First, thank you guys for your transparency and honesty. I’m here in Riverview and the first time I visited the island, it just felt like home. Almost too weird to explain. I’ve been in prayer about moving there for a year now. And have received so much negative comments from friends and family here. But it’s like listening to you guys is like listening to the conversations I’ve had with my friends who are also looking to move back to the island. And I literally visited every few months, but have feared what people might think. Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite verse. And it’s what keeps me grounded. I was sent your channel from a friend, and I will definitely look you guys up when I’m there. My fellow 813 folks! We’ve found a church there already so it’s just a matter of placing down roots and moving in faith! God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask, hope or think. @Naomi-wb7vu Hi Naomi, We definitely try to be as transparent and honest as possible. We love Puerto Rico, which comes with its ups and downs. You can also experience the same in other parts of the world. A lot of people have been feeling a pull to come back. We firmly believe that God is trying to do something big here. We have met and come across many people that God has called back to Puerto Rico, us included. If God has put it in your heart, it's for a reason and a season. When the time is right her will give you the green light to go. Until then, remain patient and quiet enough to hear his voice. You are definitely from the area we used to live. I can relate to this! We also moved here from Florida for the same exact reason and no we aren’t tax evaders. I’d rather pay more taxes if it gives me and my family peace of mind and tranquility. I am in the same line of work as you and nothing beats managing your own schedule. I’m able to donate my time and skills to my son’s school and to the rest of the less fortunate communities. It’s impact over income for me.

Was it difficult to start your own business in PR , my husband has a small remodeling business in the States but we are moving to PR and want to start the same business in PR.

Good luck to you. Get your trees in first. In 5 years they will be large and bearing fruit. Mangoes (grafted) would be first choice. I came to Puerto Rico 22 years ago and would never leave. Age now requires me to sell the farm I lovingly developed.

Just came across the channel a few days ago and really love what you guys are doing, the content is good and informative. My fiance and I were recently in Aibonito, PR visiting family and we plan on moving to PR in the next two years. We are super excited!!
Moving to Puerto Rico, is like a New Yorker moving to West Virginia, Alabama, or Colorado, except for the language barrier. Puerto Rico is a mini U.S.A. Move to Metropolitan San Juan and you experience the rat race. Moving to the rural area, is like any small town or city in U.S.A. Move to the mountains, in some places, it's like living in the Appalachian Mountains, except for the wild life (no wolves, bears, rattlesnake, etc.). In the mountain you should be able to speak Spanish and with a twange (very nazal); because that's how our hillbillies speak, and you'll easily stand out, if you are not one of them. Most of these mountain folks, originated from the mountain of Spain, when the Spanish government was giving 5 Acres of land to families, to settle this Island (18th and 19th Centuries). But if you only speak English only, learn Spanish, and they will accept you better. And you won't feel lonely among our super happy people. The best of Puerto Rico, is no hate, no racism, no KKK, limited bigotry, very little homelessness and the people are very well educated and friendly.

Gringos here. 20 years ago, we lived in Mayaguez for a couple years, but moved back stateside to facilitate an adoption. Im retiring early (52 years old) the end of 2024, selling our Texas home and moving to the Humacao area. Not rich by a long shot. Have just enough money to enjoy our last 20 years or so on the island we love. Will live in a typical PR neighborhood, drive a typical PR car, and have a typical PR "Salary" thru our investments stateside. Saddens me about the "Gringo go Home" movement viewing gringos as tax evaders or gentrification. We never complained about Puerto Ricans moving stateside to make more money, and saddened that some puerto ricans feel we shouldnt belong there. Just want to spend our remaining time without driving an hour each way to commute to work, living in a place full of arrogant, selfish, and rude people. We loved PR when we lived there before, and with all our heart hope it hasnt changed so much, that we cant love it again. You have a beautiful family. Hope we can maybe toss a couple lines in the water together sometime. Cheers !
