MHD (Magnetohydrodynamic) Technology laboratory is part of the Institute of Physics of Univesity of Latvia. We specialize in the field of applied Magnetohydrodynamics, electromagnetic processing of materials. We research the following topics: liquid metal stirring and pumping, crystallization of metals and composite alloys, nanoparticle dispersion in liquid metals, and instabilities in liquid metal batteries.

Very cool. We've barely begun to explore so many cool opportunities in materials science and already we're being mandated off from moving atoms into just moving electrons (EVs and such). Here's hoping the mandates fail and we continue to hone the state of the art in moving atoms at high speed reliably

The end of the video with the copper cylinder must have been "AMATEUR NIGHT" The Cu cylinder was much to long and probably caused much confusion in the drop demo. You should have made the Cu cylinder no more than 1/4 th (or 1/8 th) the magnet height! Then you would see the cylinder "free-fall" at the center, THEN slow down again as it fell on to the bottom. There is a lot going on there that could have been demonstrated if you used LESS Cu. When the cylinder landed, it was over half the height of the magnet...you missed the best opportunity for a more detailed, real explanation of "eddy currents" and "Faraday's law"!

Greetings Dear In my consiusness decision with my sentence to tik tok MHD technology lab Own consousness decision Purpose To prevent typhoon Build an energy of magnetism to separate ion positive and ion negative at air Own consiousness founding by self understanding methode is: 1) Energy of magnetism is a principality of gravity 2)Energy of magnetism, can build a physical with responsive of earth minerals at earth ,then energy of magnetism is a principality of earth core functioning My own consiusness theory philosophy is: 1) magnetism energy function are accuracy of earth core function 2) Analysis principle of earth larva gasses responsive to magnetism energy 3) Analysis principal of earth sources mineral at ion positive and ion negative with the principle of south and north magnetism energy which accuracy of the magnetism energy for magnet physical floating principle with the rotation function of accuracy earth rotation

Okay I'm not sure if you still read old posts but I have a question about MHD, have you ever heard about a facility in Montana that used plasmasized coal to extract a DC voltage to run the control system? The coal was sent to a boiler for power and it was cleaner burning then other emissions from other plants.

At high frequencies, will there be a difference between a solid metal bar inside the solenoid and a metal pipe with some thickness? seeing that skin effect isolates the magnetic field at the surface of the metal bar

Great video!. Do you know if the magnitude of the angular velocity of the liquid increase if the magnetic field was stronger? Also, would it not be easier to use a magnetic coil instead of a permanent magnet?

Someone has got to put a large magnet inside a hotwheels car and flip it off a block of aluminum, or between them. It would make great animation ir add to stop motion animation.

Gotta say, this is super cool. I recently got some 40x40x20 mm cubes, man are they powerful, (though nothing close to this). I will say that it is way cooler in person when you can actually play with the magnet yourself. I have a 1 kilo bar of silver that makes the magnet have incredible resistance to motion 1/2 inch away. (bet you could throw a bar of silver at that magnet and not even touch it). Recommend everyone that likes magnets gets a few extra powerful ones (only like $40 shipped to get started), you will not regret it, unless you hurt yourself. Cheers

Hello, Great video thanks for sharing. I have a question about that magnet, is it strong enough to pull black tattoo ink out of skin since the ink is iron? Maybe you could have a piece of pig skin tattooed with black ink and see if magnet can pull and ink out.. Just a suggestion
