. I wanna buy a microscope to experiment with different water sources and different filtration methods at home, and just have some peace of mind that I'm not drinking poison.
Lol... I have never heard this question asked in my lifetime. Telescopes... yes Rifle scopes... yes Spotting scopes...yes Bore scopes. Yes Any other scopes but this one
