This channel is primarily about my HO scale layout, the Westport & Shelter Cove Railway. I also occasionally make videos about trains in other scales, as well as R/C cars and helicopters.
I have also done product reviews for the BC Hobbies channel, which you can find here: ru-vid.com/show-UC5_g7ID8wYdzsf49fWTL-Cg
Alright so its a loooong shot....but i was watching your bachmann modern 4-4-0 video and i noticed you mentioned it came with a few extra pilots (cow catchers) do you still have an extra and do you want to sell one 😅...i purchased 2 of them and both were missing the cow catcher lol. I made basically a switching pilot for one but id like a cow catcher for the other and i cant find a factory one anywhere.
This is a beautiful engine and seems to run well. I shy away from the spectrum models because they had a few issues. I have several MDC models that are fun to build but verrrry difficult to get running. I finally purchased my first brass PFM and then a second one…. I started to attempt a scratch build .. go check it out if you want!!! Gotta love shay’s!
Have you released printer files for this yet? I don’t model in G Scale (HO/OO for me), but I figured I could adapt the files and try and make the unit fit in another locomotive as I have a Hornby Flying Scotsman that seems to have a fair bit of space in the front
I haven't gotten the files to a point where I feel they're ready to release yet. Soon hopefully, but I have a lot of other ongoing projects, so it might be a while.
I have 5 Mehano/IHC locos in my collection, 4 of which are steamers. They are all from the "Presidents choice Insiders collection" which is actually a grocery brand that sold HO trains sets in their respected grocery stores in the 1990s and early 2000's at Xmas time. I have the 4-6-2 pacific in a special semi Streamline CP shell that is painted similar to your custom job. It's gorgeous and since it's from the late 1990's it's motor is extremely powerful and it pull 8 Rivarossi/AHM heavyweight coaches with not a single issue. I also have a 4-6-4 Hudson (CNR 5702), 4-8-2 Mountain (CNR 6060) and a Santa fe 2-10-2 (CNR 5100) all fantastic runners!
Great video going over this interesting locomotive. I have 2 of these. One by AHM and one by IHC. I noticed a significant step up in the details of the IHC over the AHM. Both run great, just seems the IHC is a bit better. The AHM locomotive is a Southern Pacific in a Daylight livery. The other is Southern Railway and is The Tennessean.
Howdy! I volunteer for the Belvidere & Delaware Railroad, the operators of NYSW 142, and have spent many hours working on her myself. I've gotta say that the Bachmann model does a pretty good job of representing her. The only thing I could notice without being able to see a model in front of me was that it lacks the two tender water hatches on either side of the coal bunker.
Honestly the big one for me is probably the wood load in the tender. It looks like someone neatly stacked some kraft Mac n cheese in there lol. If you want to try and make it look less cheesy (pun not quite intended) maybe try a black paint wash on the wood load. Just thin out some black paint a ton and it should look ok, and if you want more, paint some different shades of brown to represent tree bark. I'd imagine it'd look good that way.
Welcome to Massachusetts! we have some great hobby shops and some great layouts, although not many steam locomotives let alone running ones. I strongly suggest you check out: - Charles Ro Supply Company in Malden - North East trains in Peabody - Boston & Maine 410 in Lowell - Trains on Tracks in Amherst NH - and the Springfield train show
What a great video for the next chapter of your channel. That sure is a beautiful looking locomotive. I usually don’t like the older type locomotives like that. I am looking forward to seeing your new layout in the O gauge scale. I personally love all the gauges but I mainly model O gauge. I’m a new subscriber to the channel. Frank
I love the ho scale Westport & Shelter Cove no. 8 with the diamond stack. It sure is quite sad to see the last train on the Westport & Shelter Cove Railroad to run it's farewell run in your old house, sorry you're having to leave the West Coast, but I am certainly glad you're going to the east. There are lots of steam railroads in the east coast and lots of space for more model railroading, good luck at your new home when you get there! BTW, I Love the doccumentary on Casey Jones, Top-Notch job on that!
#8 looks amazing. Thanks for uploading more footage of it like I asked! I hope O, N and G scale treats you well. I can already tell that terry is gonna give you a boxcar full of info. cheers from Colorado!
Let me give you a preemptive welcome to the O scale hobby, and a warning: Your wallet will be begging for mercy before long. No matter how much I try to deny it, I'm an O scale guy through and through. If I wasn't, I would've spent the last decade looking for something other than a 1937 original Lionel 700E. This side of the hobby is a fun one with a *very* wide range of possibilities. So much more to explore, so many obscure bits of information to find out.
@@michaelramsey81 I know right? I've been after one for so long that people think I'm crazy. A 700E was the first model train I ever got to see running, and the owner was even kind enough to let me run it. I've wanted one ever since.
